Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Birthday stay for 2 nights arrived at the hotel to be met by a smartly dressed man at reception who gave us our key to our room my wife didnt like the room so we went back down to reception after waiting 10 minutes for the receptionist to appear smelling of cigarettes we asked to be moved to another room, later that evening we were stopped by the same man at reception to be told that we needed to be out of that room and put into another room as the room we were given was an arrival the next day, we wasnt happy at all my wife was upset by it all. We came away for my birthday for a couple of nights to be moved to 3 different rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable beds, came to reception at the end of our stay to be met by the same receptionist he was quite rude before i could say anything about our experience at the hotel i was told "here's your bill and ive taken off your drinks because of the moves" Well i wasnt happy as we was rushed to pay and leave due to the receptionist eating his breakfast. I dont think i will be visiting here again thats for sure

We went to use a gift voucher for afternoon tea with a glass of champagne. There seemed a problem over the booking and it was clear that we weren't expected. When I asked directly had there been a problem with the booking we were told that someone had used our table! There were many other tables available so not sure why that was a problem. Eventually we got our tea which was nice enough although two of the scones were rather dry. The main thing was the lack of enthusiasm by the staff. We didn't feel comfortable because of the way they hunted for the booking. We weren't asked if we wanted another hot drink and when we left there was no-one to speak to. As we left the building having said goodbye to the receptionist the waiter rushed after us to ask if we had had a voucher. They had been given that when we arrived. It made us feel as if they thought we were going without paying!! All in all disappointing - it had been a gift from my younger family members who had spent good money for this. I wouldn't go again .

This country hotel in lush green countryside is a tranquil hideaway and perfect retreat to relax and unwind from today's fast paced living. The staff were warm, friendly and professional. Utilised the Spa facilities and had some lovely soothing massages and treatments. The food was exceptional, tantalising and tasty fine-dining with simplistic but flavoursome combinations to tickle the taste-buds.. Birthday celebrated with my friend and we were not disappointed. Would highly recommend.

Stayed here for a short break visiting the Cotswold's. Absolutely first class hotel in superb location, with lovely staff, great food, excellent pool and spa. Would thoroughly recommend for a break away from it all.

We stayed at Cricklade House Hotel and Spa for one night. We had a lovely stay, room was very comfortable. We enjoyed the Ravioli and Stone Baked Pizza in the restaurant and it was very delicious! Great wines, beers and cocktail selection. Staff was very attentive during the stay and very professional. Great country house, nice spacious lounges and superb spa facilities. Definitely recommend! The property is beautiful and the view is lovely. The pool, sauna and steam rooms are simply great and while we stayed there, they were not busy at all which is exactly what we needed. We had the suite booked, but that was a little disappointing. The photos look great but the carpet is full of staines, the mirror on the wardrobe is broken at the bottom, i am pretty sure the bed is meant to have some side curtains since the rails are there, some lights were not working as well. Also, you dont get a coffee machine but just the nescafe instant coffee, and they dont even provide glasses. You have 2 plastic cups in the bathroom (?!).the bathrobes provided had holes in them, and the lady at reception said they dont provide slippers , but the very nice lady at the spa reception was kind enough to bring us 2 pairs. All this is not to say i was unhappy with the stay because the pool and sauna compensated for everything but i will probably not book a superior room again since i didnt quite see the value for it...

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Cricklade hotel. Great spa facilities. We had a lovely two course evening meal. Both the steak and lamb were delicious. Our waiter Wally was also great. Our room was very clean and had lovely views. The gentleman at the checkin was welcoming and very helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

Booked last minute for a business stop over Just over £100 b & b. Efficient friendly check in. Had a courtyard room which, while a little dated, was more than adequate. Coffee/ tea tray. Nice bed. Tv. Big room. Decent bathroom. Everything worked Had dinner in the restaurant. Very good. Nice bar area too Pool is lovely for a few lengths plus there’s a steam/ sauna room Breakfast was really good. Fresh local ingredients well cooked Staff were great. Very friendly with a can do attitude Will definitely stay again. Pleasantly surprised

I was travelling on business so looked up hotels in the area. Cricklade House had reasonable reviews so I booked. Just outside of Cricklade set back from the road in very impressive grounds. Very friendly receptionist gave me a full run down of the hotel facilities and booked my table for dinner. Very friendly and competent bar and restaurant staff. I The rib eye steak for dinner was the best I have tasted in quite a while, all food and drink at reasonable prices. Had a large room with great views over the conservatory into the country side. Outside would be great in the summer. I used the gym which was compact but had everything I needed. I didn’t have time for the sauna and steam room but great that they have them. I also had a four poster bed which gave me a quiet comfortable nights sleep. I plan to be in the area again in a couple of weeks and won’t be looking to stay anywhere else.

The staff guy on the evening shift at reception on 15 Sep was not only unpleasant but also directly told our guests he couldn't find any extra pillows and Left in a hurry. Also during the checkout he was very uncourteous Also we were made to pay extra 25/ night for a kids bed when we already had the booking for 2 adults and 2 kids. Such hidden charges should be clearly outlined on the website at the time of booking. Also during the checkout he was very uncourteous. Staff clearly needs customer service training. Wouldn't stay here again.
