Simple menu, good portion (really nice homemade pie). Honest countryside pub, friendly staff and a decent pint of Black Sheep. Only a few miles away from Hawes and Wensleydale Creamery. Nice big coal fire which is very welcome in the winter.

We stayed here just one night (Oct 2016) in a large room with antique furniture and a very comfortable bed. Clean sheets and towels. Room rate was very good. Food was also good (cooked to order), with an extensive menu. Also reasonably priced. Others have commented about the carpets. Yes, they could do with some TLC but you have to...

Visited for lunch last week during half term. Lovely little pub in the Yorkshire Dales. Delicious food with good choice, and all homemade. Priced competitively (not cheap but not too expensive). We were seated in the snug which was lovely. The kids played on the zip wire in the park over the road and said hello to the horse in...

I stayed at the hotel purely because it was in a convenient location. Booking was a strange experience. I called in the afternoon, but they asked me to call back in the morning after 12 midday (?). When we arrived the staff were friendly but there was always a feeling that whatever we asked for that we were inconveniencing them....

Well worn Establishment. Only visited the bar for a drink and a meal. The staff at 6pm refuse rudely to serve drinks for nearly 20 mins as the boss was on the bar girls case to check the till. Meals ordered for six were then 35 mins late. The turnip was raw the carrots were under cooked and the steak...

In desperate need of refurbishment, the carpets were sticky, the toilet pan was cracked, there was no hot water and the shower was a joke, the macerator wc made an awful noise which echoed around the hotel. We were crammed into the corner of the pub lounge for our evening meal with two other couples so tight that we kept...

my partner and I ate here end of September and I can't recommend it enough if what you are after are tasty meals and huge portions. I opted for homemade steak and ale pie with mash and veg and it was absolutely delicious needless to say I couldn't move afterwards because of the amount you get. My partner chose half...

Staff friendly, impressed with the chef and his food and he wasn't joking when he said you wouldn't need dessert! The beef was the best I've tasted in a long time...the lasagne was perfect. Definitely worth a second visit with the possibility of trying the desserts first!

Staying here for a week and already looking forward to coming again. The room is spacious and comfortable, the staff are really friendly and the food is fantastic, you need a big appetite though. It is set in beautiful country side and the view from our window is just what the doctor ordered.
