Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very good location. Quiet. Lovely rooms and outdoor space. Great staff. And they have a copy of the movie "Rapa Nui" which they will play on demand! Their bar is not open (not sure if it ever was?) so they only have breakfast. They have a pool, but we were there in November so the weather was too cool- it looked lovely though!

The hotel owners, and family, were extremely kind, helpful, and welcoming! The rooms are average at best, but still comfortable, clean, spacious and offer everything we could want. For a quick stay wanting to learn about the island, have access to great tours, and walking distance to most restaurants this is a GREAT hotel.

I stayed at this hotel with a large number of colleagues recently. The hotel had literally only just opened after the Islands Covid Closure arrangement was lifted. The owners of the hotel did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible despite the fact that they were working hard to return the hotel to full operational status after the island closure. In short, clean functional accommodation located right in the centre of town with very attentive owners. Perfect for visitors. I look forward to a return visit one day.

This hotel is basic and a bit oldfashioned, but with all the woodcarving pillars and statues it had a nice athmosphere and pleasant location. The breakfast is very sober, the swimming pool small, but we enjoyed our stay here. It’s at the end of the world

The reviews here echo our experience, minus the bugs. The grounds are well kept, the location was excellent. The staff were all nice. No English spoken here. The rooms are pretty bad though. Mildewy smell we are still washing out of our clothes and bags, not very clean, room decor and fixtures in poor repair, tired, and a very sparse breakfast. Despite this, we found the common areas charming, the pool lovely, and enjoyed visiting with friends outside of our musty, dirty rooms. I do not know what one has to pay to get clean rooms in good repair with adequate services but I am told this place was par for the (high) price on the island. I am also told a few nicer, more expensive properties exist outside of the town. If I return, I'll pay the money to stay elsewhere. I feel bad about this review, only because I liked the staff and observed them working hard.

This was a great location, right in town and the grounds were lovely. However, it was winter and so the restaurant was closed. We couldn’t even get a cup of coffee anytime after breakfast. Another guest asked for a bottle opener and they could not help him. They advertise that you can watch the movie Rapa Nui - but it was not available unless we paid for a private viewing. The rooms were basic and cheaply decorated. No effort had been made to maintain them. The woman working the breakfast shift was lovely but the rest of the staff were unhelpful and bored. Worse perhaps was the cleaning staff left the window wide open - very easy to climb in thru. We asked for it to be closed but came back and it was still left open. The safe in the room needed a key - no idea where the key was! Wifi was only in the common areas but barely ever worked. But this is typical of the whole island.

Airport shuttle was supposed to be included. I waited a half hour then gave up and paid for a taxi. Scary Since I had no local cash so the taxi first had to drive me to a bank and wouldn’t take credit card. No English at the hotel. One night friends left a hand written note with dinner plans with my name on it. The note was given to me the next day at breakfast so I missed the outing. There was no Phone in the room or functioning tv despite description. Roosters and barking dogs howling all night. Security issue - Manager opens the door when you leave in the morning and leaves the 8 foot by 4 foot window open (no screen) so people can walk in! Then all day it’s open and you get home and curtains are closed and it’s darkness- you don’t realize. Let’s in roaches and snakes. No functioning WiFi - You can text one sentence but not send pics. Definitely not high speed WIFI for music. The desk guy signed me up for the Same tour twice! Cock roaches came flying out and a mouse so at 11pm I asked to be moved to a new room. Desk guy said after I showed photos - yeah that’s a problem. Room 27 to 25 which also - neither has air conditioning or fans!! Visible mold growing on bathroom grout and ceilings.

This is a hotel of a very poor quality. The rooms are made of a thin layer of pressed pieces of wood which has also gaps in the structure. There was scarce light. Some tiles on the floor were missing, the entrance door of the room had a gap where I could fit a hand. The bathroom door could not be closed (I do not mean it could not be locked...it could not be really closed). There were big cockroaches (beetles) everywhere in the room. We had to inspect the room every day and get rid of 10 of them across 4 days. The room was dirty and I did not feel safe in it. The neighbouring room had a water leakage in their bathroom for 2 consecutive days and it flowed in our room (not the bathroom....the real room) making our luggage wet. I reported it to the reception on day 1...nothing happened...we had to wait for a second leakage to happen in order to have it fixed. The price of the air conditioning was not included. So we had to pay 30 extra USD dollars per day to have it. I asked why and they said in a very unpolite way that this was what the agency booked. They said they would have given us a fan because this was the condition of the room. They brought a 20 cm by 30 cm fan....a joke. Stay away from this hotel.

My first day there was a nightmare. They promised me a discount if I paid everything in advanced. I understood that meant paying everything when arriving to the place and they never said otherwhise. When arriving to the place they told me paying in advanced meant “making a deposit in avanced an the hotel account”. Finally, I had to pay the complete price. The hotel looked good from the outside, so I though “OK, at least is seems to be a good hotel”. I expected something good, because I paid for a superior room, 176 USD per night. When arriving to the room everything looked good, but when I started unpacking and putting my clothes into the shelf, I realized there was one spider in each corner of each section of the shelf. I started to check the room and I counted more than 15 spiders in the room. People came to clean the place. They left me a spray against insects juts in case. After that experience, I started to spray the entire room. Suddenly, 3 cockroaches appear from under my bed! I killed 2 myself (the other one escaped). Clearly, my room has not been cleaned before my arrival. It’s a tropical place, so to see one cockroach can be expected, but 3 at the same time... That happens when people don’t clean a place properly. So, I went to reception, and they went to the room when I was out downtown trying to calm down (and buying Raid). When I came back to the hotel, they said “They found nothing”. Of course not, because I already killed the bugs, so I told him to look in my room’s trashcan. They told me that they would care everyday in a special way of my room, so it would be extreemly clean. I did not see more bugs either than a small lizard (I grab it and put it back to nature), but I’m not sure if that was because I cared of my room myself (I spraid raid everyday in my room) or because they really took the issue seriously. I never saw even the face of the hotel owner or manager, by the way. I had to stay there because I had no option (I already paid), but I highly encourage you to look for another place, with the a more modern infrastructure. The room had many little holes where cockroaches or spiders could hide. A friend was staying in another place, paying just 80 USD, and never saw a thing. She even a had a much better breakfast I had. I am Chilean and had lived in other places too inside and outside my country, and never had an experience like this one in other places in my country or other countries. Look for the reviews and take them into consideration before travelling.

Our room smelt musty the whole time we were here, the bed was not comfortable, sheets seemed a little too small for the bed and hot water in the bathroom did occur but not consistently. We were only here for four nights and it was bearable but I would not recommend this hotel.
