Very welcoming, room was extremely clean could not fault the cleanliness, wonderful shower facilities, very fresh bed linen and towels, the only down side was the bed, mattress was uncomfortable, I am 6 foot and the bed was a little short for me, but that's my preference. The breakfast was very plentiful, and hot, good quality produce. Would definitely recommend this b&b, parking no problem a good long stay car park just down the road. Think Dave and Wendy are doing an amazing job in this covid times they have certainly got it so right. Lovely quiet place very relaxing. Covid environment.
We booked Colebrook House as a last minute getaway at the beginning of September. I rarely write reviews but wanted to write this one as it was such a lovely place to stay! We booked it as from reviews it seemed like a good option. We weren't disappointed, the room was nicely decorated and so clean. The breakfast was amazing and you can basically pick whatever you want as Dave will happily combine different options for you. They are really accommodating, as I am gluten free and they got gluten free sausages and bread in for me and even put gluten free cookies in our room. It was a small thing but makes a difference! It felt covid compliant whilst retaining character. The village of Beer is also really pretty and has so many flowers in the village streets and a cove at the bottom where you can watch the sea coming in and out. I think Dave and Wendy provide a place with character, great food and a nice atmosphere. I would happily go back!…
Stayed for 3 nights. Lovely room slotlessly clean. Breakfast wasovely witn6nice hot atez. Only moan was that I had booked a double and it was the smallest double I have ever stayed in and mattress seemed quite thin. Also into days free parking. There is no parking onlyat pay and display.that aside would recommend as a get away from it all break
My wife and I were visiting Beer for the 1st time although my parents had been many times before. We stayed at Colebrooke house for 6 nights. The whole property was spotless which of course was a great comfort in these strange times. The breakfast was consistently good and plentiful, it set us up for the day. We didn't see much of Wendy, but struck up a nice rapport with Dave. It was nice to have a laugh at breakfast and his local knowledge was very helpful. If and when we re visit Beer, we won't hesitate to call Dave & Wendy 1st. We stayed in room 4. One tiny negative was that we had to spend £20 odd on parking for the week that was a short walk away. I am told that this is only out of holiday season.
Had a four day stay at Colebrooke - our second visit. As we found on our first visit the common areas and bedrooms are spotlessly clean. We had booked the first floor front but Dave - understandably a little harassed by all the Covid requirements - had put us in the upper floor back. Bit disappointing but not enough to mar our stay here. Breakfast was usual high standard. At present you will need to book evening meals at Steamers, the Dolphin, Smugglers, the Anchor (the latter our least favourite). Sadly, Gina’s hasn’t been open all summer and rumours are that it may well be closed permanently which would be a great loss to this wonderful little village. If staying two nights or more get a “season” ticket at the central car park. It covers ALL East Devon car parks so can be used at other villages and towns (Sidmouth for example)…
