I came alone to the Artsurfcamp and spent one week there. It was an amazing time! The Surfcamp is really beautiful and it’s looking like a typical beach house. Besides the staff was very friendly and taught me very well how to surf. Also I met nice people (most of them are from Spain but this is no problem because everyone is very open :)) and the food was always a lot and very good. For all the reasons I can recommend the camp to everyone who wants to learn surf and to have fun.

After having ended our experience at Artsurfcamp we would love to reach as many people as possible and share with them our complete waste of money and time at this place. First of all, we travelled as a couple. The last summer we already spent it in a surfcamp in Somo, Cantabria. Therefore, we already had some experience inside the camp world. The check-in itself was not very warm-hearted and only few information about the camp was given (WIFI Access, lockers, etc. was not mentioned at all). The room itself was furnished appropriately for a camp. Yet, we couldn’t lock the bathroom door and also the entrance door to the room wasn’t closing properly. This being said, the bathroom door was repaired the next day, but in exchange, the whole electricity went off twice within two days. We then proceeded to the welcoming presentation in the common room. The presentation was informative and the language was held only in Spanish. For international guests not knowing Spanish would certainly be an issue for them, as the things they say are very important for your stay. When already mentioning the common room, it has to be said that it looked chaotic and there was not much to find. More specifically, there was a couch which looked like it had been picked up from a dumpster (see the picture attached), some wooden benches and, no decoration whatsoever. Nevertheless, you could at least find two tables for table tennis. In the first night, we discovered that the rooms were only separated by a paper wall (at least that’s what it felt like as we could hear the people from the next room like if they would be in our own room). If you are someone that enjoys sleeping I highly recommend you not to come to this place, as they throw parties nearly every night which are held till nearly 3am in the morning. Plus the after party which most of the people use to do, in which they often get wasted and have little or any respect whatsoever towards the people that want to get some sleep. Not only this was a form a disrespect, but also an activity that this camp has, ‘the fake night’ (a night organized by the staff for underaged teenagers and kids) took place in the common room which is located basically underneath the dormitories. This, in the simplest terms, consists of very annoying music being played at a super loud volume during night time. Even us being on the second floor could not avoid (not even putting earplugs) this very disturbing noise from bothering us. After our first night in which we had very poor sleep, we went to the dinning room to get our breakfast. The dinning room has very little decoration and you cannot choose where to seat as the kitchen staff assigns the tables. This reminded us very much of kinder-garden. Furthermore, we found out that the variety they offered was not only poor in quantity but also in quality. You can get hard loafs of white bread, two types of jam, the most basic cornflakes, some yogurt, cheap biscuits, and that was pretty much all, apart from milk, coffee and artificial flavored orange juice. After this, we got ourselves ready to take our first surfing lesson. Briefly, our surfing experience can be summed up with our instructor being careless, reluctant to the class and extremely passive. He would basically arrive with us to the beach, explain a few things which weren’t precisely important, make us go to the water while he would stand outside chilling and basically ignoring most of us. (He barely would correct people’s mistakes). Over the whole week we experienced several negative aspects: The wifi didn’t work at all. The food was most of the time served later than scheduled, not to mention the chaotic organization it had in order to get the food. If you don’t have access to a car you are literally trapped in a ghost town which is Razo. (Despite the beautiful beach, the village itself just has few small bars, a tiny supermarket and no existing public transport) Inattentive staff, sometimes reaching to the point of being rude. Most of them don’t speak another language than Spanish. Very little freedom for adults. (They even got mad at us for not wearing a helmet for surfing when the instructor itself said it wasn’t compulsory for adults to wear it). No freedom at all to get a board and surf by yourself, even when you are paying for material to do so. After having four nights in a row of no sleep we decided to leave the camp one day prior to the scheduled departure. We could not bare it anymore. We had programmed with the camp a free transfer to A coruña train station so we asked them nicely if they would not mind to change it to the day before. They then wanted to charge us 40 Euros each for ‘the inconvenience’. To finalize this nasty experience my girlfriend got touched in a disturbing way by a staff member whom we didn’t had any relation with at all during our whole stay and, what is worse, she got a random and forced kiss on the cheek from him in a very harassing way. We were completely disgusted about this behavior. His name is Anton, so if you decide to go for whatever reason, I recommend you not to get too close to this guy. Despite all this negative feedback we would also like to highlight the good things we encountered: * Close to beach * Good bar with great views * Regular room cleaning In conclusion, we definitely do NOT recommend this camp for the aforementioned reasons. We sincerely hope that our review will help you and we also hope it helps the Artsurfcamp to improve and create a better experience for the future guests

Response from Pablo R, Propietario at Artsurfcamp
Responded 13 Feb 2019
Good morning Reto, We are writing to you in response to your comment and with the intention of reverting your impressions about Artsurfcamp. Undoubtedly, it is the bitterest comment we have received so far. If you take a look at our surf camp scores on Google, Tripadvisor or Facebook you will see that they rather indicate the opposite ... We would like to go back a bit and take a closer look at the facts of your reservation to be able to clarify some points. As you know, when you arrived at the camp, your partner was not fully recovered from an ankle injury suffered months before. This is what her mother had told us when she had made the advanced payment of your reservation. During a surfing session, your partner hurt her injured leg and we put the necessary means to move you to a medical center, we accompanied you during the entire process from the doctor´s consultation to the time we brought you back to the fantastic Razo beach. The diagnosis was a relapse in a badly healed injury and the following day, you decided that you wanted to go home. In these cases, as you can understand, we cannot give you a refund of the amount that you were asking for. At the time, we met with you to evaluate your request to departure sooner than expected, at no time, did you tell us about your dissatisfaction with the hired product, which is strange if the degree of dissatisfaction in a client is as high as the one you have detailed in your description. This, makes us think that the non-refund of the amounts asked for has led you to make such a negative criticism. But of course, these are just assumptions. Anyway, we respect your opinion as each client has the right to make their own evaluation and judgment on a hired product, although we insist that we find it strange again because your opinion is far different from the rest of comments made by customers about Artsurfcamp. Finally, we want to let you know that we deeply regret that you have had an unpleasant experience in our facilities and although we do not agree with all your comments, we would like to offer you the opportunity to enjoy the Artsurfcamp experience again. Our aim is to simply, as we indicated at the beginning, revert your impressions and that you can get a very good impression of our surf camp at Razo beach. Yours sincerely,

Long time since i had decided that i would sometime in my life learn how to surf and as a practical man i googled surf camps in Spain, found a place and went there. Artsurfcamp has great employees and most speak good English, food is healthy and nourishing, the accommodation is adequate and the surfing lessons are great. They have a wide range of activities between surfing lessons and it allows you to be as active as you prefer. The best of all where the Spanish people who even not understanding you where always helpful and supportive to a confused tourist from Iceland.

I spent a week at ArtSurf Camp and it was so much fun! The location couldn't be better - all you have to do is walk across the street and you're on the beach. The bar has a beautiful view of the ocean and all of the staff and people there are super friendly and helpful. It was such an amazing experience - definitely recommend going there! It was great for both children and adults too.

ArtSurfCamp is located at one of the nicest beaches in Galicia ( Spain ) . The ArtSurfCrew is very nice and friendly and they will try to do everything to make you happy. The rooms are nice and clean and there is a good Skate Miniramp in the back of the hotel. They also offer YOGA courses and other activities. If you are lucky you might surf with dolphins. Enjoy....

Spend almost a week at the surfcamp, together with my family (2 grown-ups, and 2 teen-agers) - we loved every second if it! The atmosphere is very friendly and laid back, and the location, just in front of the sea, is perfect - it's gorgeous to sit in the Artbar and look at the sea! We had done some surfing before, and the surfclasses were really good for us - we all evolved as surfers! The teachers are really helpful and gives good advices. My only concern was the groups of children that could get a bit noisy at times.... But that was really a minor problem!

I stayed two weeks in that place and what an amazing journey ! The location is just great as you are only a few meters from the sea and the landscape around is very nice. You can learn how to surf, chill out on the bar terrace, do party and so much more. Just go there and see all that by your own !!
