Very beautifull & peacefull ‘casa de campo’. Only 30 min drive from Oporto. This lodgement is run by very helpfull couple. Great breakfast including fresh orange juice, Portugese pastries, fruits, cereals etc. Cosy bungalows & spacy rooms. Very suitable to go to for bigger parties, but everybody still can enjoy his privacy. Kids can ride horses, play tennis, table football, table tennis, swim in 1 of the 2 pools. Or lend a bike. Very clean. They also have a van and can take care of transport. Beautifull gardens. Besides, at night time a bar. Internet is also good.
2nd stay here & still delighted. Sons wedding so we had all the family with us ( 9 ) with 3 under 6! Stayed in the 3 bungalows . The hosts Hernani & Lucia couldn't have been kinder & ferried us about in the minibus. The bungalows were beautiful just missing one or to things(kettle/mugs) but I'm sure now they will be there. Very quiet & off the beaten track so really need transport to appreciate beautiful surroundings.Building more lodges but really hope they don't get too big as will spoil the homely atmosphere. Less then 10 minutes into Penafiel with lots of bars / eateries. Magikland for the children was Fabulous again aimed at under 10,s & just 5 minutes away.
We stayed 2 nights whilst touring northern Portugal. Small hotel in a modest historic farm building tastefully restored and retaining its rural charm. It is in a village a short drive from Penefiel and a good centre for exploring the area.Rooms are modest but adequate and comfortable and there is free Wifi. There is a pool in the grounds, a tennis court and horses which you can ride. A nice set up if you had children and there is a theme park nearby. The only down side for us was that there is no restaurant on site so at the end of the day you really need to go out and this means driving as there is nothing you can walk to unless you take your life into your hands and walk to the nearest fried chicken place along a busy road. On our second evening we brought back some food from the supermarket and Rosalia let us use the breakfast room and provided utensils and plates. There is a bar. Our hostess Rosalia was lovely and speaks great English. There are 2 self catering units on the site which I would consider if we ever go back again.…
