A wonderful hotel with a friendly staff, scenic rooftop, and comfortable rooms. The view from the top is truly wonderful, and being so close to many shrines, such as Sensō-ji is a great bonus. Don't miss out on the breakfast buffet, the French toast is delicious.

Hotel's Favourite
Really nice and well located hotel. Short walk to the Gate , Temple and Asakusa station, 20 minutes to Skytree. We had 9th floor corner room with views of all 3 attractions. Room perfectly equipped , nice wet room and bath . Coffee machine, safe, fridge, everything you could want. American Breakfast very high quality but only 3 set choices . Evening restaurant again nice although a bit pricey. Lots of small Japanese restaurants in locality, English spoken to to varying degrees . Always helpful. We arrived very early but as is the Japanese way no chance of early check in, very politely refused. Next door to a , very Japanese, supermarket.Snacks and beer available but no recognisable take out meals. Rooftop bar a great place to relax with an evening drink and great views. A very classy hotel in a ,I suppose ,what asses for a peaceful area of Tokyo ( it’s all relative ) a good base from which to explore if perhaps a bit far from main station hubs , although your pasmo card will get you everywhere.

A great hotel in an amazing location that is quite comfortable for the cost. We only stayed one night but I was incredibly impressed by the service I received by several of the front desk staff when I informed them upon checking in that I left my backpack on the Tokyo subway. They proceeded to help me track and ultimate find my bag and interpreted so I could go pick it up back at the Narita station the following morning. When that took much longer than anticipated, they allowed me to still get breakfast when I returned a few minutes later than the breakfast time and then also allowed us a late check out. I would highly recommend this place based solely on that but you also cannot beat the incredible location and the quality of the hotel for the price.

Location was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. Breakfast buffet was top tier, as was the view from the lobby, restaurant, and upstairs terrace. We'd happily come back here next time we stay in Asakusa.

We returned to the Gate Hotel in Asakusa, Tokyo after staying here in 2019 due to the high level of personal service, proximity to the Ginza subway line, the surrounding neighborhood's great vibe, cleanliness of the shared public spaces and guest rooms, and the rooftop bar and expert mixologists. Our November 2023 stay reinforced those impressions from four years ago. The Gate Hotel staff were extremely helpful and the food/beverage service has maintained its extremely high quality levels. We highly recommend the Gate Hotel in Asakusa and will no doubt stay there during our next visit to Tokyo.

Good location in Asakusa however our room was very poor. The furniture was beaten up, the carpet was filthy. The room badly needed a refit. We asked for another room (because the carpet really was horrible) but the new room was not much better. Of the 7 hotels we stayed in during our trip, this was by far the worst.

The hotel was wonderful. Great location to the Sensoji Temple, the metro, restaurants etc. We were able to access all points in Tokyo very easily. The Classic King room was perfect for my husband who is 6 ft tall. I wish I could bring home the bath. The staff was excellent and very helpful. I would highly recommend it and will stay again.

This hotel has the benefit of being in Asakusa line with direct link to Haneda T3, which was why we booked it for the last few days of our stay. Room that we booked was huge for Japanese standards, and the view was okay - we regret paying extra to be on the 12th, highest floor. The view was on part of the Skytree and the back of a building. Our bad for not researching how high the hotel is as 12 floors (for rooms) is not very high. As for the decor, this is what let the hotel down the most. Rooms are tired, with worn out carpets and furniture. Our room was very dark and with a bizarre colour scheme - dark green carpet (faded to yellow in places), green door, charcoal grey walls, black furniture and dark beige sofa. Bed and the pillows were comfortable. Mattress could be a bit harder, but it’s still on the medium side of things. Two things saved the experience though - the bathroom, and…the rooftop bar, or rather the barman there. The bar is available only to residents and therefore not crowded, making it a good place for a drink at the end of the day. The barman is highly skilled and makes superb cocktails. Check in took very long despite arriving well after check in time - we had to wait for 20 minutes. Overall, the place feels more of a 3 than 4 star hotel.

Really good quality hotel right in the heart of Asakusa Convenient for visiting Senso-Ji temple as the Thunder Gate is opposite the hotel ( tip: visit the temple at night as well as during the day - very quiet and great photo opportunities) Staff are so helpful, breakfast is excellent, roof terrace is good for a scenic drink, rooms are comfortable (one of the best hotel beds I’ve had) Just down the street to the right is a very good restaurant called Gonpachi and near the temple a cool bar called Cuzn Homeland. Great place to start our tour of Japan

We stayed here for three nights, and it was fabulous. The hotel front desk was really friendly, the rooftop view was amazing with perfect view of the Tokyo Skytree and Kaminarimon. It’s really convenient, with the Asakusa Station is just about 3 min walk from the hotel. Also, the supermarket downstairs next door is a must go to place for fresh fruits and various Japanese snacks. The room itself is tidy and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again next time when I visit Tokyo again!
