My partner and I stopped here for lunch during our day trip to Glenfinnan last week. The venue itself is stunning, beautiful hardwood and old artwork everywhere. A real cosy old-world atmosphere to it.

We were the first to get there for the 12pm lunch so ended up sitting at the table in front of the enormous bay windows overlooking the front lawn and the lake. The lunch menu had a lot to choose from, including several vegetarian options. I ended up having fish and chips and my partner ordered the goat cheese sandwich and a bucket of fries topped with smoked cheddar. Yes, they were as delicious as they sound! The fish was very fresh, in excellent light batter, and came with delicious tartar and real mushy peas (none of that green goo stuff they serve in some places!). The only disappointment was that the chips were more like french fries than actual chips but it didn't spoil the meal one bit.

As we were leaving, I noticed someone else having coffee and some scones but we decided to get going because we had a few hours hike ahead of us. It's been several days and I still wish I stayed for those scones, they looked delicious!

Staff were very warm and welcoming, too, and all covid regulations were followed, which made us feel safe and added to an overall lovely experience.

Glenfinnan House Hotel is full of charm, friendly staff, delicious food, and the best view from a bar/restaurant we have ever seen. We have been visiting the hotel for more than 20 years and it consistently delivers a wonderful experience each time. This time we stayed in the Jacobite Suite. It was spacious with a stunning view of Ben Nevis, the loch, and monument. We were provided with a lovely welcome box on arrival in our room. I can also say that the safety measures the hotel has put in place for COVID are outstanding. The locked front door ensured security, there are hand sanitiser stations in all areas of the hotel, we had a temperature check on arrival and the staff all wore masks. We had warm sunny weather when we stayed so were able to take our fizz outside and enjoy it on the large lawn overlooking the loch. It was idyllic and we can't wait to go back again. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It is entirely 100% deserving of the Independent Hotel of the Year Award that the hotel won earlier this year. Its a gem of a place.

We had a lovely stay at this charming hotel on the shores of the loch. The covid precautions were very good, temperature taken on arrival, face masks in all public areas and hand sanitiser all around.

Foodwise, the breakfasts set us up for the day and we ate in the restaurant each night. The evening menus were varied and catered for us.

The staff did everything to make the stay run smoothly and suggested things to do.

I would definitely return again, but perhaps a little sun next time? 😊

We stayed here for four nights and found it lovely. The location was peaceful and the food was absolutely fantastic. As an older person, I felt completely safe there, because the management had a rigorous covid-secure policy: we were given temperature checks on arrival, staff wore face-masks and socially distanced at all times, only residents had access, there was hand sanitiser everywhere, and extra cleaning was being carried out. The waiting staff were well trained, discreet, courteous and efficient.

Our special trip to Vietnam for our 30th anniversary was cancelled due to the pandemic, so we decided to holiday in the highlands (where we spent our honeymoon). We found this hotel by chance and are so glad we did.
We had a warm welcome and every member of staff gave excellent, professional and friendly service. The hotel has retained its old-fashioned, traditional charm, whilst ensuring that room facilities are modern and comfortable.
Like a lot of people just now, I was somewhat anxious about being in any hotel, but the whole place was spotlessly clean, sanitised and very Covid-secure.
We noticed several awards, including ‘best Scottish informal fine dining 2019’ and it is easy to see why. The menu on the website doesn’t do nearly enough justice to the creativity, quality and presentation of the food and our anniversary dinner didn’t disappoint.
Our only regret was that we weren’t able to stay a second night (as we had booked at quite short notice), so we are planning to put that right by going back again in the spring. Manja, Duncan and their team have worked hard to survive the after-effects of the lockdown and we hope that they will continue to thrive in the coming months.

The warmest of welcome awaits at Glenfinnan House Hotel. We stayed at the hotel to celebrate our 10th anniversary, an annual stay as we were married there.
GHH has a very homely feel with a very warm atmosphere. It is a haven of tranquility due to the decor of the hotel, the attentiveness but inobtrusive staff (who are extremely well trained), location with the spacious lawn rolling down to the shore of Loch Shiel with tremendous view of The Glenfinnan Monument, surrounded by rolling hills and a view of Ben Nevis.
Duncan makes the most delicious meals very well presented. The specials board is mouthwatering.
Deserts are to die for.
The rooms themselves are very spacious. Room 6 has a very comfortable 4 poster bed, a very comfortable large bathroom with spa bath and beautiful view of the loch and Monument.
Manja, Duncan and Fiona add so much value to the hotel with their warm, friendly caring disposition which makes you feel a part of the GHH family. We keep coming back to the hotel because of this.
Can't wait until we come back in October.

We stayed for a long weekend and had a fantastic time. The hotel has put in place measures regarding the pandemic- masks worn until sitting down and hand sanitizer at regular points. It soon became normal.

The hotel is in a beautiful location and is beautiful inside. The food is exceptional and varied.

The staff are wonderful- we received a very warm welcome and throughout the stay every member of staff was helpful and professional but also friendly

We have stayed at this hotel twice each year for the past 6 years as we fell in love with it and the area first time we visited.

Everything about the hotel is fantastic and totally recharges the batteries especially during these difficult times. Manja, Duncan, Fiona and all the team couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. They’re totally Covid compliant and we felt at ease and safe during our stay. Everything has been carefully thought through to ensure everyone remains safe including locking the front door so no randoms can wander in which is sad but necessary so to comply with social distancing etc.

The hotel is more than 250yrs old so don’t expect boutique surroundings and this is exactly what floats our boat. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and each room has furniture fitting of its post 1745 vintage. I love that the main staircase creeks of its old age as you walk up it. The food is outstanding whether it be breakfast or dinner with it all sourced locally. The fish and venison dishes being our favorites and not to mention Duncan’s sticky toffee pudding.

I think our friends and workmates must get fed up listening to us wax lyrical about Glenfinnan House Hotel but it’s so worthy of compliments. We’re staying again next month and as with every visit, we can’t wait to be there to catch up with the lovely staff and take in this beautiful area of Scotland.

Spent a night in the Jacobite Suite. Lively old shooting lodge, coping well with covid restrictions, still felt homely with faded grandeur. Staff all lively and helpful. Plumbing a bit temperamental but it is a very old building. Comfortable, with open fires and seating areas. However, having had some wonderful meals here in the past, we were left very disappointed on this visit. We decided to splash out on a steak as was our first night away. Starters had been ok, and no shellfish on the menu to tempt me, with only trout or battered haddock as the fish options. The steaks were not as ordered, median not medium rare, not pink at all, and a little dry, though certainly edible but not the juicy delights we had hoped for. The chips were distinctly odd, covered in smoked cheese which dominated the plateful and added nothing positive. Three baby tomatoes not very impressive either. Passable in a pub but not in a good hotel at hotel prices. Breakfast was underwhelming but ok. Good smoky bacon, half raw sausage, fine egg, toast barely done, coloured on the outside but just bread in the middle, could have done with a good bit longer. Overall, the kitchen disappointed. May be to do with coming out if lockdown and recruiting seasonal staff, with travel restrictions. We will be back, but our expectations will be considerably lower than before.

What an amazing place to stay. It has an enviable location with great views over loch shiel and the hotel has so much character. The staff were friendly and helpful - we were travelling with a baby and felt comfortable and welcomed, even when she was causing havoc in the dining area!

Look forward to visiting again in the future.

I think until 9:00pm, as that's when the dining room and bar close. But I arrived on a late train and they had someone pick me up about 11:00pm. We very much enjoyed our stay there in May.
