It is difficult to evaluate a hotel when it is not exceptional, nor is it awful. This one simply ticks all the boxes and for the price, offers good, but not exceptional value.

On arrival there was plenty of parking and checking in was a doddle. The room was a little tired with a small double bed, drab decor and old furniture. That said, the bathroom and shower was exceptional, roomy, fresh and spotless.

One thing that did bother me was the room was very stuffy and, whilst there was a fan, this didn't do much to improve things. Nowadays, most hotels, even budget hotels, have some form of air conditioning and that would have made a huge difference.

Breakfast was a little confusing though. Even though I had prepaid, there was no-one available to advise that I had to do and it wasn't obvious. What confused things was there was prices on the coffee and drinks and I wasn't sure whether my all inclusive stay allowed me to have a second cup of coffee! I couldn't find any orange juice either and, I suspect if I had, there would have been a price on that as well. All very confusing and it could have been so much easier if a member of staff was available to offer advice on entry.

That said, the buffet style breakfast was excellent and plentiful. I was asked before I left if everything was okay, unfortunately I was in a rush so was unable to share my constructive thoughts. After all, breakfast was brilliant apart from the confusing signals as they try to cater for casual visitors as well as those that have pre-paid for breakfast.

Would I return? Yes, but only in the colder months because I need to be cool to sleep.

Mitchel Hall is located on the Cranfield University site, which is not far off the M1 route. Unlike most hotels, this has a very university feel to the accommodation. The rooms are very good and there are both food and a bar available.

There is plenty of parking at Mitchell Hall and the venue appears to cater for both functions and those travelling the North South and East West routes.

With pleasant rooms, nice staff and very reasonably priced it is a very pleasant place to stay.

Once on the campus use google maps to find Mitchel Hall, rather than rely on signage.

The room was ok, apart from a very small double bed(or a large single)! Lovely view of large pipes from the window! Bathroom was ok. Location isn't too bad. Obviously room for improvement. I get the feel that the rooms are mainly aimed at people attending conferences so that are rather limited.

We checked in here for 1 night using Booking.com ...it cost us £55 a night for 2 people ( no breakfast as we'd read previous reviews which weren't very complimentary) we'd added to booking for an accessible room as husband disabled.
We arrived at Hotel about 6pm. Plenty of parking and disabled spaces. Hotel building accessible to wheelchair users and disabled toilet in reception. No lifts.
When we checked in room was on 1st floor receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful and found us a room on the ground floor (room 43).
The room was furthest away from reception which wouldn't be a problem for an able-bodied person but navigating suitcases and additional items needed for a person with disabilities (on a mobility scooter) through several doors was a bit awkward, but we were grateful for the ground floor room.
The room was small maybe better suited for 1 person, but adequate for 1 night. Plenty of storage, TV, tea/coffee provided, no fridge, no AC but fan provided, windows open slightly, extra pillows/blanket, hairdryer, body/hair wash, bar of soap, towels provided.
The bed was small (double) but a huge desk in the room which if was replaced by something smaller a larger queen/king sized bed could be fitted in.
En-suite Shower with shower curtain, plenty of hot water, fixed head shower, adequate for me but totally inadequate for my husband who couldn't shower, no grab rails or shower seat.
This hotel is lovely and the size of the rooms is reflected in the price. The whole hotel is absolutely spotless from reception to rooms (bed linen and towels good quality) carpets all look new, paintwork all fresh its a credit to the housekeepers.
There is a large well stocked bar, with pool table, and also a cafe/restaurant which in my opinion was more aimed at catering for a student population, with a limited daily menu, (we didnt use it) again very clean.
The staff we met on reception were extremely friendly, helpful and informative.
Hotel is on a university campus dont follow sat nav postcode just follow the road straight round. Mitchell Hall on the left, not very well sign posted.
Its in beautiful grounds and a 2 minute drive to the co-op and petrol station.

We would return (but the hotel should offer accessible rooms, the room we had wasnt suitable for a wheelchair user ( we had to leave it outside the room door in the corridor) and there should be disabled bathroom facilities)

A group of ladies (of a "certain age") booked a 3 day 2 night stay with dedicated room for our quilting. Ignore the quilting, we have just had the greatest experience in customer service and food - and there just may be a few picky individuals in our group myself included!! The bedrooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. A few very minor hiccups in some rooms 're absolutely minor issues ( I spent 30 years travelling in so called 3 and 4* hotels so speak from experience), What stood out here was a) clear and genuine want to help by Cranfield Team b) the best customer service approach as individuals not just the overall management customer service approach c) event management easy to do business with and efficient d) food - on diets now!. Will be rebooking this week!!!

Went with friends for a long weekend. They look after us very well, we are regulars here and they always put on a good spread at mealtimes and most importantly can cook a perfect poached egg (a rarity…)!

Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are great, very attentive to our needs, especially as some of our number have disabilities and need particular rooms etc.

The venue is on a university campus and there are students around all days of the week, but that means that they cater for all manner of tastes and dietary requirements. I stop in many hotels for work and I have not come across one yet that does this better.

The rooms are clean, perhaps a little basic but with everything you need for a good nights sleep, and the bathrooms are modern and spotlessly clean.

Plus they put up with us being up until the early hours - we an are best friends with the security guy who always seems pleased to see us!

Already booked for three weekends next year again….

I really don’t know where to start with this amazing venue. We hosted our wedding on 20th August and from start to finish the fabulous staff could not do enough. Fran, our wedding planner, catered to our every need and went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect day. So many personal and generous touches on the day! Thank you so much Fran for ensuring everything went smoothly as you couldn’t be there. Sandra stepped in on the day and became my guardian Angel with a cloth and some soap when my dress got dirty from the journey back to Mitchell Hall, nothing was too much trouble. All of the staff were polite, friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, the function rooms were set up perfectly and the rooms were really comfortable and clean.

I really don’t have the words to express my gratitude to all of the staff that ensured my husband and I 😊 had the perfect day.

I will be recommending you to everyone I know and we will be back for a visit for our 1st wedding anniversary next year. Thank you again.

Good breakfast. Helpful staff. Dreadful sleep due to noise from outside with coming and going of students and also noise of TV til late every night. Moved rooms once but the noise was the same in another room but compounded by faulty plumbing.

My daughter had her wedding at Mitchell Hall.and 5 stars is not enough. Rooms spotless, beds comfortable, powerful shower. Breakfast-best value for money ever. Buffet breakfast with a large selection, tea and coffee plentiful, good range of pastries, fruit, cereal and juices. Staff friendly and helpful. Now for the big day- nothing was too much trouble, our champagne was bought up to the bridal suite chilled in ice to start the day off. Sandra who was covering for the wedding planner that day was beyond amazing. Wedding breakfast room was set out beautifully, food was lovely. Evening reception was well planned and buffet just kept coming. Our guests were all blown away with it all. Every single member of staff that I met over the weekend was an absolute credit to the hospitality industry. I don’t think I have ever stayed anywhere and received that level of service from the whole staff. So from the mother of the bride - Thank you all, I would recommend this venue to anyone considering holding their wedding here.

Good accomodation for the price. Clean, comfy, staff friendly. Restaurant is more of a student canteen (this is a uni campus) but better food than student canteens had in my day and reasonably priced. Fairly handy for Bletchley Park.
