We originally had a pool view junior suite but opted to save a bit of money by not having the pool view this time. We had a street view and our apartment was situated above the reception and bar area. This was fine and being on a fairly quiet street we were not troubled by any noise.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The selection of food at breakfast was extensive (a bit of advice - if you like freshly squeezed orange juice ask the serving staff for this at your table otherwise you will have ‘carton juice’.
Our room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Due to environmental considerations, rooms are only cleaned every other day but you can request additional cleaning if required.
The pool area is lovely. There is the usual early morning sun bed reserving that you get at most hotels. The hotel is trying to tackle this by removing towels if sunbeds are not used for an hour after they place a messsge on the beds. We always managed to get a bed when required.
The evening buffet was good. There was always a paella/risotto option, meat, fish and pasta dishes and an extensive salad choice. Desserts were lovely too. There a 3 A La Carte options per week although we missed the first one was we arrived at midnight. We had been left a meat, cheese and bread platter in our room. Also, as returning guests we were given a bottle of cava and some chocolate dipped fruits.
I had a spa treatment (massage) which was very relaxing. I did note however that to use the stream room and sauna you need to give reception 20 minutes notice. I guess this is to reserve energy as the spa didn’t appear to be widely used. I would imagine that it is used more out of season.
I had a brief visit to the gym. There are treadmills, bikes, weights and a few other weighted machines.
Although this is a fairly expensive hotel, I think it is worth paying extra to get the adult only, relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.
All in all, we had a fabulous holiday and would recommend this hotel. It is only a short walk to the beach and the staff are so helpful and polite. We’ve been to hotels where the air con is loud or has that foisty smell, not so at the Mar Sensus, you hardly knew it was on. The bed was huge and comfortable. For anyone with mobility issues, a lot of the rooms don’t have a lift so I would suggest trying to book a ground floor room, although staff will help carry your luggage up/downstairs on request.
Overall a great stay in a really nice hotel

Our room was in block A and was up two flights of stairs with no lift. The room was clean and had a good walk in shower, but we did feel it was a bit basic and the decor didn’t match the quality of the rest of the hotel. It seems like a lot of care and money has been spent on the interior design of the lobby, bar and restaurant areas (they are beautiful) but this doesn’t transfer across to the rooms.
The biggest positive at MarSenses is that the staff are excellent and seem really happy at work. They are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The location of the hotel is also ideal - we were able to easily reach the beach, the pine walk, the square and the bus station by foot.
We would definitely return here as we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay.
- Great location, a minute walk to the beach and the pine-walk and there’s lots of restaurants if you are wanting to eat out
- Most staff are friendly and helpful
- Good air conditioning in room
- Good selection of food and drink for lunch, fair prices
- Very clean pool-area
Con’s
Facilities:
- There aren’t enough sun loungers for the number of guests, and you have the problem of people getting up early and reserving beds and then leaving towels on them, leaving them unoccupied for hours at a time. The hotel states they have a policy of putting notices on the beds warning that they will remove belongings if beds are left unoccupied for another hour but this appeared to be rarely enforced
- There's a charge for re-filling your water bottle
Rooms
- The rooms are okay, but there was only one drawer in the open plan wardrobe which wasn’t ideal for storage.
- The SMART TVs aren’t connected to the internet so you can’t access Netflix / streaming services so they function as basic TVs which are temperamental - lack of signal on numerous occasions.
- There is a coffee machine in the room and you are given a few pods on arrival but if you want any more you have to pay for them at reception, which isn’t great, considering how expensive the hotel is.
- The rooms are only cleaned once every other day and even then the bedding isn’t changed; we stayed 11 nights and I think the bedding was changed once, a maximum of twice.
- There also wasn’t a lift for our block which didn’t really bother us but it did mean lugging our suitcases down the stairs on our last day and due to an earlier storm it was very slippy
Food
- Food is generally ok; lunch is good and the staff are helpful and attentive. However, the teatime buffet experience could’ve been better. The hotel specifically states on their website that they cater for those with allergies and provide advice. However, in practice, it felt like we were an annoyance when we inquired about the new dishes of the day — the advice felt a little dismissive, resulting in one us sticking to very plain choices to be safe.
These issues would’ve been okay if it was a 2/3 star hotel as it would’ve been expected. However, it’s an expensive 4 star facility and whilst we enjoyed our holiday overall largely due to the great location, the value for money is poor.

The welcome is Big and a glass of cava on arrival.
The staff here bend over backwards for everyone, nothing is to much trouble they learn what you like and love to chat to you.
They wait on everyone with a smile and excellent service.
The place is spotless clean, the cleaners are up early cleaning and are very thorough.
It is so close to the beach just round the corner lots of lovely cafes/ restaurants you really are spoilt for choice if wanted to go out or if your half board etc.
The beach is lovely, lots of lovely shops and small spars to grab water drinks etc.
We had a room that did not over look the pool, our room faced another hotel which was a family hotel, we actually enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching some of there entertainment. We could lots of children enjoying themselves, we did not mind this however if you was paying for an adult only hotel for the peace and quite you may wish to not be facing that way.
The only thing we felt that could of been improved was when we first got there we decided to head to the pool and we counted over 50 sun loungers that had been reserved and not in use, we did go and ask the reception if there was any others we could use.
They did act on this straight away and asked the life guard to go round, he did place a card on the empty ones saying if you did not return your towel will be removed.
We did find the lifeguard was very selective on this, missed lots and when I mentioned to him why some had been there for 3 hours and not moved he said he didn't like touching peoples items... so if you want to keep your sun lounger it seemed you only had to leave a book or something there, i feel the items should be collected up and left at reception and they then need to collect the items from there. Just seemed selfish of people, someone said to us its lots of cyclists laying their towels going cycling and then coming back to a bed( how true this was I don't know)
This was the only negative for us, as we did go to relax by the pool.
Food is amazing lots of choice, nice to have the choice of the al a carte one night and buffet other nights.
Unfortunately our experience of the negative side outweighs the positive, as follows :-
Placing towels on beds at 5am is the same wherever you go so set your alarm earlier.
We paid top price for our 10 night stay Half Board, the food was always Luke warm at best and completely tasteless, ordering from the A la carte was the same ( cold) that's if they remembered your order. A limited choice especially if you are Vegetarian like my partner, we gave it our best shot, but in the end the experience was just not enjoyable, we decided to eat out at local restaurants.
Breakfast was reasonable if you like fresh cooked omelettes as these came hot.
We have stopped in lots of 4 star beach resort hotels in many places and have never felt the need to down grade a hotel to a 3 star rating, but we use Trip advisor to check reviews before we book and wouldn't want others to be misled, just being totally honest.
"Everything about our stay was great the only downside was the beds whilst very comfortable they did squeak a lot when turning over "Read full review
