Don't get me wrong, this ryokan is a beauty. The staff tries really hard to please. Our family stayed for one night on the way back to Chitose airport. We made good use of the in-room onsen and had multiple soaks on our departure day. This hotel is a little busier than other ryokan I have been to. Its dining...

this is a nicely design hotel which you can access via obhiro and take a taxi ( or bus) there. Since it is a very secluded hotel, there are not a lot of rooms and that means no kids or big families. virtually you will not see anyone using the same onsen service with you too. There are lots of...

I can only use the word perfect to describe my experience at Sanyoan. We wanted a super relaxing stay and we got one. We didn't need to worry about anything during the stay. Everything was taken care of from parking our car to providing nail polish bottles. We stayed at traditional Japanese room, with multiple windows of great views. The...

This ryokan is part of the Daiichi complex, so it's connected to the larger Daiichi hotel. But don't fret, Sanyoan customers could go and use their facilities, but not vice versa. The Daiichi Hotel seemed nice enough, but Sanyoan was excellent. There are only maybe 12 rooms, and they are tastefully designed. The windows maximized the views of the surroundings...

We stayed in this hotel in May 11-12,2015. There are about only 11 rooms named in different type of room for example, room no.357 which we stayed named Haru no Umi. They are decorated in many styled. Room is clean and service is very good.

This is the best ryokan I have ever been so far! We were greeted at the front door when we drive in and the check-in process was flawless. There are only 10 rooms in this ryokan, all have private onsen and some are outdoor. I enjoyed the public bath as if it is private since most guests would use their...

Food: It was AMAZING! Ingredients were simple, but cooked to perfect. Breakfast was HUGE. Room: size is decent, toilet & bathroom are pretty big. Friends stayed in smoking room with a private terrace. Onsen: Loved the onsen, especially the one with floral small in a glass room. Enhanced the relaxation to the max! Service: staff are professional and very friendly....

The lobby with a open area-garden view, together with the fireplace provides a very cozy area for guest to rest. Free drinks at the bar is highly appreciated too. The dinner is so much better than expected, especially we like the way the Chef steamed the beef. And, the tourist center is just next to the hotel, which is pretty...

I think it is the best onsen ryokan I've stayed so far in Hokkaido. The staffs provided the best service to us. We got great satisfaction from the delicious dinner and breakfast. We must stay here again.

"Isn't this place amazing?", a Japanese man asked me. Was it? The surrounding town is unremarkable, there aren't any spectacular views from the rooms, and the area is completely flat. But I knew exactly what he meant. The food is absolutely amazing. It's yet another Japanese undiscovered Michelin star restaurant. Presentation is artful, and the taste, freshness, and preparation are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
☆Sanyoan The name Sanyoan comes from the great educator Sanyo Tsuchiya, a mentor of the Tokachi and Obihiro region's pioneering forefather Benzo Yoda. Tsuchiya believed in an old Chinese teaching that says farmers should study by reading between stints of farm work, particularly at three specific times (sanyo in Japanese, lit. "Three extra times"), i.E., In winter, at night and on rainy days. He even changed his first name to Sanyo and advocated the importance of this teaching. These three times can be considered to represent affluence of the mind. Sanyoan offers the same quality time and space that these periods would provide. ☆Hot Spring Botanical moor hot springs are found only in two places in the world. This type of spring contains more organic botanical nutrients than mineral components, it is referred to as a botanical hot spring. It contains sodium chloride and bicarbonate making it a weak alkaline, hypotonic, high-temperature spring. Such springs are known as spas for beauty because of the skin smoothening and moisturizing effects provided by their rich natural moisturizer content. ☆A free shuttle service is available between Sanyoan and JR Obihiro Station/Tokachi-Obihiro Airport. Please feel free to ask for more information. * Note that shuttle services do not run regularly; reservations should be made by the day before arrival/departure. ... more   less
