Cosy hotel in the city. Very quiet in the night. Old and charming hotel; room was oké and clean. Bed in our room was perfect (room 115). Bathroom old and not practic. It was a bath tub with shower and it was difficult to get in/out. Restaurant nice and very charming. Food was oké with show cooking.

We stayed here as part of a tour group as it appears there is limited accommodation in the area. The hotel certainly shows it's age as an original workers accommodation for railway construction workers then converted to a hospital. There were mixed reviews between our group about the standard of bedding, ranging from fair to very good, so it may depend which room you get. If not entirely happy on check in, do ask to see if another room is available, as some of our party had their rooms changed on request. Some rooms have kettles/coffee/tea etc, some didn't. Buffet breakfast here was the standard buffet with tasty local options. Some members of our group also enjoyed dinner here, while we chose to eat dinner in town which is only a short walk away. There is a mosque directly adjacent to the hotel, which we heard the call to prayers on our first night, but slept through on the second night. They also have a bar with friendly staff - large lion beer 920lks, wine 1200lks.…

We spent two nights at this property as part of our tour. The property is old as is to be expected - its been around for over 100 years but it is clean and the service is fantastic. The rooms are very basic. We had two single beds pushed together and a claw foot bath. The Gardens are beautiful and the sitting area/lounge was very comfortable. The food was all lovely and they also put on a cooking demonstration for us. They had a buffet dinner out in the gardens which was lovely also. It was a good location close to town but far enough out that it wasnt noisy or busy.

Maybe my expectations were too high. I was expecting a charming old hotel from a by gone era, and whilst ilt's definitely from a by gone era, it's lost a lot of its charm. In fact I think it's about time to be put out to pasture. I found the rooms old a musty smelling and the bathroom smelt of old drains. No complaints about the food as both the breakfast and dinner buffets were very good. Service was ok, nothing stood out, but no complaints either. The location is convenient, but that's about it.

The hotel was OK, it is a colonial style building with old style bedrooms and bathrooms. However, there is a large Mosque over the road, so you will be woken up at dawn every day by the wailing from the Mosque speakers.

Little value for money - we were here for lunch and the meal was overpriced, average food quality with dirty table-cloth. There was no soap on the toilet and there were little annoying mosquitos everywhere. I would recommend different places in this area.

I want to express my deepest GRATITUDE for the wonderful service and care given during our stay by the staff of Bandarawella Hotel! During our pleasant stay we experienced a medical emergency and the staff of Bandarawella Hotel went ABOVE AND BEYOND their responsibilities to make sure we were well looked after. They acted IMMEDIATELY and saw to all our needs, even during the hospital stay. Be it bedding, food, transport...it was all provided without us even asking for it! Whole hearted appreciation to the General Manager, front office, restaurant and kitchen staff, room service and security. OUSTANDING service by the whole hotel. I'm in awe! With regards to the hotel in general, this colonial quaint architecture makes you feel like you were teleported back in time. It was the perfect location to wind down, relax whilst enjoying delicious, hearty meals and the cool breezy weather! This hotel will definelty be on my travel list again!!…

We have travelled to Bandarawella several times before but was the first time we stayed at the Hotel. Our stay was excellent and memorable. Ratings given was for the excellent service, cleanliness and facilities. For a 3 star hotel, all the basic amenities are available. The history and colonial look of the hotel is well preserved. Given that the hotel is in the heart of the town and walking distance to public transport, markets and sites of interest places this hotel in our top list.
