We booked this via a 5pm deal and even at full price cannot fault it. We arrived shortly after check in and were met by a lovely lady on reception who directed us to our room which they had very kindly upgraded. Mind blown doesn't cover it. It was beyond beautiful but even if we had not been upgraded I have to say we felt our experience from start to finish was excellent. Our room was lovely and clean with everything you needed. There's a wee Scotmid a short walk away should you have forgotten anything. We had dinner in the restaurant which was a limited but good choice. The food was well presented, hot and great portion sizes. The staff were all very helpful and polite. A wedding was going on whilst we were there but we were not disturbed in any way.

Breakfast the next morning was well set up, with tea and coffee on the tables and you ordered from the menu. A nice large glass of juice was selected and the food came out hot, well presented and was very tasty indeed.

We stayed here as just fancied a DBB deal and had a great time. Based on our experience even without the upgrade, we would highly recommend. The team were lovely and the food was very tasty. A great value break and would certainly revisit.

Went with a friend for afternoon Tea on Friday 31st. After sitting down we were offered the tea menu, I prefer fruit teas which weren’t on the selection offered however the lady brought out the flavoured teabag selection box and let me pick from there, We were then offered a cocktail or a non alcoholic version which we chose, then they served an amuse- Bouche of soup which was yummy, then sandwiches and cakes, all very nice and just the right amount for lunch. Only thing I’d fault is we weren’t asked if sandwiches dry or with butter. Have all ready recommended to another friend x

We spent a very relaxing overnight here. From the time you enter the baronial foyer with a roaring fire you know you’re in good hands.
The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are fitting for the fact it’s a very modern castle. The dinner and breakfast were faultless.
The place is spotless and cosy and we have no problem recommending Glenskirlie Castle.

First impressions not great. Small, uninspiring hotel entrance opens up to a small seating area in front of a minuscule reception.
Check in was quick and we were directed to the staircase up to our room.
Room was fairly small and dark. Certainly not the luxurious accommodation their website promised.
Shower and no bath was a disappointment and although clean, the colour scheme gave the impression of being quite tatty.
The large king size bed looked lovely and comfortable but that unfortunately was not the case. As on closer inspection, it looked like the king was in fact 2 single beds pushed together. Very uncomfortable as we later found out.
Also in the room was an ipod dock, which would only be of use for those of you who are still using a 20th century ipod/phone.
We went downstairs to look for the bar, only to be told there was no bar, but we could be served drinks in the aforementioned seating area. Service friendly and efficient and prices were ok.
Our deal included a 2 ourse dinner which we were really looking forward to. However, this too was a huge disappointment. Burger and chips or fish and chips were the choices...with extra charges should you wish to have any sort of topping on it. Was eagerly anticipating the 'hand cut' chips.....turned out to be frozen, chunky, dry and tasteless. Sticky toffee pudding was pretty nice though.
Glenskirlie from the outside promises far more than it delivers, and we did not feel we got any where near value for money.
After an almost completely sleepless night on an uncomfortable bed in a roasting hot room we expected little from the breakfast which was just as well as it too was ok and nowhere near as good as it could have been.
All in all, I have to say this has been a very big let down and will definitely not be back.

I was deeply disappointed on entering the dining area, you are greeted with a large dirty grill extractor unit where you are seated to dine. There is absolutely no atmosphere in the breakfast room restaurant or sensation of a luxury experience that was once the house restaurant. It is more café style much like café Alba locally but in nowhere near the same quality of tables and chairs etc. The tables in the Glenskirlie castle restaurant have seen better days, they are tatty, scratched and chipped.
I did get a glimpse of the banqueting hall where two larger parties were being dined. This was more like the experience enjoyed at Glenskirlie House in previous years. It was ornately decorated for Christmas, tablecloths, candelabra and fine china all now lacking in the new castle restaurant (breakfast room). The expense of what was paid per individual for Christmas day lunch was fine for the house restaurant but not for what we received at the castle restaurant, basic Christmas crackers, no table cloths, the food being fired out as quickly as possible and to top it off coffee no longer served in the conservatory by the open coal fire but in the non-intimate reception area of the hotel. £49 per head is more the mark for what we received. We have sadly made the decision to change our Christmas venue to retain the Christmas experience we used to enjoy at Glenskirlie House!

Stayed here with my wife for an overnight at the weekend , upon arrival I got quite a good impression as the place does look like a castle , after getting checked in we were told our room was on the first floor so we headed up . All was ok with the room ,if a bit tired looking for the amount charged in my opinion . We came down stairs to explore the place and were told that as there was a wedding on at night and we would not be able to use a lot of the areas within the hotel at night, again we thought that's fine as there is a separate bar that we can sit at for dinner and a few drinks later on , we were booked in for dinner at 6:30 and came down to a cramped little space that seemed as though it had been created as an afterthought , I thought surely this can't be it ,but it was , we were both hungry so decided to go ahead with the dinner ,all was ok with the food and the drinks but I couldn't get a draught pint which you would think would be pretty standard for a hotel . Looking past all of this we Finnished our dinner and decided we would be better off just heading back up to our room as the "bar" had about as much ambience as a wake , it was round about 8 o'clock when we got back to the room and here is when the real problem started . Our room was directly above the wedding reception and the noise was unbelievable , at 1 point I went into the bathroom and the water in the toilet was moving from the bass , I had to put the telly up to an uncomfortable level to try and drown out the music for 4 hours till it stopped at 12 . I am all for people having a good time , and a bit of noise wouldn't have bothered us both ,but it was unbelievably loud for 4 hours . I don't understand why the hotel would have put us in a room directly above the reception as we were not part of the wedding party , there was a whole second floor which I'm sure would have been quieter than where we were . You would think whoever is taking bookings would have foreseen this being an issue but obviously not . My wife has since contacted the hotel to complain only to be told that "we told you there was a wedding on ",I think whoever is running this hotel might want to take a sit in room 107 while their next reception is in full swing and maybe they will grasp what I am on about . Also Zero working WiFi throughout the whole hotel which caused us problems trying to pay for the meal . our experience as guests of the hotel were completely influenced by a wedding taking place at the same time as our stay , and I would thoroughly advise anyone looking to stay here to do it at your own peril if there is a wedding on as your experience could well turn out like ours. I feel like if the hotel had explained the noise level and limited services available before we booked then we wouldn't have booked on the same day as any event that they run , having lived through it I would say that both private guests and events DONT work in this establishment.

One of my worst experiences I have ever had.

I was really looking forward to staying in a Castle in Scotland in a top end Hotel and paying £295.00 for what I thought was aMini Suite. On arrival at the Glenskirlie House and Castle pulling into the car park it look amazing.

Sadly Once we got of keys and when to the ‘’ Mini Suite’’ I was not impressed in any way, The room in my view was a standard room, but the room had 2 dining chars with a small table A curtain rail that you could pull round the table just and it was called a ‘Mini Suite, But for £295.00 per nite it was just not acceptable.

I tried to discuss with the Managment Team, but clearly they did not really care.

I would check it you are considering a booking that a ‘’Mini Suit’’ is actually a sStandard Room in the Hotel World

The last time we were here it was a lovely experience in the house restaurant, this time it was in the castle itself.
It was cold , one couple actually moved seats to the radiator and most others kept jackets on, thats not a cozy atmosphere.
The small room with a high ceiling allows the 'noise' to echo and increase in volume, when I say noise I simply mean a group of people chatting in the middle drowned out my wife speaking to me over our table, and they were not overly loud, its just the style of the room.

The menu was varied and the choices we made were very tasty, although we felt the chicken was a little rubbery.

Overall average and maybe just an off day with heating etc, but has put us off.

In June 2021 I bought my parents a “three course market menu lunch” for their anniversary, when my dad tried to book and use the voucher he was told that the restaurant was closed for lunch service until after the New Year due to being busy with weddings therefore missing out on 6 months usage of the voucher (the voucher didn’t get extended). My question is why was I sold a lunch voucher if the restaurant wasn’t taking lunch reservations?

He tried again start of March 2022 to book with no luck and has once again today tried to book for the three course lunch to be told they have absolutely nothing available for a lunch reservation and the restaurant is “only open certain days of the week” and will be “closing for the summer” which I do find a very strange thing to do over the summer months.

They have now been offered a dinner reservation but this isn’t suitable hence the reason I bought a lunch voucher for them to use as this was the more appropriate voucher for them.

I personally couldn’t tell you what the food/accommodation is like as I have never been but I can certainly tell you that if you’re looking for a meal voucher as a gift go somewhere else as they clearly cannot provide the original service that was bought!

Excellent food. Staff are lovely. Sound levels in the room during wedding disco are unacceptable. Complaints are received with a smile and not apologies. It's just until midnight... We told you in the confirmation email, which I don't remember receiving, but hey. Surely multiple complaints of the same nature over many years means there is an ISSUE that needs addressing. Bottom line is the bottom line I guess. Ear plugs available for guests at the unmanned reception... So either bring your own or avoid wedding nights. Such a shame. The food was excellent.

Anyone know if they do drought beers…going to a function and my old Dad is very particular lol
Answer from Liz McF
4 contributions7 helpful votes
They only do a minimum amount of drinks if you are attending a function but you have to pay cash, as they do not take cards. There is no cash machine available here or nearby, so you need to have cash or you cant buy drinks. The worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune of stayinh in. Would never go back.
