Room was excellent! Very clean and view of Tokyo was panorama! Service was A+. Probably the best hotel in the area! Close to Shinagawa Rail Station. Price was well worth it! I booked only 2 days, then stayed at Ginza. Should have booked all days at Grand Prince New New Takanawa.

My wife accompanied my on a recent business trip. Was told by local meeting group that I would have a king room. Given a room with 2 twin beds. I complained, meeting planner complained, and local contact person also complained on my behalf. We were all told that no king room was available. While eating dinner at the hotel, just...

Not far from the main station of Shinagawa where most of the trains connection are. The hotel is modern yet also have some Japanese design into it. Specious room for Tokyo standard. The hotel promote sustainability where you could choose 1day to skip the Housekeeping service in exchange for cash to redeem in restaurant of convenience store.

I stayed in this hotel for six nights on business trip. Room was spacious and clean. Convenient location to other parts of Tokyo. Its about five minutes uphill walk from Shinagawa station. There is hotel shuttle service but not sure the pick up points as it is not shown on their web site. There is a convenient store at the...

The first room allotted was 2350, which had live cockroaches in the room. Called up the reception and my room was changed to 3315 which was kind of ok. Personally I prefer wooden and / or tiled flooring to carpets as it looks and feels much cleaner. Not sure how frequently are the floor carpets cleaned in the hotel. The...

Third stay at this hotel, last time was over two years ago. Checked in to find the hotel had been recently been refurbished, a added bonus! Great room, efficient, polite and helpful staff. Nice gardens to walk around, chill out in and relax. Shinagwa Station is just a few minutes walk away. All in all excellent hotel in a good...

Great location. Just walk for 15mins to Shinagawa MRT (walking to hotel is a bit tiring tho because the road is inclined.) B1 has 7-11 and should buy 2L water there because it is cheaper there than at NewsDay @ station. Great stay because the room is spacious enough and so does the shower and toilet. The beds were comfy....

The first day I stayed a room behind the elevator and the noise kept all night. I could not stand it the 2nd day thus called the front desk to change the room. The service was quick to change a room even at the midnight. The breakfast was poor with egg and breads only. In general the service and the...

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The New (Shin) Takanawa Prince Hotel was designed by Togo Murano, one of Japan's leading architects. Every one of his design concepts from the exterior of the grand banquet halls to the restaurant interiors to the handpicked furnishings all harmonize beautifully, despite their different functions. This is the largest hotel in the Takanawa complex and it is a monument to individuality, décor and functionality. Like its other two counterparts, the New Takanawa Prince sits majestically on the beautifully landscaped grounds of a 10-acre Japanese garden. ... more   less
