The staff is unkind. The food is old! Maybe in the past hotel was good but these days it’s ugly low cost. We got poisoned by old dressing… I’m really sad about it. I’m informing sanepid because it’s not the first time there. Location is ok. Rooms are old.

We just returned from St. Jakob D. Ski resort is very nice, small but big enough for four days. Not many lifts but many slopes option plus two nice long slopes which runs down to the valley. Slopes are very well prepared. We stayed for four nights at hotel Alpenhof. Hotel is on nice quite location, 5 -10 minutes walking to the center of village. Hotel has own shuttle service which is perfectly organized, no waiting. With shuttle you are at gondola base station in less than 2 minutes. Hotel is very good, with great value for money! Some parts of the hotel are for renovation but very clean and this I do not see as an issue at all. Bathrooms are new, lcd tv, beds are very good, good wifi, wellnness center and pool are new and very nice. Restaurant is also nice. Bar is great with fireplace and a snack room close. Ski room is also very good. We had all inclusive service with great choice of drinks included all day. This was fantastic, especially if you have kids.Afternoon snack was great. We were happy also with food for the breakfast and dinner. People in hotel are very friendly and polite so with all incl. service we felt like at home. Every year we go to ski on different ski resorts ( more known and bigger ) and stay in good hotels but here we were more happy with everything. We would definitely recommend St. Jakob as a nice compact ski resort and hotel Alpenhof as a best choice for accommodation!

The view from the hotel room was beautiful. The hotel itself is old and needs renovation. But clean. The food was not really great. Staff at restaurant of our table ignored what I said several times and in the morning he was not in the mood for working and telling it in front of customers.

Nice and clean hotel with many amenities, yet affordable. The all inclusive package comes in handy for the kids and for some cool drinks after a long hike or after dinner. Hint: Leave some tips to appreciate the excellent service, and it will be appreciated! Special thanks to: 1) the chef - a local who prepares excellent food!!!, with a good selection! 2) the maids, also locals; 3) Rosella, who takes care of the kids when needed. And the director, Mrs. Berger, makes sure that everything is taken care of. The pool and the sauna are newly renovated and in excellent condition. Don't miss the rental bikes or the special deals for the rental e bikes at the local sports goods store. WiFi is convenient and fast. For the sake of completeness I'd like to mention that a gradual upgrade of some other public areas would be great too (furniture, elevators) although I am sure that Mrs. Berger is aware of it already. It would be great if there were some upgraded facilities in the hotel for the kids as well. Although, within 15min walking distance there are a great playground (near the river), minigolf and a soccer field. Aside from this, the bar and the sun lounge are great places to relax and enjoy a drink. And treat Wolfgang the head waiter well, a special character, and he will treat you well. ;-)

We spent an 8 day holiday in St Jacob in the beautiful 4 star Alpenhof Hotel with an all inclusive treatment. We are a family of four, with 2 kids age 3 and 8. We had a big room with very spacious balcony overlooking the mountains, adequate furniture with renovated bathroom, everything speckless. Gorgeous restaurant hall. Beautiful meals, lovely breakfast continental and savoury, in the morning they let you choose the main dishes for the dinner, they are always ready to oblige if you need to change something, Fabio is such a professional waiter you are totally looked after. The maitre Martin is there to make the restaurant the best part of your stay! There is a kid's menu too. Lunches are self service and include soup, some cold meat and cakes. The swimming pool is part of a refurbished area and looks like a spa, compact and essential. There is a baby club and the lady there, dear Rossella, is going the extra mile to entertain the kids and to keep them busy. Competent staff, reception and bar, absolutely enjoyable and a must see the Friday night show with the live Tyrolean dances straight in the hall!!! We would like to be back! We did not expect to find a homely atmosphere in a four star hotel, well done!

went on a shorttrip for snowboarding there. the hotel is great. looks like a typical "sporthotel" in the late 60's - but inside it is soooo beautiful! staff is very friendly, rooms are very clean and big, breakfast and dinner -> JUST great! (sooo yummy!) will definitely recommend that hotel in my circle of friends! and come back soon!

Outstanding value, nestled in a beautifully relaxing spot this is the perfect place to unwind in summer. Normally these large hotels are stale outside the winter season but this place was buzzing. Try the half board option, you will not be disappointed

We stayed at this hotel in March of 2008 for a week of skiing. Our entire experience was excellent. The room was large and comfortable and included a bathtub and balcony. The kids loved the indoor swimming pool. The restaurant served good food with plenty of choice. However, the best part about the hotel was the staff. So often these days, hotel staff seem to be just doing their job and not really enjoying themselves. At the Alpenhof, eveyone seemed to be very happy to be there and to truly care about making our stay special. Compared with other areas in Austria, the Defereggental is largely unknown and less expensive. The hotel includes a free shuttle service to the nearest ski area which is only a 2-minute ride. The name of the ski company is "bergbahnen st jakob" and you can find it doing a search on that name. The only negative I can think of is that the ski area by Autrian standards is small, with just 5 or 6 lifts. The terrain is mostly intermediate. However, because of this, it is not crowded, and there was never any waiting in line. The food choices and views at the ski area are also fantastic. Mostly Germans and Italians frequent the hotel, but English is also spoken. If you want an off the beaten track ski experience in Austria, I recommend the Alpenhof highly. PS: The name "alpenhof" is pretty common, so make sure you search for "alpenhof defereggental blu hotel". Which will direct you to the one in the Defereggen valley in the Osttirol region.
