Was searching for reasonably-priced room and found a goldmine in Ginza Daiei. The location is great, right in the heart of Ginza, sits on a quiet side street off a main thoroughfare. It is only 3min walk to Higashi-Ginza subway station which has great connections to the rest of Tokyo. The hotel is a discreet, old building that could be mistaken for any office block in the Ginza area. True that the lobby is small and dated, no seating, purely functional but look deeper - the staff at the counter are professional, try their utmost to help and the noticeboard is filled with tips, maps and restaurant/attractions recommendations. All this points to staff who really are interested in giving their guests a good experience in Tokyo. The hotel offers more expensive, newly refurbished designer rooms but we settled for the standard ones which were really good enough. I won't comment on room size since this is Tokyo and all rooms are smallish. But the beds are comfortable enough and the space cosy enough for a nice retreat after a day of hard sight-seeing. This is a no-frills business hotel with no breakfast option, but as with most Japanese hotels, it is very clean, comes with amenities including sleepwear. If a hotel had a personality, this would be a stiff elderly gentleman who earnestly and politely tries his best to help. Nothing flashy, just good comfortable value in the heart of Ginza. We booked through the hotel website but paid cash on arrival and got a 5% discount off for using cash. Overall, prices are lower and more reasonable than many other hotels in Ginza.

We were meeting with friends and they wanted to stay in Ginza. I didn't realise that it's the trendy part of town, but it would explain why this was the only place I could find that was affordable. It was fine, as we weren't there to stay in a hotel room, but boy, space was sure at a premium. You could even see the discolouration of the paint near the bed where people had to push against the wall to get past the bed! It was however in a very central part of Ginza with heaps of restaurants nearby. It was however VERY hard to find a bar. We ended up in a ritzy rum bar, which I quite liked, but my mate just wanted a beer, and we could only do that in a restaurant (or a nightclub we somehow found ourselves in at 3am, but that's a story for another time!)

It is a bit old, but it easy to get metro station and walk to Ginza and Tsukiji Market. All in all it's good. However, if you are not good at going up and down the stairs, be aware of that there are stairs in front of the entrance and on the way to take the elevator in the lobby.

I was a little cautious as there weren't a lot of english reviews but this place was great! If Rick steeves came to Japan this is the type of place he would recommend. Small but not smaller than the usual Tokyo hotels . front desk staff all speak good English and were helpful with directions. We got this hotel as it was close to tsujiki fish market 8 min walk and steps to ginza restaurants like kigara ramen, etc. The best part was the price ! I was able to book 2 rooms for under 300$ for 3 nts. Get the deluxe single for a little more as it has better amenities. Rooms all come w fridge and WiFi was very good. The only challenge was signing up as a member to the Japanese website but if you can use Google chrome translation you can take advantage of their specials. There is also a 24hr Lawson's adjacent to the hotel for late night snacks and convenient store runs.

Located close to Higashi Ginza Station and the Kabuki za, this hotel offered great value for money in the heart of Tokyo. The rooms were clean, albeit a tad small for 3 people and their luggage (we evicted the chair to make more space), all the staff were great and there were plenty of places to eat nearby. No complaints from me. Happily recommend it, if you are after somewhere to use as a crash pad while exploring Tokyo, this is the place.

The location was brilliant, just a 5 minutes walk to Higashi-Ginza Station and less than 10 minutes walk to Ginza Station. Tokyo Station was around 20 minutes away by foot; taking the taxi was about ¥1000. The Higashi-Ginza Station was just beside the Kabukiza Theatre, the theatre of traditional Japanese drama. There was a gallery and small rooftop garden on the 5th floor of Kabukiza Tower. The best part of the location for us was the walking distance to Tsukiji Market, the famous fish market. We simply loved the fresh seafood and eating sushi at the counter was one of our best experience in Tokyo. (Please note that Tsukiji Market is relocating in 2016) The hotel itself was a very basic one in an old building. We had the Designer Double Room; while we barely hung out in the room, it was a nice place to sleep after a long day at the bustling city. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The size was just nice for me and my sister. There were enough space to open up the luggage and walk around at the same time. Staff and housekeeping were friendly and helpful as well. Overall, it was a pleasant stay at a great location with a modest price tag.

We stayed here with our two teenage children. We had two adjacent rooms - they were a decent size, very clean and had everything we needed. Bathrooms were great too and well equipped. The location is fantastic. An easy flat 20 minute walk from the railway station and just around the corner from the Ginza shopping area, the Kabuki theatre and loads of great eating places. It was a perfect location from which to explore Tokyo. Staff were friendly and helpful - language barrier never a problem. Would definitely stay here again.

It was my first visit to Tokyo and it couldn't have started at a better place than this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous throughout our stay and helped us a lot in navigating though the landmarks in the city. The room is a great value for your money , and the neighborhood of ginza is simply fantastic.A must for anyone on a modest budget who really wants to live in the heart of Tokyo

The Ginza Daiei was our first stay in Tokyo and it was a really nice experience. We were a group of 4 people, seperated into 2 double bed rooms. Both rooms were great - super spacious, comfortable and absolutely clean. 90% of the guests were Japanese and honestly it was great to be not surrounded by too many tourist groups :-D Some of the Hotel employees spoke english, some of them only japanese. Since two of us speak a bit Japanese it was easy for us. But even the two others had absolutely no problem in communicating. The Hotel was 3min away from the Subway Station Higashiginza, 10min walk from the Fishmarket Tsukiji, 5min away from the Shoppingstreet with a lot of good restaurants!! 5***** from all of us!!!

We had a great experience at this hotel. It is a great location! Typical Japanese hotel room.. very small, but nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can't beat the location of this hotel for the price. It is near the city center with shopping, restaurants, and the subway. They also have a computer at the hotel where you can use the internet for free.
