My husband and I stayed here after a multi-day walk on the western half of the Ridgeway. We stayed in Chocolate which is lovely. However, be aware that the steps from the pub to the rooms are very steep. The pub is wonderfully old-fashioned and has a marvelous garden in the back. The pub is located very close to the...

We had a room for two nights last weekend as my husband was running the 100mile race starting in Goring. The room was clean and nicely decorated, bed very comfortable, evening food good old fashioned pub grub (fish & chips and spinach & ricotta cannelloni were both delicious) with speedy service, and breakfasts really lovely. There is a very warm...

We chose this as a convenient stop on our Thames Path walk. The rooms are very well appointed, plenty of room and a hearty breakfast in the morning. As there were 5 of us we took all three rooms so it was like having our own private suite. Would recommend the place.

Spent a lovely evening here over the weekend and couldn't recommend it enough. The staff were extremely welcoming and relaxed, the breakfast was top notch (especially the sausages) and the room was the perfect country inn style. Couldn't recommend this enough.

We absolutely love this place! It never disappoints! Everything is spot-on, from the warm welcome to the comfortable beds to the breakfast the next day. We have stayed in the 'Chocolate' room a couple of times before and wanted this one again, but the 'French' room with large ensuite did in no way diminish our view of this traditional English...

Modern well presented rooms in a traditional pub. There are three rooms and we stayed in the Chocolate Room. Great hospitality from the owners. Good friendly service. A varied selection of food at reasonable prices. Well cooked and tasty. And last but not least, great beer. Truly the place to stay in Goring.

We chose to stay at the John Barleycorn Inn based on the excellent TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The owners (and punters) were friendly, our room (Chocolate) was comfortable, warm and quiet and breakfast was fantastic. Prices are very reasonable & there are a host of lovely walks on your doorstep. Highly recommended for a weekend break or longer...

Excellent place to stay, friendly staff and lovely room. Food in the pub downstairs was fantastic. I stayed in the French room, which was more than what I needed for a 2 night stay. No parking on site, but a safe and reasonably price car park just around the corner. Would stay again!
