What an interesting place! The grounds are beautiful and the food was excellent at their dinning room. I took a tour of the hotel and the rooms were unique and mysterious. I wish we could have spent the night there. I loved this place!

This hotel is just beautiful. We stayed in the Queen Sofia room, which had a balcony overlooking the fjord. It's an old hotel, so don't expect modern finishes and some of the paint is chipping or peeling a bit. In exchange, though, you get the charm and service of another era. Dinner at the hotel was great. Every course was... More

We called into this Hotel to grab a bite to eat for lunch while we were tooling around the Norwegian countryside. We got to look around the hotel while we waited for a table to be set up for lunch. It was a very interesting experience. This is a place full of history and the rooms are named after the... More

I loved the Hotel Union's sense of age, smallness, and distance from crowds of cruise ship passengers and folks obsessed with Pokemon Go. It's beautiful, and its surroundings are magnificent. Many visitors are hikers and people immediately pick up which peak is which. The food and wine are excellent. I was very happy here.

We came back for a second visit 10 years after our first visit. Nothing had changed in the hotel, except for a new set of enthusiastic sisters managing the place. The hotel itself strives to look as authentic "fin de siecle" as possible, and succeed. This includes dimly lit rooms, so reading in bed is a bit of a challenge.... More

Dear Sverre M, Thank you so much for giving your review here at tripadvisor! I'll have a look on the pricing of the wine package, this sounds a bit strange, it's of course not suppose to be a bad deal, but it will be more expencive pr. glas than a glas of "house wine". I really hope we can welcome... More

A trip back to hospitality as it was before we were born! Some of us found it charming and historical, some almost creepy. Everything is made to make you feel like your returned to the end of the 19th century. The staff costume are certainly over the top, but there is plenty of character. The service is attentive. The restaurant... More

This hotel is a very special place, but it is not a good place to stay during warm weather. Instead of staying there in warm weather, consider driving there and back on your way between Hellessylt and Styrn. The Norangsdalen Valley is well worth the trip, and the hotel even opens up its unoccupied rooms around Noon for guests to... More

Thanks for a very nice stay. The hotel itself is of course very nice, with all the history and beautiful rooms and guest areas, and the food is excellent. But what makes this place so extra nice is the staff, mostly local persons, with a unique interest in making the best out of the experience.

This hotel is just perfect: friendly staff, amazingly furnished (it's like a museum), delicious food, free and well functioning wifi, super nice rooms. Each room is unique and has its own history. We decided to go for the 3 course menu for dinner and I can highly recommend it.
