I stayed at the Waitakere Estate for two nights recently while in Auckland on business. I would ordinarily rate my experience as average (it met my basic needs) except for one thing - Waitakere Estate promotes itself as a "boutique" property but too many elements of my experience weren't consistent with what I would consider to be any reasonable definition... We stayed just one night in transit from Rotorua area to Bay of Islands. We booked what turned out to be their studio apartment with garden view which they called the "art deco" room. It was a hoot. Not quite 1920's but certainly 1960's for anyone interested in retro and vintage, it's recommended. Reminded us of our childhood days. I... More

Excellent accommodation with welcoming hosts. The staff were pleasant and went that extra bit to make our stay memorable. The restaurant meals were delicious and were enhanced by the views over Auckland city. Would definitely recommend a short stay here for Aucklanders or a great place to start exploring the West Coast for international visitors. Lounge area and bar very... More

I've stayed here previously but my last trip was for a conference. The food is great although a bit expensive. The view is amazing with clean rooms although the staff aren't very friendly which was the biggest disappointment

The driveway is a little scary especially on a motorcycle but just keep following your nose and the carpark is right up by the main entrance. We advise that you arrive in daylight. The staff are first rate and very accommodating. We felt looked after plus they take an interest in helping you get the most out of your stay.... More

My wife and I stayed here for the first two nights of our trip to NZ and Australia. It was wonderful to arrive here very early in the morning after a 13-hour flight to Auckland from San Francisco . The hotel is an estate about 45 minutes away from the airport. You can see downtown Auckland in the distance .... More

Thank you for your review and we are pleased you enjoyed our beautiful setting and surroundings along with our breakfast offerings. We regret one of our dinner menu items did not meet your expectations. People booking here should be aware that if you have to cancel booking due to unforseen circumstances they charge you the full room rate. We were booked in for one night only, thank goodness. We had a lovely room with a king size bed. The decor is a little dated but the bed was comfy and the shower great. It was very quiet. It does feel a bit intimidating I have to say. We didn't dine at the restaurant and I did feel a little pressured to make a booking (maybe the chef wanted... More
