As first time visitors to Alicante the only guarantee we had was a good experience at the Melia Hotel. Melia have a concept that has worked for us throughout Europe, the Far East and the Caribbean.
The Hotel location is perfect for the Town & Marina. The Esplanade stretches out before you directly opposite the Marina in one direction and the Beautiful Beach in the other.

20min (€21) Taxi to the Airport.

The Hotel (Level) reception and Rooms are on the first Floor together with a dedicated Lounge serving Breakfast and thereafter Wine/Beer/soft drinks & tapas snacks all day. The ‘Open Bar’ serving complimentary Spirits 1800-1900.
The dedicated Sun Terrace overlooking the Marina is Fabulous.

The newly Refurbished Junior Suite, Balcony looking directly out sea, was typical Melia with a Fantastic Bed, subtly decorated and excellent quality Toiletries (Ritual by Dao) & 2 Bathrooms.

Room Service: Food arrived within 25min freshly made to order, well presented and very tasty. Great value.
Room Attendants, we found the timings to be impressive in that we returned from Breakfast to a clean Room most mornings. Thank you Vicen and colleagues.

We were privileged to be shown the ‘new’ extended Level Lounge, Gym & bar looking directly out to the Beach. Truly 5* level Facilities. This opening is imminent. We are already looking to return ASAP.

The Ritual Spa experience was excellent and incredible value, 80min Oasis Ritual including a Stone, Indian Head & Thai Foot massages were Fantastic and incredible Value at €95. Thank you Paula.

A big thank you to Angel and his highly motivated Team who ‘made a difference’,
Christina, Laura, Sylvia, Lucia, Mayte and of course, Patricia.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the location on the beach and close to the castle and old town is ideal. The junior suite we booked was ready when we arrived early in the day and they were able to accommodate our request for late check out (at a charge).
The room was spacious and clean with 2 bathrooms and 2 TVs so very convenient.
The breakfast spread was fabulous!
The only negative was the lack of a working AC which made the room rather hot at night, though we managed to cool it by opening the balcony door.

We have stayed in Melia hotels on numerous occasions but our first visit to Alicante. The hotel is ideally located overlooking the beach on one side and the Marina on the other, with a short walk to the Old town.
We booked a grand premium sea view room which was a large well appointed room with a large bathroom and small balcony facing directly over the beach and the sea beyond. At this time of the year the balcony didn't get the sun during the day.
Our booking was on a B&B basis as we like to visit local restaurants but we did have dinner on two evenings, once in the formal Terra restaurant and the other in the Bribone bar /restaurant. Enjoyed the meals in both restaurants although menu a bit restricted.
Breakfasts were the usual Melia great selection of hot, cold and bakery buffets with eggs cooked to order. Cava also available each morning.
This is a very large hotel with 5 floors of bedrooms and the hotel is a long building rather than a high building. So the bedroom corridors mean quite a long walk from the main lifts if you are near end of building.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful even remembering our drink order each night in the Bribone bar.
If we return to Alicante would certainly stay in this hotel again.

We had a harbour view room 2086 very spacious as we had a toddler so perfect for us. Breakfast was amazing, everything you could think of to eat!
Rooms were cleaned but wouldn’t say to high standard as sometimes we’d come back and have dirt and fluff on our feet after 10 mins. We had a leak in one of our bathroom ceilings and have to say they sorted that very quickly the next day of reporting it, all painted like it was never there! Downside was they didn’t clean up after themselves as left all dust all over toilet, floor, bin and toilet roll holder. Little things like not enough milk left and no teaspoons some days which was a pain too. As we have a toddler he went to bed quite early and therefore there was a lot of noise outside our room till gone midnight and that wasn’t even on New Year’s Eve!! Do people not think people will be in bed at this time?? Letting kids run up and down the corridor shouting!! Not the hotels fault just the adults with no respect to any other guests! Overall a lovely stay and would recommend :)

2 night stay at Melia Hotel Alicante
We regularly travel to Alicante on our way to our holiday home in Almeria and thought that on this occasion we would break up the joirney with a few days in Alicante. We had a 2 night stay at Melia Hotel Alicante from 28th to 30th January which was a Christmas present from our sons. We were booked on to The Level which had been recommended to us as it is for adults only and as we had had a very stressful time in the past few months, we were very much looking forward to the peace and relaxation. However, when we arrived at the hotel we were told that The Level was actually closed because there was work being carried out. We were told we were still in a room on The Level and had in fact been upgraded to a better room but all the other amenities were closed, ie the drinks and snacks that are available all day and the breakfast room which is separate from the main hotel and therefore a lot quieter. We were told that we could still get the snacks and drinks from the bar in the hotel foyer and were given a wrist band to wear so the bar staff would know. Some of the staff didn’t seem to be very aware as to what we were entitled too but mainly the staff were very good. Although we had been upgraded to a better room, the experience was completely spoiled by workmen who started work at 8am and were using drills and jackhammers!! This work went on until early evening so we had to stay out of the room for most of the day and we’re not able to use the leisure facilities/private lounge. We looked on the hotel website whilst we were there and other sites selling rooms at the hotel and they were and still are selling rooms on The Level with no mention of it being closed. We did receive an email a week or so before saying that work was being carried out to refurbish the hotel but it was more than that, parts were practically being demolished!!!! There was also no mention that The Level was completely closed. We were extremely disappointed as it had come highly recommend to us!! We have given the hotel an average rating as we did not have the experience we had expected and paid for!

We live in Spain and have used the Melia in Alicante a number of times in the past. This visit was for our wedding anniversary, "nice hotel, nice restaurant". When we arrived at the hotel we found it had changed totally since our last visit. The reception area is devoid of any furniture or decoration, a soulless, cold unwelcoming void. Trying to check in was "interesting", receptionist had a mask, I had a mask and then there was a plastic screen between us making it almost impossible to understand each other due to back ground noise. Now, explain this, after each customer had been to the reception, the receptionist disinfected t he check in point and wiped it down before dealing with the next customer, however opposite was a bar with tables and stools, no disinfection when people moved and was replaced by others, just stupid. It took 15 minutes to check in, hence my wife had to wait, she had to "perch" on the bar stools, because there is no comfortable furniture to use. Note nobody was wearing a mask at the bar, yet as we were walking by the bar the concierge "instructed" my wife to put on her mask, note instructed! More disappointment when we got to the room, all t hose friendly gestures were missing. No extra pillows, no instruction pack, no give away´s in the bathroom. As if there is not enough plastic in the world, this time the Melia has excelled itself, spare duvet encased in a plastic bag, horrible plastic cups in plastic bags, even the spare toilet roll was in a plastic bag. Outside the entrance, the hotel used to have some nice "garden furniture", that has been changed to horrible furniture that could not be more uncomfortable. Leaving the following morning, we had the final insult thrust upon us 19.00 € to park the car overnight in the car park under the hotel, ridiculous, will we be staying at the Melia again ?, highly unlikely. Would I recommend the Melia, absolutely not.

Dear Echoecho100, Thank you for share with all the travellers your experience. We are sorry to know that you did not like the measures that we have taken to satisfy our guests well-being, reducing some decoration items that could facilitate the germs' transmission, an aspect that nowadays we are focused on preventing, more than ever. That same case happens in our rooms, where, following the instructions of Bureau Veritas Audit, we keep the amenities on request, for all the guests that could need them. Regarding the hotel entrance furniture, we decided to change them for new ones, trying to offer to our guests a better area with completely new items that they could enjoy. We regret those ones disliked you more than the previous. On the other hand, we would like to inform you that our hotel has not got parking and the prices are managed by their own enterprise. Echoecho100, we really hope to have a new chance to welcome you back, we are sure that we could do our best to provide you a new lovely stay. Yours faithfully,

We’ve just returned from a week in this amazing hotel. The location is perfect next to the beach and 5 minutes walk into the beautiful old town of Alicante with it’s amazing back streets full of tapas bars and shops.
The staff here are lovely. So helpful and friendly with nothing being too much trouble for them.
We chose a room facing the marina with a beautiful view of the marina and town, giving us sun on our balcony all afternoon and evening.
The room was immaculate with a huge bed. “Ritual” toiletries were provided and we had both a bath and shower in the bathroom. There was a minibar which was restocked daily at very reasonable prices.
We booked “the level” which offered us exclusive use of the reception, lounge and gym/sauna. There was also an infinity pool and patio area for sun bathing but this only had the sun on a morning.
The lounge offered complimentary drinks all day. These included bottled water and soft drinks, a variety of tea and coffee, red, white, rose and cava wines and bottled lager. Spirits were available between 6-7 on an evening. Fruit, snacks, cakes and tapas were also available at different times throughout the day. I’d highly recommend booking this.
The bar in reception was great with very helpful and friendly staff and the drink prices were similar to the bars in town.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment although the food looked and smelled amazing.
We cannot wait to return and thanks again to the amazing staff for making our holiday so lovely.

Staff seems tired and dont have time to say hello, be smiling, etc.
Sunbeds are reservated for hours, but no one comes to lay there.
The sunbeds get 2 strint of desinfection after been used, but NOT on the sides, where you touch by hands.
Salad for 14 Euro is small, and most of it, is just salad.
Fair about the Covid 19 situation, it is difficult for everyone, and overall it feels safe there.

After writing a review already for this hotel I have later found out that they have charged our debit card 10 euros for no apparent reason!. My husband has emailed them several times and also the travel rep but has had no response. When we checked out of this hotel they said we had used the mini bar. We did not use ANYTHING from the mini bar and have NEVER used the mini bar in any hotel room because they are absolutely extortionate prices. These fridges should have a door code on them, that only the reception staff and the customer has access to. If something is used from the fridge then the customer would be the only ones with access and not the cleaners.

Having deciding to treat ourselves to a night away in Alicante on New Years Eve we picked this hotel for its offer of a high end experience in the luxury of "The Level". We were promised inclusive bar snacks and drinks, what they didn't tell us was bar snacks were served till 7.00pm (we didn't arrive till 6pm, due to work commitments) and spirits were between 6pm to 7pm then wine, beer, carva and soft drinks till 10.30. Being as it was NYE we at least expected a glass of bubbly in our hands at midnight. This was not the case as we were told we had to leave at 10.30pm! We went into Alicante and were shown a nice time from fellow revellers in the town square and shared our own (brought from home) Cava and grapes with the crowds around us. The room was very nice, clean and spacious and the bed turn down service was a nice touch with chocolate and wine in our room on our return. Breakfast was included and was extremely good with a wide selection of breakfast foods and the view was sensational looking over the beach watching swimmers brave the sea. However, don't leave it to late to go to the breakfast lounge as by 9.30am fellow dinners were queing out the door for vacant tables.
We did speak and email the hotel about our issues, they could only offer their sincere apologies. Not very helpful when we'd looked forward to an inclusive night of total luxury!

Hi My understanding during our stay was that all drinks had to be consumed within the lounge area itself on the The Level. They were not to be taken out of The Level Lounge area.
