Fantastic wedding!! Attended a wedding last weekend and it was such a wonderful experience. Being February I was a little worried and hesitant regarding the weather. However Balbirnie offers fabulous cosy lounge areas with plenty of seating to relax and enjoy a drink with lot's of space whilst the lovely couple enjoyed their photos. Special shout out to the MC who was fantastic for keeping all guests in the loop and very helpful to the bride and groom. The canapes and meal were super tasty and the presentation fantastic! Wide range of drinks at the bar and the team all super helpful. Highly reccomend for a wedding venue in Fife!

We returned for a family wedding, to say the least; incredible! From the moment we walked back into the hotel, the personal welcome and from then on in was perfect. Our room overlooked the lawned areas and was well equipped for what we needed, clean and refreshing. Food and drinks on the wedding day were second to none and a great variety - found a new favourite! Breakfast service was fast and fresh food again provided. We had a great stay and look forward to returning, yet again to Balbirnie House.

Afternoon tea good, but nothing special. Reasonable for price. Shocking parking charge - and no disabled spaces! Friend had to pay to park and struggle to walk to reception. Spaces at front door are recharging points for electric cars. Also, if you have a gift voucher, you are expected to use whoe amount at one sitting. Clearly, they only want to be a wedding venue, not cater for locals in Fife!

Disability discrimination is our experience of this recent visit. Despite booking the Disabled parking bay, on arrival the access ramp was closed. As my wife has MND she could not climb the front stairs with no handrail, and the usually helpful Reception advise “sorry, but no lift, and no staff available to help”. Risking a likely fall, we managed to climb up the stairs, but were totally trapped in the hotel as (advised by Receptionist) no alternative or lift available. On check out I again asked for assistance to help us exit, and told a goods lift at the rear could be used! I checked out physical access to the rear but met a member of the grounds team who opened the access ramp and allowed us safe exit. My polite complaint to the hotel and senior management to advise that removal of disabled access without any alternative arrangement is discriminatory to the disabled, and we did not receive any positive response, other than “sorry “. A very poor response to a very upsetting incident.

When booking (and then staying) at the hotel (having stayed here yearly) you would expect to be informed that: a) you will be charged £10 a day to park [in an enormous estate], b) the bistro restaurant for non formal dining only serves private parties of >20 meaning you have to dine formally with expense or eat somewhere else. Regarding a) is this something to do with the Green Party vote holding up the SNP or simply corporate greed? The signs put up indicate the proceeds will help with the upkeep of the hotel. Surely the cost of the room helps with this. Regarding b) which idiot thought this was a good idea? As a consequence we will not be returning.

Went for an afternoon tea today as part of a large group. It was disappointing to see the hotel now charges their customers to park their car. This is a hourly rate for those going for a coffee, a meal, wedding and there is overnight rates for staying. Given most people have no choice but to take their car and the fact it is a spacious estate, this is unnecessary and unavoidable. Whatever reasons they will try to use to justify this, it seemed like senseless greed. I know hospitality has its struggles, but this is no way to treat customers. Food overpriced as expected but was fine and whilst service was slow, staff were very thankfully very pleasant.

We were given a Christmas gift of the cosy Balbirnie which we booked for last night. On arrival we were seen quickly. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. They upgraded us which was very much appreciated as we've never had that before. Room was excellent, smelled lovely and was toasty warm. Bed was amazing and so comfortable. We had the cream tea. Lovely warm scones, jam and clotted cream. The meal at night was fresh, well cooked and very tasty. Staff were very attentive but not intrusive. We had a long walk around the estate in the afternoon which is very popular. Nice to see all the snowdrops out. Plenty hot water for a big bath. Toiletries and towels aplenty. My husband had dropped cards from his wallet while we had been out and they had been handed in to reception. Very thankful for that. It's £10 for parking overnight but we didn't mind. My only real gripe was the coffee in the rooms machine is so very strong but that is just personal taste for me. I'd recommend staying here any time. Lots of space, quiet, lots of areas for seating. You can't go wrong

A fantastic overnight at Balbirnie. A work colleague recommended the hotel and we were delighted they did. A perfect overnight commencing with afternoon tea , dinner and breakfast. It was my husbands 60th birthday treat and everything about our stay was 1st class. Food , friendliness and the stunning rooms. Thank you for the upgrade and little extras to make us feel valued ✔️

Our party of 10 people came for afternoon tea to celebrate an 80th birthday. The afternoon tea was lovely with beautiful, tasty items. Some also added soup or macaroni cheese which they enjoyed. Two of the group required the gluten free option which was great. Apart from some of the cakes and the sausage roll substitute it looked the same to the extent we had to check truffle mushroom tarts were different to stop us poaching some of the non GF ones. . The GF scone also deserves a special mention. The staff were friendly and attentive and the Orangery a perfect setting.

We got married at Balbirnie just after Christmas 2023 and had the most magical day surrounded by friends and family. Leah was our Wedding planner through out and was excellent - very attentive, organised and helped guide us skillfully through the process. The hotel team on the day of the wedding - in particular Kenneth were also excellent - professional and always one step ahead which allowed us to just enjoy ourselves. Food and service is 5 star and rooms were spacious and very quiet. We had previously visited for our menu tasting in the Orangery where again the service and food were excellent.
