Wonderful hotel, will try and add something extra from other reviews...we stayed with 2 children ages 12 and 14 n the Waldklause suite in June. Firstly the website is a bit tricky to navigate so best call or email the hotel to get availability in an efficient way! Our suite with 2 bedrooms was beautiful, even had a kitchenette and full sized fridge. Wifi was already setup there, despite other reviews. Although not targeted at kids for older (quieter) kids this is a great hotel. For the food at dinner, there is a daily changing menu which has 5 courses, with a choice of 2-3 dishes (except dessert) for each course, including vegetarian. In addition there are other choices for each course that don't change, but are available all week if you don't fancy the daily choices. Furthermore there is a kids menu so they can swap in the main dishes with simpler dishes, still high quality. The "afternoon tea/late lunch" is soup, salad buffet. and lots of cakes/pastries. There is also a small menu if you prefer to pay for something more substantial. Water teas and coffees free throughout. We took the bikes out a couple of time. You can reserve them from 24 hours ahead of time, but they never seemed booked up. The smallest one was just suitable for our small 12 year old. There are many great cycle paths up and down the valley. The pool was nice, limited access to spa area for kids, and everyone needs to already change into pool gear before going to pool/spa area. There was a yoga class and an organised hike everyday. although we didn't do tase, we did use the gym area which was well equipped and no one else was in it! Free access to the dome swimming thermal place 5 minutes walking was good to have, especially if you have younger kids or want a lazy pool day. Some amazing via ferrata and climbing in the area. Local sports shops will rent you the equipment and you just take yourself off (or get a guide). The town itself is very small and nothing to write home about but the surrounding scenery and activities make up for this, and you won't be eating out anyhow.

This was our first visit to the Naturhotel Waldklause.
Hopefully it will not be the last. Our German friends recommended, and it did not disappoint.
The management and all the staff were superb.
The room could not be faulted.
The beds and facilities are second to none.
Even though the hotel was full at times, the brilliant way the restaurant is designed, meant it never felt crowded.
The hotel offers a superb swimming pool, saunas (4), and lots of other pampering.
My congratulations to the Auer Family, for there imagination with this brilliant Hotel.

Amazing hotel and its stuff, I was there with a female friend. And we could not have a better stay! we went everyday hiking. in the afternoon we used the spa and swimming pool. and had our apero outside. Everything was offered with a hint of love, the right amount of passion and full force with nature facilities.
The food was very nice (for us nearly to much). The only critics, the portion of the kaiserschmarn was so big - I could finish it. (and my heart was bleeding (food waste).
The wine card was extensive and we had a fantastic sommelier which gave us good advice of what to drink. All in All it was top 5 days stay - highly recommend it. But the ice on the cake - Mr. Auer drove us to the translation ! What a service ! Thank you

Absolutely fantastic place to stay, relax and enjoy the alpine air and delicious food. Was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite which had 2 balconies with a view of the mountains, which was an absolute joy to stay in :-) Everything about the room, hotel, restaurant area and pool area is very well designed with very tastefully decorated. The pool is fantastic for swimming and for relaxing, with plenty of space for guests to laze around and enjoy the view and sun. Another highlight is the food - all immaculately prepared and served at a table that is assigned to you for your entire stay (nice personalised touch). Food quality and presentation - amazing! Luckily there is a gym to work off all those extra calories which one simply cannot resist.
Service is also fantastic and staff are always on hand to help out with a smile.
Overall, an excellent place to relax in the Alps! Would return again without any hesitation.
PS. next to the restaurant there is a small store that sells some of the decorative items used at the hotel - the colourful candles were a great buy and remind me of my wonderful stay at the Naturhotel :-)

We spent 4 nights at the Waldklause over New Year's, which is why we had wanted it to be a unique experience. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but to be honest, I would have expected more from a hotel with a 4-star rating and in this price class.
It was mainly the lack of attention to detail that didn't really live up to our expectations.

It started with the welcome we received, which I felt was a bit frosty, especially after the fabulous experience I had made in the past in Austrian hotels. Upon arrival, we didn't really know where we could leave our car, so for the time being I parked it in a vacant parking space outside, while the whole family waited in the car and I walked up to the reception. I asked where we could park the car, so that we could all unload our luggage and come up reception for check-in. The staff, however, insisted that I first fetch everyone in order to fill in the check-in form, adding that 'we could worry about the car and the luggage later'. This didn't seem very customer-friendly to me.

Throughout our stay, there were other details that we were not all that happy with:
- There are two towels for the spa area in the room. After using one, this was not replaced.
- On the day following our arrival, we went out after breakfast, hanging the usual card ('please make up our room') on the door knob, and didn't return until early afternoon, only to find that one of our rooms still hadn't been cleaned. A complaint prompted a promise that it would be taken care of immediately, but we had to spend another 90 minutes or so in the lobby, waiting for it to be done.
- My parents left the balcony door open before they went out. Several hours later, when they returned, they found the room made up, but the balcony door still open (with outside temperatures well below freezing!). It took them several hours to get the room temperatures back up to an acceptable level.
- When inquiring at reception about the start of the aperitif before the New Year's gala dinner, we were given a wrong time - half an hour later than it actually started...
- The service in the dining room seemed to lack co-ordination most of the time, leading to the same questions being asked by two different members of staff, and to a very long wait on one evening.
- A waiter asking us to take two champagne glasses directly out of his hand when serving us, seemingly out of his own convenience and so that he wouldn't have to put down whatever he's holding in his other hand, is not the way I would like to be served in an establishment of this category!

On the positive side, the food was undoubtedly excellent, and the selection of bread at the breakfast buffet was the best I had ever seen. Also the wooden architecture makes the hotel a very cosy place, inviting to relax.

Still, all things considered, I felt it was too much average for its class and for the price we paid.

Truly one of the most wonderful places we've ever stayed. An endless trip from the West Coast via Chicago, Zurich and a train from Zurich to Otztal, where we were met at night at the train station by a friendly driver who navigated up through the valley to the Naturhotel Waldklause. What a warm welcome! The front desk staff quickly registered us and escorted us to our suite, explaining how everything worked and made sure we made it to the dining room before they closed for the evening The dining room is arguably the best that I have had the pleasure to experience in a hotel of its size. The food was fresh, organic, beautifully presented and tasted as good - or better - as what I've experienced in top restaurants here in the States. Hats off to Herr Fink and the kitchen! More than enough wonderful food and drink. The in-room faucet of spring water was a lovely touch. The hotel spa and relaxation areas were immaculate, soothing and relaxing - and of course the short walk over to the Aqua Dome allowed for a spa and pool experience on a larger, almost theme park scale as opposed to the lovely intimate setting of the Waldklause. Nice that admission is complimentary to all guests of the Naturhotel. The setting for the hotel is beautiful. The Auer family take great pride in their establishment. Several times Frau Auer stopped and chatted with us to ask how we were enjoying our stay and if there was anything they could do for us. All of the staff - the wait staff in the dining room, the housekeeping staff, Martin at the bar, Lisa and the others at the front desk - were warm, friendly and helpful. I believe we were the only native English speaking guests on our visit, yet they printed a menu in English for us every evening. We want to plan our next trip soon - it's a long way from the West Coast, but worth it.

Overall - excellent. The best indicator - our 12 yo didn't want to go home. What exactly makes this place special: 1.noise free, the hotel is far from the main road 2. Architectural masterpiece inside and outside, we enjoyed every little detail 3. Spacious rooms 4. Drinking spring water in the room 5. Outstanding spa area: no crowds like in Aquadome, full tranquillity, we enjoyed outdoor swimming pool and Turkish marble steam room, herbal teas and veggie nibbles. 5. Food is of Michelin star level both presentation and taste. The ingredients are healthy and lots of bio products. Dinners are almost always a la carte, portions are quite right not to overeat. 6. Buffet lunches – soup and salads and 1 main course and some desserts with healthy soft drinks and teas. 7. Mountain snow walking trip: 2 km up in snow walkers, tea in picturesque alpine inn and 2 km down in individual sledge nonstop at high speed. What we didn’t like but it will not stop us from coming back: 1. there was a step dividing bedroom and sitting areas in our room, we kept bumping into it 2. Dinner normally lasts for 2 hours, service is very slow: I believe on purpose to make us enjoy the experience. After active day we’ve been very tired and unfortunately had to speed up waiters after each course: looking for them and asking to bring the next dish. To finish on a positive note – one the best hotel I ever stayed.

I found this hotel by chance surfing the net last year, as I wanted to visit the Aquadome.
We wanted to spend most of our time at the spa, so it would have been convenient to actually stay at the hotel connected to the spa complex, but we decided to stay at Naturhotel Waldklause instead as soon as we received their first email in reply to our enquiry, as it sounded very special already.
Once there, we realized that the very short walk from the hotel to the Aquadome spa complex (maybe 2 minutes: the two premises are separated by a little river which you simply cross over a lovely bridge) and the hussle of getting changed in the swimming pool changing rooms, was worth the much more special atmosphere we enjoyed in our room and generally in the whole hotel!
The decor and furniture are impressive and feel extremely warm: very stylish, beautiful colours and details.
The rooms- and bathrooms- are very spacious, extremely clean, very comfortable and with a large balcony.
Food is excellent and always interesting. Every night the tables are decorated in a different distinctive style, so it seems like you are in a different restaurant every day. Good selection of wine.
The staff attending the table is adorable and always very helpful and smiling.
We loved it so much that we were back 3 times in a year (our first visit in september 2010; our second visit in february 2011 and third visit in august 2011). The last time we were there, we found the new spa area that was recently built. It is an absolute bonus, like the cherry on top of a cake.
We look forward to go back as soon as possible!

We were lucky enough to stay at this incredible hotel for a total of 4 nights. Unfortunately, this is not enough!!!
What a lovely place the Auer family have created? Superb rooms, spectacular architecture, top service and the value is out of this world.
When you book a room at the Waldklause, you'll have free access to the Aqua Dome water park next door. The hotel also offers a spa area, that relaxes you all the way to the bones. And last but not least, incredibly tasteful food (breakfast and dinner plus an afternoon snack bar) is included too. Don't miss out on the mouthwatering "Waldklause Spezialmüsli" (a special müsli) in the morning - your tastebuds will explode ;-)
All in all I must say... this is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed ever!

The Naturhotel Waldklause was amazing. Our family of five stayed there for ten days. We used it as a base to hike in the Oetztal. Everything about the hotel was superb. Frau Silke at the check in desk was very courteous and answered all of our questions patiently. The owner, Frau Auer was a generous host. The waitstaff in the dining room were excellent, including Phillip who helped us get our multiple courses on time. The food was really amazing. We had the hotel make us lunch sandwiches for our hikes- this was really helpful and useful and they also included a lot of fruit which were enjoyed by all.

We had a pool and a sauna in our suite which we used daily. The rooms were cleaned promptly and towels were restocked every day.

Everyone in the family loved this summer trip and can’t wait to get back there soon.

Guten Tag, gibt es bei Ihnen Valetparking und abends einen Turn Down Service? Beste Grüße

Dear tonicesar, it is true that wifi is not available in our rooms. This is because the solid structure of the hotel means that we would have to instal many, relatively powerful access points in order to ensureflawless reception. However, a number of experts have advised against this as such points have been shown to generate waves that can have an impact on your sleep. Good sleep is very important to us and the demand for "radiation-free rooms" is also growing. Nevertheless we offer small routers which enable wifi just in the area of a guests room. Yours sincerely, The Naturhotel Waldklause-Team

Hello fred, thank you for your interest in our hotel. Next to our hotel there is a tennis court which is free to use for our guests. During winter the court is used as an open air ice rink. For our guests the entrance is for free, as well as borrowing skates. Usually they play soft music on the ice rink during the afternoon. Next to the tennis courts is a local football ground where the local club in our village usually has a game per week. But now the football season is over and therefore there are no games untill april. We have live-music two or three times a week in our lobby or the dinnig area. There are different bands and musicians playing at our hotel: all of them make soft music like piano music or accoustic music. None of them is using drums. The music should not be heard in our guest rooms. Our Naturhotel offers an in-house spa area for its guests with heated outside pool, whirlpool, different saunas and steam baths, relaxing room, infrared cabins and various massages and beauty treatments. In addition to that our guests have free entrance in the Aqua Dome thermal spa in Längenfeld, which is a 200 meter walk away. For your preferred room type please contact our reception - they would be happy to help you finding the right room for your needs. Yours sincerely, the Auer Family and the Naturhotel-team
