Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My family and I enjoyed a 9 day stay at Westhaven Bay Hotel. Our experience reveals a mix of positive and negative aspects that I wish to share through a comprehensive review, and rate at the level it deserves. Let's start with the POSITIVES: - The apartments, spacious and fully equipped, offer great value for money. - Nestled in the charming 'Costa del Silencio,' the hotel's location near the water and a short 15-minute walk from a small beach is a true highlight. - The swimming pool, coupled with a decent restaurant, creates a pleasant haven for relaxation. Now, there are also some significant DRAWBACKS to consider, especially the last one that I give details about: - The summer heat transforms the apartments into uncomfortably warm spaces, leaving my wife, son, and me struggling for restful sleep. Surprisingly, there's no provision for borrowing or renting fans to alleviate the situation. - The beds comfort leaves somewhat to be desired, whether it's the couch or the top-floor bed. Despite the apartments' overall new appearance, the quality of furnishings sometimes falls short. We even encountered a two-day inconvenience when a lock issue blocked our front door, forcing us to use the back entrance. - The initial promise of 'free parking' (on booking.com) is somewhat misleading. The limited parking spaces relative to the number of guests led to an unexpected financial burden, the STORY of which I'll recount below. STORY of parking issue : Spoiler, our parking misadventure ultimately ends with our car being towed by 'La Grua' resulting in an unforeseen total expense of 124 euros. This happened on a specific evening when legal parking spaces were scarce by 6PM. After searching, we resorted to parking in front of the residential area entrance, though illegally, with my car-sick five-year-old son in the car. My intention was to relocate the car after dinner when non-residents using the pool area would have departed. Regrettably, the car was towed before 10PM... The context behind this situation is intriguing: The hotel owner's son's wedding celebration was happening that day at the swimming pool. This celebration not only diminished the pool's accessibility but also occupied a significant portion of the parking area, almost 20%. With my car inadvertently blocking some guest vehicles parked within the residence, the hotel owner orchestrated the intervention of police and towing services. While admitting my bad parking, I couldn't help but see a fundamental conflict of interest. Prioritizing a personal event, the wedding, over the comfort of paying guests (clients to the business)

We stayed as part of a group from a wonderful Charity, San Miguel Lions and When You Wish Upon a Star for Disabled Children and their families. The Hotel is truly fantastic! The apartment, a two storey - with Balcony was stunning and immaculate! Not one bit of dirt. Beds very clean & comfy and all covered with (none crinkly) mattress protectors! It’s called an ‘apartment but it’s like a house it’s HUGE! Downstairs toilet, bathroom upstairs, two bedrooms with twin singles in each. Kitchenette with all that’s needed including a washing machine. The Staff were absolutely Fantastic!! Nothing too much trouble and exceptionally friendly👍 Reception Staff had a wealth of knowledge on all activities available in Tenerife. They kindly booked the trips my son and I wanted to do and the price was the same as activity website etc. The outdoor pools are HUGE and again immaculate! There was evening entertainment on most evenings, PLENTY for kids to do, and a couple of nights singers. for the adults. Westhaven is very Family Friendly, right on the sea front and the local buses running from the end of the car park. Theres a supermarket next door with quick / private access for guests using a coded gate. Here’s the BIGGIE for Us…………. My Son has 20 life threatening allergies. The Lions Club contacted the hotel upfront to notify them. All Staff and I mean ALL STAFF (even reception staff who have no dealing with the restaurant / food) knew each and every allergy. The restaurant Staff were OUTSTANDING, they made everything so stress free which is very rare these days. It was clear the management had held a meeting with all staff prior to our arrival. Eating went very smoothly, waiters and chefs very friendly. They accommodated every food request seamlessly. They chopped and changed my sons requests without any problems, my son LOVED the banana splits! Prices were good. On the days my son struggled and couldn’t do the restaurant, again no issues, they packaged his food up as a take away. So to summarise, Westhaven is they place to go!!

We went on this holiday with the lions club, the hotel is amazing we stayed in. It's like a home from home, shop nearby, washing machine, fridge the lot. The view is stunning! The food was amazing, really nice. My children loved it :)

This review is on behalf of San Miguel de Abona Lions charity for disabled and disadvantaged children holiday project. We brought a group of five families (11 adults and 17 children of various ages) for a 9 night stay. We cannot fault the hotel or the staff. Without their co-operation our job would have been a whole lot harder. Every request we made was dealt with immediately - anything from meeting special dietary requirements to changing rooms, meals etc.. The staff have bent over backwards to accommodate us. From Nele, the manager to the waiters, everyone was wonderful (special mention to Debby and Yuri in reception). The hotel is in the most superb location with sea views and the rooms are superb. Spotlessly clean and spacious. Some of our guests said they were better than their own homes. Nele even arranged some pool parties for the children at no cost to our charity and allowed us to hold our own entertainment one evening. We cant thank everyone enough for making sure our guests had a great time

Stopped for a drink, price was double anywhere else. You can't pay the waiter, you have to pay at the till, they don't take notes you have to put note in a machine which in my case a 20euro note was rejected 10 times . So they don't want to display a union Jack on their menu and they don't trust their staff.

Excellent, friendly service, everything was done to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. The staff really care about their customers. The apartments were spacious, comfortable and clean. The recently refurbished apartments were superb and all of the apartments were well equipped with all you could need. The restaurant was in a beautiful setting with a wide variety of food, snacks and a la carte - you could eat there every night and still find something new on the menu. Highly recommended.

This must be the best place in Costa del Silencio to enjoy a morning coffee, snack or meal, with a beautiful view across to Las Galletas and warm sunshine, or shade if you prefer. On our recent trip we visited many times and were never disappointed with the excellent quality and superb value. The highlight was the mussels that we ate one sunny afternoon, which will always linger in the memory. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon.

The apartments are very spacious and clean. Kitchen appliances, crockery, towels, all present and in good condition. Swimming pool also heated in winter. Next to the swimming pool you can participate in gymnastics twice a week. Beautiful terraces at each apartment / cottage. Several times a week free performances by artists who bring a lot of atmosphere. Then the food... Extensive menus. Breakfast: perfect; Lunch: perfect; delicious desserts in the afternoon: perfect (for a coffee + chocolate mousse + cake = only 4 euros) on Saturdays in winter: Brussels waffles; dinner: perfect. Lobster Festival, Chateaubriand Buffet; Daily menus with democratic prices. Close to the Ocean. Nice walks. No noise from cars or public transport. Bus stop 200 meters away. Bus and tram are free. Staff: cheerful, obliging, correct and very helpful. In one word: TOP!
