This hotel is just a few minutes walk away from Keikyu Kamata station, which is a short train ride away from Haneda airport, making it a good option for transit stays. While you can ride a train to central Tokyo as well, it takes time and for any extended stays, it's better to choose a hotel in central Tokyo. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area and is slightly tricky to find. There are signs in Japanese but if you don't read Japanese, it's better to check the map in advance.

The hotel was modern and beautiful for the price. The interior had some industrial look and feel, but the room was cozy and well-appointed. The room was small and there was virtually no table space (you have to set your expectations right based on the price) but was equipped with things like Apple TVs, multi-purpose chargers, and nice bath amenities you typically don't see at hotels of this level. It was also so quiet that I almost forgot I was in Tokyo.

The breakfast buffet was a bit expensive for hotels at this level, and the menu wasn't big. But the food was pretty tasty. Outside of breakfast hours, the cafe was open as a public working space. It was a pretty space and comes with some free drinks. There was a convenience store nearby, but beware that the dining options near the hotel is fairly limited. Overall I think this hotel is a really good value for short stays.

Thank you for using our service. It is located in a residential area, so it is quiet. I think the proximity to the airport and train station is also a good point. Thank you for your continued support.

Well, there weren't any murders while we were there, and it certainly wasn't at the level of the crazy prices for the train of the same name, but it was a very pleasant stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, which is great from hotels near airports, especially if coming off a long flight. There is a huge lounge with table where folks can work/ internet. Free tea/coffee, etc. Only drawback was that the rooms were rather small, but we later found they are probably just Japanese standard. Would recommend.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Chose to stay near Haneda airport due to our arrival and departure times, but close to train station to city areas (took around 30 mins). We didn't find the location a problem. Hotel was brand new and stylish. Staff were friendly. Quiet rooms, modern, but small, although good for Japan I am told. Bathroom felt like I was on an aeroplane, but the toilet functions were funny! Wifi worked well. Close to convenience stores. We would stay here again.

Here is the new hotel, which was opend in 2019.
This is well designed and has new facility and amenities.
But There isn 't work desk in each room. If you want to work, you had to go to the free space in front of the reception at the ground floor.
In this free apce, you can take coffee , tea or Green tea freely.
And you may have to look for the grocery store and restaurants to around the KAMATA station.
I wasn't able to find the resstaurants anoud this hotel.

Thank you for staying here. We are sorry for the inconvenience that we do not have a table in our room due to space limitations. There is a limited service time (10:00 am to 24:00 pm), but you can use the table in the cafe space on the first floor, so please use it the next time you stay. We look forward to seeing you again.

With a bit of high expectation I selected this hotel as the location is very good to catch flight leaving at Haneda or going to centre of Tokyo and also their ad: "A space that evokes the traditional beauty created by an area known for craftsmanship".
There was no prominent sign board of the hotel, therefore I just wondered whether this building was really hotel or not. Then I found a small sign on the metalic door-like wall. Yes, it is unique and has taste too.
The receptionists received me in a very business like manner and I did not feel warmth in their manner but they have upgraded me to a twin bed room. Their explanation of the hotel rules was very short.
The colour of their elevator was red and which is quite surprising and felt fresh and modern.
After entering my room the first thing I felt was smallness of the room. Then there was no desk/table to do work on pc. The deco of the room is prominently wood based, which is surely different from other hotels and felt good. There was a very large apple TV, which could have been a bit smaller as the room is very small. The bed was just good. One of the hangers was defective which shows the cleaner did do a proper job. Then in the bathroom a dryer was placed in a quaint way and it was very difficult to unwind the cord. The rack above the basin was not necessary or rather disturbance and dangerous as after washing face when you lift your head it hits the rack. This must be seriously considered. Another thing was bathtub's tap. It was a small one and felt difficult to wash things from outside tub.
The breakfast was very ordinary, which was a great disappointment as the meal explained in their website sounded quite attractive.

Another thing I thought was if they wish to be eco friendly, they could have removed extra amenities.

My husband stayed here when his flight was cancelled due to Typhoon Hagibis
He was on business in Tokyo, but due to the typhoon and subsequent grounding of all flights he had to say 3 extra nights
Due to lack of availability he had to book a different hotel each night and unfortunately booked this hotel the day the typhoon struck
He arrived and tried to check in, admittedly very early, as he wanted to be somewhere safe when the typhoon struck, but was told he couldn’t check in unless he paid extra. He thought this was
fair enough but then they tried to charge him more than the room itself (which was ready) for the early check in! On principle he refused to pay such a ridiculous amount and said he’d sit in the foyer till check in, but it was made clear he couldn’t do that either!
So, in the worst typhoon to hit Japan in 60 odd years they made him stand outside in the doorway! After an hour they did soften a bit and took him out an umbrella but he was left outside in the typhoon for 7 hours! 🙄🤬 He felt this was the hotel trying to make more money out of the severe weather and World Cup foreign visitors.
So if you want to stay at a hotel that puts profit over safety this is the hotel for you👌. Otherwise avoid like the plague. Add to that they have no bar and no restaurant either, so when confined to your hotel in a typhoon find a hotel with better facilities and more sympathetic staff!
Can I add, he stayed at JAL CITY on his final night who let him check in hours earlier than check in at no extra cost 😊

This time, Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Kamata thank you for using. This stay will not be satisfying for our customers, I'm sorry. Regarding the typhoon the other day, it took time to prepare for the room, which caused inconvenience. Our hotel only serves breakfast at the restaurant. All the staff are sorry that we were unable to provide food and drink in the windy weather. All of our staff will make every effort to satisfy more customers.

Extremely small rooms of just 13 m²
Quiet location but not much going on
Room is complete and offers most of the needed amenities but no cabinet since the room is too small
In the lobby there is an area with coffee machines where one can have meetings and free coffees
Check in is at 3 p.m. only. I arrived at the hotel at 1.40 p.m. The room was ready (empty and cleaned) but I was not given the room. I had to pay an extra charge to get in 1 hour and 20 minutes earlier. This I find ridiculous bcs. I pay the room for 24 hours and stayed 15 hours only. I informed the receptionist of my early departure but he would not let me in my room without paying the full “early check in fee”.
Since I left at 6. a.m. no breakfast was served yet – understandable

The hotel is at about 20 min taxi from Haneda Airport (we paid 3000 Yen for the taxi ride, on the taxi meter, after midnight). It is clean, and has everything you want (AC, WIFI, TV etc). The room was Japanese-style very small: it had only a double bed, which just fitted - no space to move around the room, or have a chair or whatever. Breakfast was included in the rate (rare in Japan, it seems), and was simple Japan-style with a mish mash of things (fish, burger patties, hash browns, rice, miso soup, croissants, coffee, tee, yoghurt - but no eggs or bacon or toast or jam). A train station is just outside the door.

Overnight stay for our family before traveling to Haneda airport. Location was easy to find, just take the overhead bridge at keikyu kamata station and go past seven eleven and turn right at second street path. Room was clean with apple tv and full bathroom amenities. At the lobby there is an area for people to do their work, use their laptop and same time enjoy drinking cup of coffee or tea. There are supermarkets, shops and restaurants at keikyu kamata station and we enjoy our soba at Fuji Soba opposite family mart.
