Its quite hard to find the location of the hostel at first because the directions on the website was poorly communicated. Located around 10-15 minutes walk from Minami Senju station. Quite far from tourist attractions but trains in Tokyo is very efficient. The room was clean, toilet was clean and the rate was cheap but you have to share the...

Don't follow the directions given on the site, poorly communicated. The owner is a nice guy, he gave me 10usd off a night. Nice outside area to hang out at, clean rooms, with TV and DVD selection. Living room and bathroom.

I do not recommend this hostel for the fact that the toilets and bathrooms were both very dirty. The toilet was so bad that I couldn't use it for the first day (had to find a park toilet to use). When I complained, it was cleaned, but the smell lingered. At least I could use it on emergency. Unfortunately, on...

I booked a room at this place at the last minute, as I could not find another hostel in Tokyo within that price range. Based on other places I've been to, I was expecting something better. The neighborhood is deserted, with no good places to eat or to go out. One goes to a hostel, mostly, for the vibe, but...

- Considerably cheap accommodation since most of hostels/ hotels in Tokyo are very expensive - 10 min walk from JR train and subway - Minami-Senju station - The guy manning the reception (sorry I forgot his name, not sure if it's Kenji) speaks very good English - There's free wifi but you'll only get good reception in the lobby area...

I stayed for 4 nights there. The stay is comfortable for the price you pay. As the name stated, great for backpackers. Free wifi available. Computers at the lobby can be used too. Rooms are clean. They will close from 11AM to 4PM for cleaning. During this time, guest are not allowed to stay in the hotel. The closest station...

We stayed for the first time for 5 nights at Tokyo backpackers. I was surprised about it! The rooms are simple, there is a dormitory room on one floor for men and another one for women. There are enough showers avaiable, and all of them were clean. You could also do laundry easily, without paying too much. Staff is friendly,...

Not a bad stay if you take in the price, Rooms were clean and the location was good with a train station only 10 minutes walk away. Just don't expect to much. The computers provided are useless so I recommend bringing a laptop if you have one. Be carefull in the surrounding area as it houses a large percent of...

I had two stays and totally three nights at the Tokyo Backpackers, around 15 walking distance from the Minami-Senju station. I stayed in a female room with six beds. Actually I slept quite well in the three nights. The room is very clean. The toilet is clean too. The shower room is in the 1st floor. I would say the...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
