We came across the Royal Oak purely by accident whilst on holiday on the are. In search of a lunchtime snack in the unpretentious bar, we happened to spot the menu in the dining room and decided to give it a go. We were amazed by the quality of the food! I had the fish stew which was rich, packed...

We held our grandson's christening at The Royal Oak yesterday. We had about 75 guests, including children and toddlers. The pub is situated in a lovely village where our daughter also lives. The pub is stunning inside and the garden wonderful on a sunny day, which we lucky enough to get. Chris and the girls were amazing throughout, nothing was...

I think that the people in charge had only fairly recently opened up the renovated rooms to guests, and it didn't feel as though they had quite got things together. There were some fairly basic items missing from an otherwise very attractive and comfortable room - like a table for the tea-making kit, which was on the floor, as were...

Thank you so much for your kind review the rooms themselves have indeed only just been opened and your comments on the shortcomings are absolutely justified , tables and hair dryers are in fact on order and we expected them to have been there by the time of your visit , the pub has been under new ownership for just...

The staff here are so helpful and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We had dinner early Saturday evening and our party consisted of 8 adults and a child. The menu has so many delicious sounding options it was hard to choose. The waitresses were attentive and although there were 8 people in our group and a young child...

Waited a long time for the food but was well worth it. There were 4 of us in our group, all eating different things with the exception of the roast potatoes, which to be truthful were complained about by all of us as they were just too hard, barely being able to cut them! The vegetables were superb and varied...

Only writing this as the staff could not be bothered when there was obviously something wrong with our food. I ordered fish and chips and for £13 This is what arrived on my plate two large pieces of batter with less fish inside than a fish finger. The chips were not homemade and come straight out of Aunt Bessie's freezer...

Firstly thank you for your prompt reveiw albeit a bit slating but I relish negative reviews as otherwise how are we to improve ourselves Normally I would put my hands up if there was any truth or validity to a complaint , our fish arrives daily the cod for the fish and chips is an 8-10 oz tail fillet which...
