I stayed in the hotel for three nights. Quite location, a clean comfortable room, 7-8 minutes walk to a train station and to a metro station, too. It is a good place for staying in Tokyo. One tip for breakfast. There are several cafes and restaurants in the hotel that offer breakfast. Please try the self-service restaurant on the ground...

I was attending a conference at the conference center, PAMIR, on the hotel grounds. I was booked at this hotel for 7 days by my hosts and I chose to stay extra days while attending to other business. The location is great if you have to travel in the Shinagawa ward of Tokyo, and it is down the hill to...

I've stayed at the Grand Prince Takanawa for business several times, this was my first stay at the Grand Prince New Takanawa which is located next door. Both hotels are located in the same area and are very similar from all aspects. The good: - The location near Shinagawa station is very convenient. - There is a shuttle to and...

My wife and I stayed at this fine hotel for 5 days. Great location just 5 minutes to the Shinagawa Train Station and situated in a calm residential area this hotel has everything to offer. Attentive service, nice rooms, great selection at breakfast, nice new lobby, full tourist services by the concierge, and walking distance to temples, shrines, churches and...

I stayed here yesterday for business. Upon check-in at 3.15pm (hotel's standard check-in time is 3pm), the Front Desk agent said that a smoking room was reserved for me which I later clarified with our corporate travel agent that it was not true. Anyway, I was told that hotel was fully booked and that no non-smoking room was available. For...

This amazing property welcomes you the minute the vast sliding doors open into a colossal lobby that overlooks a beautiful park in the middle of Tokyo's stainless steel buildings. Staff are ready to help you and serve with a smile. Rooms have balconies that overlook incredible city views. Many restaurants are located in the hotel if you prefer to catch...

Comparatively to typical Japanese business hotels the room we had was much larger and far more comfortable, there is a nice-sized desk and chair jutting out from the corner of the room and a vanity with chair for the ladies, as well a comfy chair for lounging facing the TV. The bathroom was also nice and spacious, it had plenty...

Overall, the service and friendliness of staff is excellent. Room is very dusty - the cleaning crew doesn't seem to do any dusting at all. Don't expect too much from club lounge - you get what you pay for. The white and red wine was less than average, the champagne was good. Nibbles is some nuts, smoked salmon, etc. Breakfast...

There are four Prince Hotels in the JR Shinagawa Railway Station area; the ever popular, but simple Shinagawa Prince Hotel, Sakura Tower and Grand Prince Takanawa with beautiful Japanese garden and this Grand Prince New Takanawa. I've stayed all of them in the past and I have to say that Grand Prince New Takanawa is the least interesting of all....

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The New (Shin) Takanawa Prince Hotel was designed by Togo Murano, one of Japan's leading architects. Every one of his design concepts from the exterior of the grand banquet halls to the restaurant interiors to the handpicked furnishings all harmonize beautifully, despite their different functions. This is the largest hotel in the Takanawa complex and it is a monument to individuality, décor and functionality. Like its other two counterparts, the New Takanawa Prince sits majestically on the beautifully landscaped grounds of a 10-acre Japanese garden. ... more   less
