Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This pub has unfortunately been closed for several years now maybe it would be advisable for Tripadvisor to check properties as I believe this is now a private dwelling and I was constantly bomb barded with emails to ask me to complete a booking which is obviously not possible

This is one of my top ten pubs/ eatery/ bnb ever! They saved us! My boss had been let down with accommodation and he had myself and a colleague to 'house' for the night. We were literally stuck! I tried every premier thing and holiday rent in a 70 mile radius...it seemed that we'd be sleeping in the vans we'd driven down in. However, As if by out of the the magic mist of the Romney marshes arose our saviour The Royal Oak. Even if this place had served a packet of crisps and a very cold cider- it would have been my favourite However, instead of the lofty heights I'd set myself at this point....one of a cold drink and something in a packet, we were treated to sublime customer service- couldn't fault (Toni) and her colleagues, who on one of the busiest services I've seen a pub cope with, didn't fault in their impeccable warmth and genuine helpful attitude. And I haven't even started on the food! This is one gifted and talented chef! I will never forget the breakfast- I'm salivating thinking about it now- beautiful creations that only masters of their craft can make: i.e.: 'haggis potato cake' a perfect 'lollipop' of mash potatoes, bacon and herbs....if I got it wrong I apologise- but I thought the execution and especially the taste was divine! And it's certainly not for the small appetites! Overall, one of the best 'pubs' I've ever stayed in! I can't recommend it highly enough! Can't wait to be back next year! We owe you a 99' or 5 😉 (you know who we are 💜)

This is a typical English Village pub, with a very friendly landlord / bar staff. We experienced a warm and friendly visit, even with a bit of banter from the locals. If you're dining, the home cooked food (3 x course) is superb. Garden area for the children too.

My husband and I had visited before, so we were hoping after praising it to friends they wouldn't be disappointed. We needn't have worried, from the moment we all stepped through the door we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. The food was well cooked and presented with fresh vegetables and good quantities, we weren't rushed so were able to thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Hands down the best Pub Roast I've ever had. Proper fresh crispy potatoes, homemade yorkies, big selection of perfectly cooked veg served in separate platters. Bursting at the seams, trying my best to shake it down to my toes to make room for the great selection of homemade desserts. Staff very helpful and attentive. #Emily.. Absolutely will be coming back here even if it's a 2 hour drive 😀

Having heard good things about the Royal Oak, decided to visit for the first time in about 15 years. Was very impressed with both the quality of the food and the extent of the menu. Wasn't as keen on the bar area as the last time that I visited, but will certainly be back.
