We had a lovely stay, the suite room we had was excellent. My wife has booked again for later in the year as she really appreciated the standards. The views across the Kent Estuary were brilliant and the breakfast was first class.

Lesley the proprietor was very friendly, and greeted me on arrival. Beautiful hotel. So many extra details that were much appreciated, dressing gown, home made flap jack, good quality coffee and toiletries. The hotel was immaculate and luxurious. The mini bar is a great extra, although we didn't make use of this, due to the pub near bar :) Close...

Difficult to know what further comforts a Guest House could provide more than what's here. Mini-bar in the room, even. The lounge, and some rooms, have a marvellous view over the estuary, the room and bed were cosy, the owner and staff friendly and efficient and the breakfast variety immense including vegetarian choices. Handy location, about 10 mins walk from...

First, but probably not the last, stay at Number 43. This was a last minute booking as we decided to tack an extra night onto our few days in the lakes. An excellent find and one of the cleanest establishments we've stayed in. Room was spotless (apart from the empty water bottle fallen down behind the dresser under the TV)....

Hi Jo Thank you for taking time to write a review. Yes Arnside is special, less rain than Windermere, less crowds, more gift shops than Kirkby Lonsdale, great pubs, coffee shops, views and walks, and the sunsets........ And of course Number 43! In case I forgot to mention is also in the Michelin Guide as one of their Extra Special...

This is a very comfortable bed and breakfast with lots of gorgeous extra touches like homemade biscuits and proper coffee in your room and also soft fluffy robes. Our room was beautifully decorated and everything had been thought of - like a home from home. Breakfast was yummy and freshly prepared - we loved the fact that everything was home...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Last night at The Enjoy England for Excellence Ceremony we were awarded Gold for the Best Bed and Breakfast in England by Visit England. The position here is fabulous: a vast sky, a pretty village, the Kent estuary spilling into Morcambe Bay. Huge views shoot off to the Lake District, where distant peaks take to the skies. You're at the end of the road, more likely to be disturbed by commuting birds than a car, so sit on the terrace and watch the train puff across the viaduct or follow a flock of geese as they sweep through the valley. As for Number 43, interiors shine after a total renovation. You get glossy books and great views in the sitting room, then an honesty bar in the dining room, where delicious communal breakfasts set you up for the day: freshly squeezed orange juice, baskets of patisserie, porridge with honey and sugar, the full Cumbrian works. Bedrooms vary in size, but all are elegant with warm colours, fabulous linen, excellent beds, sparkling bathrooms. Two suites have the view, one has a free-standing bath by the window in its en-suite. ... more   less
