Visited for breakfast, Alison who was working in the Restaurant this morning was so helpful and her customer service skills were absolutely fantastic. Very engaging and a real credit to the Hilton, Cambridge.
Like many people this year we had our original holiday cancelled. We didn't want to travel too far so when we received the Travel Zoo offer thought it would make a nice break. We were checked in quickly and were given the warm cookies which were wonderful with a nice cup of tea in our lovely room with a huge bed. I was booked into the spa and enjoyed the jacuzzi and pool which was very warm so I had a nice swim. We enjoyed a lovely 3 course dinner and the staff are all very friendly and efficient. Breakfast is ok, and I know with the covid issue everything is bought to you at the table but my husband had barely got his weetabix in his bowl when his cooked breakfast arrived so not sure why this has to happen. But on our second morning we both had porridge and asked for the cooked breakfast to be bought to us after we had finished eating it and that was better.. One of the lovely female waiting staff helped us out with finding the bus stop to Cambridge which we did manage to find. We aren't very good navigators but for anyone wanting to use the bus service you need to head to the back of Morrisons and cross over the road Returning from Cambridge the bus leaves from the road behind the bus station. Late Saturday afternoon, our anniversary day we had Champagne, Chocolates and Strawberries sent to our room from our grown up children, organised by Dora on reception, a lovely lady. I wasn't able to use the spa on the Saturday but got a quick swim Sunday morning before we left. There are lovely gardens to walk around with lots of seating areas but the weather wasn't very good so hopefully we can return when the weather is better. This is a very nice place to stay and the staff are wonderful.…
Extremely friendly, kind and attentive staff. A rather corporate environment, however for our visit a good arena for the high risk circumstance. We would like to make a very special thank you to Dora, the lead receptionist, who despite being under significant pressure, was both professional and attentive regarding our complaint pertaining to the Spa arena, which is unable to effectively comply with general IPC regulations and indeed the higher standard required to meet Covid 19 specifity in terms of IPC. A final thank you from Rufus dog who was made most welcome by all.
I emailed directly to the hotel before writing on trip advisor explaining how I would give them the chance to respond and act directly before leaving a bad review for others to see which would negatively impact their brand reputation, but they never replied. So here’s my experience... We were extremely disappointed with the experience of our stay, which was the Spa 1 night package. Let us begin with when we arrived. We did not have our spa robes in our room, of which reception told us we were not to have access to. Upon explaining that we booked the Spa 1 night package, the lady ran off to get us some. I had my treatment that afternoon, while my friend had hers the following day which we only just about managed to book upon a mere guess that we might have to beforehand, without any information telling us so. We assumed that naturally we would be able to use the spa facilities as part of our Spa 1 night package - we appreciate that there would be new measures due to COVID, but wished we were informed upon booking explicitly that we must book a slot. Not knowing this, we were unable to use any of the facilities at all, with the maximum 7 person capacity that was already full. Their website states that the amenities & services are available but just with reduced service, so we didn't think with our package that we'd have to book. Additionally, we were asked to pay for our treatments, where again we had to remind staff that this was included in the package we had already purchased. At this point, we were not at all happy with our experience so far, but were looking forward to our dinner and breakfast, hoping it would make up for it. However, it only got worse. Our dinner was served before our drink, and wasn't addressed until a while after whereby the maître d offered us a complimentary drink which we happily accepted, only to be asked to pay for this, along with the meal and wine (which is included in the package) when we checked out!!! I explained to reception that not only was our meal included in our Spa 1 night package (which we had to remind staff constantly, from the very beginning) but the extra drink was due to the poor service we experienced. As you can imagine this added the cherry on top of our awful stay. This situation at checkout happened an hour before we waited half an hour to be noticed at breakfast and take our order. We sat waiting, watching the chaos around us and had to ask a waitress to serve us in the end, where she said to wait for a further two minutes as she went off to dish up other people their breakfasts. When she finally came back, we settled for a pastry, knowing that it wouldn't take the waitress as much time to serve up as it would a hot breakfast. Not only that, but we had no time left to eat due to breakfast finishing and my friend having her treatment. There was no apology, or acknowledgement of the situation throughout. We paid a hefty £232 for dire service, poor breakfast, and no access to any of the facilities. At no point did we feel as though we were staying in a four star, luxury hotel. We feel disappointed and upset too that our complaint never got addressed via email. Perhaps it will be acknowledged on here. …
Mixed review as the staff were very nice and helpful, the evening meal and breakfast was very good. As a wheelchair user I found getting in the pool and jacuzzi fairly easy to get in and out of with help, we couldn't use the locker's as you need £1 to release the key, we were told to get changed in the room to make it easier for us, so we left our money in the room. Negatives- Had to go back to reception as the card wouldn't unlock the door, No leg on the corner of the bed, As two single beds put together, one squeaked with the slightest of movement, Duvet cover frayed, Towels stained and sellotape on the the curtain pelmet.
