We were on our way to a “bucket list” destination in Yamagata Prefecture; our flight from the United States arrived at Narita Airport (well EAST of central Tokyo) Monday afternoon, and we had a reservation in Atsumi Onsen (south of Tsuroka) with a check-in time Tuesday afternoon. Realistically, the only way comfortably to make that connection was by air Tuesday...

Our family of 4 stayed for five nights this October, the staff were friendly and spoke English, the room spacious and clean. The buffet breakfast provided a good range of options for the more fussy child and the lovely staff member organised a high chair and special plates for the little one. On our last night our 1 year old...

Room is surprisingly spacious. Separate sleeping area with king size bed and even equipped with sofa. Building is a bit old but very well maintained. It's about five minutes walk from JR Hamamatsucho station so the area is quiet.

We stayed four nights at this hotel in the king room. It was a nice big comfortable room with a large king bed, seating area and big bathroom. Close to the train station and easy walk to world trade centre and the Tokyo tower. Hotel is a bit off the main drag but very quiet area with numerous restaurants and...

Location excellent for a few days in Tokyo if you come from Haneda - monorail to Hamamatsucho then 5min walk. Another 5min walk to Shimbashi station with plenty of connections all around the city. Rooms a bit tired but surprisingly spacious and good value for Tokyo. Each room has a small eating area, fridge and a kettle, so you can...

Having underestimated the popularity of Tokyo at Sakura time (8-11 April), I found myself at the end of February looking for suitable accommodation for two couples. After eliminating smoking rooms in love hotels and 11-sqm room “business hotels”, I settled for this fairly priced hotel proposing non-smoking, 24-sqm rooms. In fairness, Art Hotels feels a bit dated. But as always...

We had a triple room. It's a bit small but it's Japan. My parents were the idiots with big suitcases, this was a struggle for them throughout the whole holiday. It has a good location, nearby subway/train and a lot of restaurants nearby. The breakfast is good and the wifi is fast. Shower is decent and beds are good.

When I read reviews of this hotel last month, none mentioned about the luggage forwarding service. They do offer ta-q-bin and it was no hassle, prompt and everything in tact when my 2 suitcases arrived in Osaka (hotel-to-hotel). Cost about 1400yen per 20kgs luggage. Location is good and convenient, room spacious and beds comfortable. Bathroom clean and renovated. Staff was...

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
