We stayed as a family and found the accommodation to be comfortable, staff friendly and food great. It is a lovely springboard to the natal midlands and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel has sweeping views over the countryside with a nice pool and loads of casual space to catch the sun and chill out, the restaurant serves a...

I stayed in a hotel in Tzaneen last week with a 3 star rating and giving this hotel a two star rating is very generous. We arrived to find the TV wasn't working so we looked for a phone to call reception but there wasn't one in our room so I used my cell phone. They were unable to fix...

My partner and I stayed here for one night on the 11 March 2017. It is a beautiful location to just relax and unwind. The house is full of interesting history and tells a story of long ago. We were not impressed with the dinner...we ordered a vegetable curry and a Thai chicken curry. Both currys had far too much...

Three of us had lunch in the dining room, and were quite surprised that it was fairly empty, Two of us ordered steaks. My wife asked for hers to be medium=well done, but it arrived as medium-rare. She sent it back and within minutes her steak arrived correctly done - thank you to the staff for their efficiency. The inn...

Situated in a beautiful setting, I couldn't help but think that this grand old dame is relying a bit too much on past glories to maintain her reputation. No working TV in the rooms, a heater that tripped the lights, everything with a faint musty smell, a truly appalling breakfast with no alternatives on offer, Old Halliwell is in desperate...

Dear 736iank Thank you for bringing to our attention your unsatisfactory stay at Old Halliwell. We have explained to you upon arrival and apologized for the inconvenience that the TV in the room is not working due to being hit twice by lightning and the fact that it was a weekend and will only have it repaired during the coming...

The place is located in a tranquil setting, rooms are spotless and the staff are lovely. Jane and Mike who run the place are lovely people who are more than happy to suggest places of interest to visit and how to get there. Anne and Dolorous who work in the hotel are lovely people and cannot do enough for you....

This guest house is nestled in the KZN midlands. Well maintained old trading post. Beautiful old building with lush green vegetation. The rooms very spacious and nice veranda. Fireplace and plenty wood. The food is very good. Management hands on and professional.

My family and I once again spent the weekend of the 29 - 31 July 2016 at the Old Halliwell Country Inn. We have visited the Old Halliwell Country Inn a couple of times over the years and we always return. We booked again this year as my daughter took part in the KZN Gymnastics Qualifier in Pietermartizburg....we booked the...

We stayed over for a night while down for the Comrades. Old Halliwell is a little piece of paradise run by friendly folk and the place has a beautiful, old farm house feel! The rooms are big with stunning views and a fireplace for the cooler nights. We will definitely be back and this time for a much longer stay!

My husband and I wanted to get away, from Durban, for a winters night in the Midlands, and decided on this country inn. Having stayed at many places in the Midlands, we thought Old Halliwell was very nice. We were looked after by Dolores, who was very helpful, and gave us great service. Our room was lovely, with a beautiful...
