Detailed Reviews
What a fantastic place! 5* accommodation in the most beautiful setting. We stayed at no. 6 The Maxwells and although there were only 2 of us, for the small additional cost between the 1 or 2 bedroomed properties, the extra space upstairs was really beneficial. The outlook from no 6 was lovely as you look out between the properties opposite and up towards Drummond Hill.
The kitchen is very well stocked with espresso coffee maker, large slow cooker and even an electric can opener! There’s a large tv in the lounge with plenty of DVD’s to watch. A very comfortable large bed in a bedroom that is totally dark so we slept really well.
The area is another benefit to staying here. With every change in the weather, the landscape changes too - all very different but all equally stunning!
This is our little bit of heaven on earth and we love coming here. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed !!!

Fantastic lodge and resort, highly recommend!
The lodge itself was great - they had everything you could possibly need. I've never seen such a well equipped kitchen, dishwasher with tablets provided, utility room with washing machine and drier with washing powder provided (great with 2 kids so we weren't taking a mountain of washing home), individual thermostats in each room and super comfy beds. Clean and nicely decorated. The hot tub is cleaned before use so it'll be cold on arrival but was ready by the morning so the kids had a great time in there after breakfast!
The resort is in a beautiful location, the deli is pricey but has lots of choice and was great for picking up bits for meals. Great gin choice but wine selection could be better.
The restaurant was excellent, not sure why it gets mixed reviews as we had such a nice meal there.
Service was great and overall we were really impressed. Would love to go back.

Thank you very much for the wonderful feedback following your 4 night stay in Crannog Lodge. We're glad you all enjoyed Crannog Lodge as well as the facilities on the Estate itself. We shall be sure to share your comments with the restaurant and the shop and hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back at a future time.

Beautiful lodge, immaculate, comfortable and extremely well equipped.
Had a brilliant 4 night stay and will definitely return. Couldn’t fault it! Well stocked for dishwashing tablets, bin bags, tin foil, cling film etc. Towels, linens and bedding very fresh and clean. Utility room with separate washing machine and tumble dryer a great plus - especially given the weather we had thanks to Storm Dennis!
Comfortable and cosy - we had an absolutely fabulous time!

We booked one single lodge at Mains of Taymouth for a family holiday to celebrate my 60th birthday. When restrictions were brought in due to Covid 19 and we were no longer allowed to reside in a single lodge the staff were very helpful and did everything they could to try and rescue our holiday. We were very fortunate that we were able to rent a second lodge at short notice and were given a generous discount for remaining with the Mains of Taymouth. While we were there we had a fantastic holiday, the lodges were very well equipped and cosy, the staff were very friendly and helpful and even helped us to organise a birthday afternoon tea supplied by a local baker and delivered straight to our door. I had a great birthday and have some wonderful memories of a great family holiday to treasure. We will most definitely be going back to the Mains of Taymouth in the future 😀

Delighted with the standard of accommodation. We stayed at 6 The Maxwells. Beautiful bright villa with very large window looking out to the hill at the rear of the complex. There were a number of families using the holiday rentals but sound proofing was excellent and we never heard anything of our neighbours. The quality of all kitchenware was high and we were surprised to have so many baking trays, hand blender and table top grill available for use. The separate Utility Room was great. Luckily we had good weather but it would have been the ideal place to dry off wet clothing. Loved the ironing board hanger behind the door. Only criticism was the fact that to have hot water, we required to leave on the heating. This seems inefficient. We actually switched off the heating on arrival which meant that we had cool showers in the morning. Some signage would have been helpful to alert us to this. The shop was well stocked and useful and the pizzas from The Courtyard were good. We enjoyed walking in the area and it was pleasant to sit outside at The Paper Boat and The Kenmore Hotel. Thank you for a lovely visit. We hope to return and would not hesitate to recommend Mains of Taymouth to friends and family.

This was our second year at the Mains of Taymouth & our first time away since the easing of lockdown. The villa was spotless and beautifully decorated. We had been provided with a small supply of tea, coffee, milk and also washing up liquid, etc. The Courtyard Restaurant was well organised for social distancing with plenty of outdoor seating to eat and drink. Hand sanitizer was provided in the villa and throughtout the complex too. The setting of the villas are just stunning. The views surrounding Kenmore are just breathtaking. We will be back!

The apartments are immaculate, furnished with everything you could ever need in a holiday apartment, in fact it is basically a home away from home.
Pub/Bar and restaurant are 1st class offering a wide range of quality food at reasonable prices.
Our apartment was virtually on the 1st tee of the private 9 hole golf course on the estate, which was perfect, and clubs and trolleys are available to hire cheaply on a daily or weekly basis.
The immediate area is stunningly beautiful with lots of gorgeous walks etc.
All in all it was the perfect weeks retreat.

Booked the farmhouse to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. The property was fantastic, absolutely 5 star accommodation. So much space, having all rooms en-suite really made a difference. The hot-tub and sauna were great and used everyday (in the rain).
Booked the Courtyard Bar & Brasserie (owned by ABERFELDY PUBS) for birthday dinner. What a total disaster, it was steak special weekend 9 of us decided on steak ranging from Rare to well done. Sadly all steaks came out well done. We did speak to manager who took steaks away. 20 mins later a young lad came out to advise what steaks they had left, nothing had been cooked. We told them we were leaving & a stupid waitress by the name of Piper told us & I quote (there are more problems in the world than us not getting our meal). Bizarre statement to say the lease. I would not recommend visiting there.

Overall out fifth year at Mains of Taymouth and we cannot fault the standard, quality and overall value of the lodges.
However the Courtyard Bar & Restaurant this year was very poor (appreciating COVID additional measures) The service was abysmal; people were walking away after waiting 20-30 minutes outside for food or drink. The food was poor quality and the staff were unhelpful.
Mains of Taymouth are losing revenue hand over foot at a time when the hospitality industry needs it most. There should have been enough staff to constantly monitor tables outside and take orders, then more staff to serve.
On Friday 9th October we deliberately travelled up for 14.00 to have lunch and an alcoholic drink once the car was parked before our keys at 16.00. The Courtyard had decided to not serve alcohol inside from 06.00am whilst the government rules did not commence till 18.00. ( lost revenue all Friday pm when the weather was bitter and wet outside ?

Had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at Mains of Taymouth. The accommodation was great, really spacious and had everything you need (nice to have a full size fridge to stock up for self catering).
All the supplied crockery, pans and appliances were high quality too.
The customer service was great as well. They were so helpful especially given we left a pair of glasses at the house which they quickly organised posting to us.
Can’t wait to come back! Is such a lovely area too with loads to do.
Don’t forget to check out their shop which has loads of nice food and local items.
One hint: unless you fancy a scenic slightly off road journey to get there follow their instructions for putting ‘via Aberfeldy’ in your sat nav!

Response from The Manager, Owner at Mains Of Taymouth Country Estate & Golf Course
Responded 9 Aug 2021
And thank you for a wonderful review! We're so very glad you had a lovely stay and enjoyed the self-catering aspect of your visit. We have to agree that The Courtyard shop has lots of tempting goodies, not to mention the best fudge and ice cream for miles around (little wonder our diets never work!). Also a big thank you for the travel hint - and essential in the Winter months. Hope to see you again!

Hi Susan
Many thanks for your questions. We're pleased to advise bath robes are provided in Mains Park Court, we provide ice bags so you can make your own ice in the freezer but if you would like cubes available for a wee refreshment on arrival bags can usually be purchased from The Courtyard Shop or from the Co-op supermarket in nearby Aberfeldy.
Hope this helps,
Kind Regards
Reservations Team
Hi Fiona
Thank you for your question, some wheelchair users do holiday with us however we do not have any wet rooms in our self-catering properties.
We would be happy to discuss your requirements in more detail, contact details can be found on our website.
Kind Regards
Julie
Thank you for your question and apologies for the delay in responding. We work continually to improve the wi fi signal throughout the Estate but please bear in mind, without the luxury of high speed broadband in Kenmore, we rely on our own satellite system to serve multiple users at the one time. This service is free of charge as is the separate wi fi in The Courtyard Bar & Restaurant.
Pleased to advise 4G is available in Kenmore but please check the areas covered direct with your provider.
Some properties have their own dedicated wi fi so please do contact us for details if required, tel. 01887 830226.
Good Afternoon
Thank you for your question concerning a potential stay at Mains of Taymouth with your lovely dog.
Dogs are welcome in the majority of our luxury self-catering properties, they are not however permitted in bedrooms or on futurniture and may not be left unattended in the accommodation. This is not normally a problem as the on site Courtyard Bar, serving food daily, is also pet friendly.
Regarding leads, dogs require to be kept under control on the Estate as they will meet other dogs, wildlife, our resident ducks (and people!). Some properties have enclosed gardens, others not so please do enquire at the time of booking. Lots of lovely walks in the area.
Plenty of opportunity for swimming in either the River Tay or Loch Tay, both just minutes walk from the accommodation.
Hope this helps, any further questions please don't hesitate to check our website or call 01887 830226 9am to 6pm daily
Kind Regards
