This was our 3rd time of staying here and I think we will be back again. Alastair and Andrea are great hosts and provide a fantastic service, with thoughtful extras such as fresh flowers in your room and a chocolate on the bed each day. Alton Albany is in a beautiful valley and has its own wildflower meadow to wander in. A great, peaceful place to unwind but also within easy reach of a main road to explore further afield. Also the added benefit of 3 gorgeous dogs.🐕🐕🐕. Comfy bed, lovely breakfast, peaceful surroundings, what more could you want. Thanks Alastair, Andrea, Daisy, Clover and Tansy.
We had a fantastic 3 days at Alton Albany Farm B&B. A lovely house set in beautiful gardens and a bonus wild-flower meadow to wander in and unwind. Everything from the room, to breakfast and Alasdair's warm hospitaiity was just right. We'd love to go back someday. Thank you Alasdair and Andrea, M&S
Wish we had had more time to spend in this wonderful friendly place. The house and setting and really beautiful and with all the stylish and thoughtful touches one could wish for, along with delicious breakfast and welcoming hosts, it was really hard to leave. Highly recommended... the forests and RSPB reserves in the local area look well worth exploring too... we will return!
Can't really over-rate this lovely B&B, a really lovely place. Kind and welcoming hosts. Spotlessly clean. Good food served in a so comfy room with open fire. So dog friendly. Would definitely return if able.
We went to Barr in search of my paternal grandmother's family's roots and booked a night at Alton Albany Farm B&B to make the journey from Glasgow more relaxed (rather than try to return to our little rented apartment in Glasgow in the same day)....we were on vacation of course! And Alasdair and Andrea our hosts, delivered the best 'mini vacation' during our vacation in Scotland that we could have imagined. Yes, Barr is out of the way, off the beaten path and somewhere that when you tell those who live in the area you plan to visit the response uniformly is "no one goes to Barr" there isn't anything there! They are wrong, very wrong and you will be as well if you miss an opportunity to stay at Alton Albany Farm B&B. This is a hidden gem in South Ayrshire that is the reason to seek out Barr! It is just beautiful! The rooms are elegant, spacious and comfortable. The food is superb! Tea and scones were ready when we arrived and settled into our rooms. After tea, we spent some time relaxing over some card games in the 'parlor' and watched the rains outside. We had opted to dine in for dinner, asking actually for breakfast for dinner if possible. Alasdair provided lovely quiches and then a blueberry sponge that was divine! After dinner, we took advantage of the DVD's and learned all about Ailsa Craig, the island in Girvan Harbour. We slept in, the quiet and peacefulness of Barr encourages sleeping in! Breakfast was another gourmet feast - I have never experienced shirred eggs before, because it requires much too much effort -- not for Alasdair! He is a culinary whiz! At check-out he kindly dropped us in the center of the village (after making arrangements for a car to pick us up later in the afternoon to make the train back to Glasgow). Cannot say enough positive things about the whole experience! Venture to Barr and stay at Alton Albany Farm B&B - you will see a part of Scotland that is hidden away and have a truly lovely vacation as well!…
