Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We chose to stay because of previous Tripadvisor reviews and were very glad we did. The place is at the end of a road which gets gradually higher and narrower as you approach. The rooms were small but clean and up-to-date with nice bathrooms. We ate in the restaurant (nowhere else nearby!) and the portions were enormous and really tasty. After a very peaceful night we had a good breakfast in the bar. Incredible value for money in an extraordinary place.

On arrival to the hotel set in an outstanding area of beauty with breathtaking views, we were warmly welcomed and taken inside to the hotel. The decor is amazing, very rustic and with an enormous clothes box (ottoman) as the bar. We sat down for a beer and were given a plate of chorizo, jamón and morcilla croquetas which were phenomenal and didn't take long to disappear. To accompany the bread we were offered a plate of thinly sliced torcino and the fat just melted in my mouth. Stunning. Lunch was a huge pot of pote (torcino, morcilla, longaniza, cabezada, potato and berza) a dish I haven't had for over two years and one I was really looking forward to. Seriously, pote is a must when in Asturias, I can't decide which I love more; pote or fabada! After a generous helping of pote, we were presented with a plate of escalopines (escalopes - beef) covered in a blue cheese sauce with chips.

The Hotel is family run and the only amenity in the village. It has a bar/family room and excellent dining room. I chose to eat with the family and locals in the bar. The food was excellent, home cooked and plentiful; the wine complimentary and the beer reasonably priced. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Genestoso is very small so don’t expect entertainment! It’s an excellent centre for walking or cycling but bear in mind it is in the mountains so it’s steep! Talking of bears, they can be seen in late spring near to the village; wolves are also native to the area along with much other wildlife.
