I love this spa as it’s friendly, cozy and definitely affordable. Treatments are amazing, staff knowledgeable and happy to advise and spend time with you. The food is fabulous, I love the new way of serving lunch, the staff are always professional, friendly & engaging.

I returned to The Waterfront Hotel this year having stayed the night before our wedding last year, but bought along the husband this time. We were not disappointed with our stay and had a lovely time! Every member of staff we encountered from spa receptionists to waiting staff and the lovely lady who cleaned our room, was friendly, helpful and courteous and we were wished a Happy Anniversary a few times too. We did not go for any treatments but really enjoyed the spa area, it was busy but not crowded, having a glass of prosecco in the hydrotherapy pool was wonderful! Our stay was very comfortable, we upgraded our room to get mini bar and air con included and were also given chocolates and a card saying Happy Anniversary. Our package included 2 dinners, 1 spa lunch and breakfast each morning, all the food was excellent and the service again in the restaurants was exemplary, on one evening they laid out a special table for us for our anniversary and the waitress also bought us some Prosecco, it was a really nice touch on the evening! A massive thank you to all the staff at the Waterfront for ensuring we had an amazing stay, you are all a credit to the hotel :) We would not hesitate in recommending The Waterfront to our friends and family and hope to visit again in the future! (and maybe try some treatments!)

My wife spotted a picture for the thermal spa while making a voucher for someone's Christmas present and said that it looked lovely. I was already planning to book a spa break for her birthday and thought I'd find out more details of the picture she so admired. It turned out to be The Waterfront Hotel and Spa at Wyboston.
I booked directly with the hotel through their website as the two night spa package seemed excellent value for money.
The offer was 3 course dinner on both nights, breakfast both mornings and a 2 course lunch on our second day, so much food I know, along with two, four hour sessions in the thermal spa.
The room was excellent we had one of the deluxe rooms that even had a complimentary mini bar, very nice. The bed was huge, luxurious and very comfy. Bathroom had a walk in shower that was lovely. My wife was very impressed with the lighting and power sockets available for her make up etc (always important so i'm told!!).
We could not fault the food at all, breakfast was buffet with loads of choice ( two types of sausages and two types of bacon) the two course lunch had a wonderful salad selection along with some hot food choices then there was a dessert table to help yourself from. Dinner was again to a very high standard and lots of choice too. I have to say that I had informed the hotel prior to our arrival of my food allergy and every single member of the team in the restaurant were aware and were just brilliant in explaining to me what I could and couldn't have.
The spa facilities are excellent, we made full use of our two sessions and went into every available room, including the ice wall.
Will definitely be going back. 10/10 from us.

I’m a weekly visitor to the golf club and I’m seriously considering playing elsewhere after this weekends stay.
In early July, my other half purchased a Par&Spa package for us and another couple to enjoy for my birthday and this experience has totally ruined it.
First of all, days after booking the Par&Spa I was sent email saying that what was advertised wasn’t actually available. I understand why the Spa would be closed due to COVID but I shouldn’t have been given the opportunity to book the package if this was to be cancelled. We were given a refund for what the spa would have cost and ‘booked’ afternoon tea instead.
We arrived to a spotless room which was fantastic, thoroughly cleaned and even a cleanliness seal on the door to prove that no one had entered after it had been clean. Later that night, we had dinner and the food was lovely but the service was dreadful. After we asked for our bill, our waiter finished his shift and there was no other waiter around to ask. We had to wait a further 15 minutes until another waiter turned up. After given the bill, all waiters disappeared again so we had to pay at the bar instead.
The next morning we arrived for breakfast at 9am with a tee time for golf at 11am. Our order wasn’t taken until 10:15am and our cold food didn’t arrive until 10:45am. We asked a waiter if we could order our food and they told us that she was finishing her shift so she couldn’t take our order. This ended our relaxed stay turning everything into a rush, having to eat, check out and tee off within 15 minutes. As we were leaving, a waiter approached us and had noticed how distressed we were. Shortly after, they offered us a full refund on the breakfast.
We returned at 2:30pm to enjoy our afternoon tea and were mistakingly sat down with a party of 11. After we were sat down, we were told that our booking was actually for lunch and not afternoon tea. We were told that the chef didn’t have enough food prepared for us, even though we had booked a month in advance. Therefore, we had to settle for the overpriced lunch menu. Our waiter was extremely rude and unaccommodating with us. Once again, the waiter could see our distress and gave us 50% off the bill.
Throughout the whole stay the COVID PPE worn by the staff was inconsistent. They would speak to you within the recommended 2 metre distance and would wear a mask/visor when it suited them. Our experience left us feeling extremely unsatisfied and certain that we would not come back.

Response from Julia Boulton, General Manager at The Waterfront Hotel, Spa & Golf
Responded 31 Aug 2020
Dear Mr Keegan, Thank you for your review regarding your recent stay here with us at The Waterfront Hotel, Spa and Golf. As you are a regular visitor to the Waterfront Hotel, I am sure you can appreciate that this is not our usual level of service. As you will know, we endeavour to deliver the best customer experience and I am sorry that you felt the team were not able to offer this on this occasion in particular, and at breakfast. Further to this, I am sorry the package you had booked was unable to be fulfilled and I can assure you that we will investigate this internally to ensure we can identify resolutions to rectify this. With regards to our COVID procedures, we provide our team with visors to wear throughout service and we will be following up on this to ensure that these continue to be worn. However, if they are behind a screen when serving, this is designed to act as a barrier, therefore our team at reception would not be required to wear these in line with the guidance received from our external health and safety advisors. The government guidance did change upon the reopening of food and beverage facilities and is now a recommended “one metre plus” with regards to table spacing and the team do, where possible, keep distance from guests for their own safety as well as that of our guests. As a company, we have invested in thermal imaging technology at the main entrance of the property to check all guests and team members temperatures as they enter the building. Further to this we use anti-viral sprays on tables and touch points are cleaned and sanitised every 30 minutes, as well as ensuring hand sanitiser is available to both our team members and guests to protect all. With kind regards Dale Shaw Operations Manager

Went for a golfing weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the very good standard of the hotel .

Spoilt only by Covid .

The level of service was very good , Chloe looked after us and her energy and enthusiasm was great , so would like to pass on thanks to her .

The rooms are on the small side but the beds were really comfortable, and the bathroom was good .
On arrival there was the usual tea and coffee tray loaded with whatever you wanted including biscuits, this however was not replenished once.
I understand that housekeeping could not make up the room but I thought the tray could have been changed , not letting that take anything from our stay the room was very good . Flat screen television , hairdryer , and toiletries.

The golf course is quite challenging with lots of water , and unless you hit the fairway it can be tough to find your ball in the rough .

The greens were shocking , massive spike holes that made the ball jump as soon as it was hit , some of the holes weren't cut properly and had lips on them .

On the ones that weren't spiked there was sand and when it rained it was like putting on a beach.

Be aware if you are drinkers be prepared for a large bill , at £5 a pint it is not cheap.

The dinner was a set menu which was very nice , the sea bass was fantastic , as was the pork . The breakfast was the standard full English the only grip was it could have been hotter .

I had my cornflakes and before I'd poured my milk my cooked breakfast had arrived.
Felt a bit rushed .

Overall we had a good weekend , but until the greens have been sorted would not rush back to play again .

Just on a note we did not see one greenkeeper in the 3 days we were there .

The hotel has a contemporary decor and is bright and spacious when entering. The rooms are very comfortable with big tv’s and walk in showers, feels great just to be in them watching tv.

The spa facilities are very clean and look new, it felt comfortable just to circulate in there with other guests. There is a soft sauna, really hot sauna, steam room and a salt room (very refreshing). There is also an ice room, which is different and provides a bit of zing.

There is a thermal pool that is a combination of jacuzzi and hot tub, there are submerged sofas that can be lied on to fully rest the body. The pool can also be entered via a covered stairwell which is convenient.

What made this spa stand out were the staff, they were all happy and it shone through when dealing with them. All the staff i encountered were attentive and were a pleasure to deal with, maybe they spend a lot of time relaxing there too😄

Spa/Leisure Facilities:

The spa facility is small and the outside pool lacks space and a decent amount of hydro jet facilities/experience.. Although the sauna and steam facilities are very good and modern. The leisure facility was a big disappointment as we were expecting a much larger swimming pool to use prior to our allocated spa booking slot. It was also disappointing that the leisure facility is separate to the main hotel/spa building meaning that you can’t wonder between the two facilities without drying/changing first.

Room:

The room was very modern and the room facilities were very good. Unfortunately the bed let the room down and we did not have a comfortable sleep. The mattress was far too soft and we ended being folded up into the middle of the bed. I think it’s the mattress topper that might be the issue. This was a shame as overall the room was excellent. The only other disappointment was the room outlook which looked over a concrete car park. We expected a more pleasant outlook to be in line with your website description where it states the hotel being set in over 300 acres of green space and a lakeside position.

Hotel setting and location and appearance:

The description of the hotel setting and location on your website is not a true reflection. For a spa hotel, we were expecting a more idyllic lakeside position, yet in reality the hotel is adjacent to a very busy road and much of the surroundings and outlook are dominated by electricity pylons. The hotel itself is also not very architecturally appealing and is fragmented into several buildings with no consistent appearance. It was also disappointing to see that better use had not been made of the lake i.e. a pathway to walk around it.

Conclusion:

For functions and corporate events, I think the hotel offers good facilities and excellent quality food and service but we wouldn’t choose to stay here again for a spa break.

We had specifically decided to spend a couple of days away at a hotel WITH POOL. This hotel clearly advertises that it has a pool. But it is not in the hotel, it is some basic leisure centre across the road. Out of three possible days we got one swimming slot. Despite booking when we were told bookings open. So how come if it only just opened for booking that it was already full except one time. It was disappointing and felt far from any kind of luxury.

The hotel itself was lovely, staff on the desk and house keeping very professional and friendly, really made us welcome. The young ladies on the desk answered all our queries informatively and a gentleman from house keeping was quick to come and assist us with something. Fantastic. The room was hot but very comfortable. Large bed! Nice large window too looking out on a small garden. It all felt very clean and we appreciated the small touches like water, coffee, biscuits being replaced daily. And the big TV! The restaurant was nice, we ate in the bar area and there was a limited menu but everything we ordered was nice, except desserts which were v poor. Again service was good, friendly waiter. Nice view of the lake! The weather was hot and it was gorgeous sitting outside, but only 1 table had shade / umbrella and most of the seats missing their cushions or seat pads. It could be improved really easily by adding those things.
Breakfast on the first day was a depressing looking buffet I had the last fried egg and my husband got no egg :( and had to take the 1 last sausage, we were not late to breakfast at all.... second day was made to order which I was really happy about because it feels too soon after coronavirus to be using a heated buffet. And we each got eggs etc this time. Cereals etc were also available and plentiful. The coffee machine made nicer coffee than what was served in the pot and a great addition.

I would recommend as a moderate budget hotel. It was an easy, comfortable stay. Shame about the pool. Thank you again to all the staff who assisted us.

I wish they’d separate the spa, the hotel and restaurant on TA as they all perform and earn ratings separately.

Just returned from a two night stay in a superior room. Tea and coffee stains galore all over the carpet in 282. Previous guests have clearly not taken care when they’ve made hot drinks. If the carpet was cleaned more regularly it would prevent the awful staining we saw.

The spa was very well run and all guests were very respectful of keeping space and not over crowding any one area or zone.

Steam room broke on Friday. Was reported by myself and fixed within the hour. Very good I thought.

Food … breakfast and lunch ok but dinner service was tragic. Menu items unavailable on both nights. One dessert was unavailable on two consecutive nights. Food itself was dry and not overly hot. Banofee tart was the worst banofee I’ve ever had. Overwhiped cre on a pastry tart. No caramel layer. No banana layer. Instead there was four pieces of dried banana like you buy in the health food shops and sprinkle on muesli, and a small amount of toffee and choc sauce to garnish. Utterly tragic.

Our waiter couldn’t apologise enough.

Three tables of guests sat side by side last night and all three of us were looking forward to the tandoori chicken burger which was unavailable by 1930. No replacement offered.

Gins were served the wrong way around so my friend and I added the wrong mixers. Waiter apologised and replaced immediately. Waiting staff were excellent. Food was not.

I’ve stayed before and the food is normally brilliant so the food was a real let down this time.

Responded 28 Oct 2021
Good morning Mrs Patterson, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we have taken on board your comments and others to ensure we can offer the standards you are accustomed to. Whilst the carpets are cleaned regularly I can confirm that we currently going through a process of replacing all carpets in the rooms for the very reason you mentioned. National supplier issues have impacted us across the board but aside from that (and to move away from our reduced post lockdown menu) a brand new menu will be launching in November which will be focused on locally sourced quality produce. This co-insides with a full refurb of all public areas including reception, bar, restaurant and outside areas. We are very excited to give the whole place a fresh and more modern look and hope to welcome you back in the not too distant future. Kind regards Craig Hurdidge Guest Services Supervisor

For a 4 star hotel we wouldn't expect the king size bed to be two mattresses put together with a topper, especially when we were supposed to have been upgraded from a double bed. We had issues with lighting, electricals, and some cleanliness worries with regard to the bed sheets. There were no bath robes again which we would have expected from a 4 star hotel. The room tablet did not advise when food via room service was available until which then meant we missed the cut off. Overall we were very disappointed having stayed at the willows training centre for half the price. The stay this weekend was a big let down, given the price it was not double the quality or the luxury. To sum up it was not worth what we paid.

Hiya, The hotel and Bar are okay, it is not dress up material if that is what your looking for. We played golf and went jogging. There are water activities nearby however, we did not use. If you are wanting something special I would suggest elsewhere. If your looking for just a cheap weekend away then proceed and book. Good luck.
