Onar is located near Ahla beach. With respect to the protected park of the Ahla wetlands and inspired by Nature itself, we created a small settlement of nine individual, traditional cottages spreading next to the river and the plane trees. The harmony in design and construction of the cottages will put you in touch with nature. The cottages of ONAR benefit from the silent beauty of Cycladic architecture and are made exclusively of natural products: local stone, wood and river reeds. In the inside, minimal furniture and details of reeds and wood in white and earthy colors are harmoniously combined. All the cottages have a sitting room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, an open fireplace and a paved courtyard sheltered by a pergola. Large windows allow the day light in, provide for coolness during summer nights and give the sense of being outdoors.Staying in one of these ONAR cottages, with their emphasis on being at one with the natural environment, and enjoying simple and genuine Greek hospitality will make your dreams come true.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is truly magical. A secluded area in the valley of a mountain's nature reserve with the utmost perfect hospitality. Everything from the beach, the sounds, the stay, the staff was top notch.

Our time at Onar was Magical! This is a very special place and would highly recommend! If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a peaceful and tranquil setting, delicious fresh food, gracious and kind hospitality, beautiful setting, then don’t miss an opportunity to stay here. We are grateful for the wonderful experience and Teo and the entire staff were outstanding and truly made us feel welcome and were a highlight of our visit! We stayed in a villa up in the hill with gorgeous views of the “private” beach and morning sun rises. Everything was perfection. We can’t wait to come back.

This is our favorite holiday place for the last 11 years. Both kids and parents have always an amazing time. The nature around Onar is breathtaking. The sea has turquoise clear water that gives you a special energy. Everything has been done with the outmost respect to the environment. The staff is always so friendly and helpful that in the end you think of them as family. Food is amazing with delicious local products. Once there You reach surreal relaxation levels

Onar is an excellent place to find rest and relaxation before or after a visit to the Island of Andros. It is not very easy to get there, but once arrived you will not feel the need to leave until check-out day. The bare necessities are the best you can get, and particularly the food is brilliant. All veggies come from the garden, and the staff is quick and very personal in their services. The walk to the beach leaves sort of an explorer impression and so does the stroll up to the sweetwater pools upstream the little river. The stone villa's are well equipped and give enough privacy. A rare gem now; I just hope it will not expand or become too posh. Stay simple !

Hidden in between the many hiking trails of Andros lies Onar… a dream summer escape for those who choose a relaxing holiday immersed in the nature. Guests are welcomed in ‘the family’ by the family - waiters ask for your names (nice touch instead of being recognised as a room number!) - and they will all ensure you have a wonderful stay. The estate grants you access to an immaculate beach and pristine blue water sea, very difficult to reach otherwise and therefore quiet even in the middle of August! At set times breakfast, lunch and dinner are served - the ingredients are mostly sourced by their garden - also allowing guests to become a community and knowing each other. Onar is a rare find, very unique in its own kind. In a world where luxury is defined by the number of services offered, Onar choose to care and discretely entertain the guests. Thank you Theo & team - our family will always remember these days!

Thank you, Onar Team, for this lifetime experience! We spent 6 nights at Sunrise Villa with a pool. It was great to be in this nature-close resort, far from crowded areas. You can hear only sheep and goats during the evening. The location is super remote, and every guest gets to know each other after a few days. The staff is very kind and helpful with any issue. The restaurant is very clean with fast service. Pros: Remote location, one of the cleanest beaches in Greece, not overcrowded by tourists, no one is on the beach before 8.00 am, so you can even swim naked. Cons: The garden needs more focus, and to get to Hillside Villas, you need to do a little hill climb (but staff can always help with golf cars). Wifi should be included; there are many good options available. The restaurant could offer more Greek cuisines. OVERALL: This is a very unique remote hotel, run by a very kind staff, and owned by a family who welcomes you like friends, offering the best Greek hospitality. If you are tired of crowded hotels and love nature, you should try this! AMAZING!

This is our 2nd trip to Onar and it reminded us of why we decided to visit again. The location is a natural paradise with one of the best sand/small round pebbles beach and turquoise waters. The “resort” is a minimalistic wonder in an amazing natural setting with small but chic stone houses blending in the surrounding bushes and cliffs. There is nothing that screams mass tourism in this place, from the large open spaces and natural setting to the open plan restaurant and the pathway leading to the sea through the dry river bed. We enjoyed every day of our stay and everything was perfect. The staff is a small crew of motivated and hospitable people which by the 3rd day already knew is by name and were always there to help. Hats down to Steven, Romel, Nopi and Teo! Our daughter could run around the place freely without us worrying about cars or any other perils, the movie night for kids was also a great experience for them to mingle and make friends. The surroundings are great for exploring, you can do trail running, walk, hike, swim, explore the river. Also we rented a car and explored the island which is absolutely amazing. I believe the only thing worth improving would be a more local touch of the restaurant menu which, although served very good food with a relaxed gourmet approach, was in my opinion at times predictable and toned down to appeal to the generic traveller. Of course, this is down to personal preference. Keep up the good work guys, you’re doing it right and we will be back for sure.
