What i love the most for this hostel is its convenient location. I use JR line to travel around Tokyo and this hostel just need short walk from Okachimachi JR station. Get out from the south exit of the station, turn right, go straight until you found the bigger road, cross the road, turn right until you pass the police...

This was the place I stayed at on my first night in Tokyo. As long as you take the correct exit out of the metro (exit 1) then it's a short walk straight down the road and on the left. Very convenient location with plenty of shops/cafes/restaurants etc nearby. One stop away from Akihabara. I stayed in a private single...

As an international traveller and first time visiting Japan, I went to Okachimachi Hotel for experiencing the capsules. Overall I am happy with the choice, there was nothing bad with the hotel but obviously it is not luxurious. The staff is nice, though they don't really speak English (as everywhere in Japan) so be prepared. The hotel is clean and...

We booked a semi-double room at a cost of 5470yen, which is really a large single bed. The room was set up for one person: one pillow, one tea cup, one robe, one towel, one pair of slippers. We had to ask for an extra pillow. Part of me felt that we were being charged more because there was two...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
