We stayed with Alain and Ann for three nights around ANZAC Day, 2015. We loved the location, the room and the hospitality. Great breakfast and very helpful hosts. We stayed in the Frosted Fire room. Don't be fooled by the very plain exterior of the building. Our room was very modern. We can thoroughly recommend the Protea.

We arrived and was given a very warm welcome by Alan & Ann. Alan showed us to our room which was very spacious (the picture above). The room was very clean and welcoming. Shower was superb, plenty of space and great rainfall shower head. There was some very nice touches, not only was there a small bath gift set of...

I had only one day passing through Belgium on my way from France to the Netherlands, and wanted to spend it visiting World War I sites. Through some internet exploration I found The Protea, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Alain and Anna were very accommodating although I arrived late on a Sunday evening. The other three...

Don't be put off by the external appearance of the Protea: inside, the rooms are modern and well appointed. Alain and Ann are excellent hosts - nothing was too much trouble and they are able to offer a wealth of local knowledge, advice and support about the local area and its' history. This is the perfect choice if you are...

We were greeted by the larger than life Alain as we arrived. I arrived on a motorbike and he allowed me to push it into the back area of the hotel so it would be safe. Alain was very helpful and interesting to talk to about WWI. We also took one of his battlefield tours which was interesting because he...

This was our first time to Ypres and we received a very warm welcome from Alain and Anna. Our room was huge, clean, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was beautifully presented and there was no limit to the amount of food on offer. Initially, it wasn't easy to find the B+B, but we rang Alain and he pointed...

This is my first time in Ypres, Belgium staying at The Protea B&B. My husband and friends has been several times before. I would like to say that the Hosts, Alain & Annie are so freindly and pleasant. Nothing is too much for them. They go out of their way to do whatever they can for you. Lovely rooms; showers;...

What a delightful stay! We stayed in the large back bedroom and it was great! An ultra modern shower and a bright and cheery room. There is a sliding door into the lovely garden-a perfect place to enjoy a coffee or beer. The B&B is close to Ypers with plenty of parking. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts provided...
