For this visit to Tokyo, we decided to ditch western hotels and go a little more traditional, and what we found was a real gem. Hidden away in a quiet neighbourhood just one metro station up the line from Ueno (convenient for arriving from Narita...More

My daughter and I wanted to experience a ryokan while visiting Tokyo. The location was quiet and close to the Iriya subway station. This ryokan (we stayed at two) had an elevator, a private bathroom (sink, toilet, shower) and small refrigerator in our room, and...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping

Yes. A shower and toilet and sink for the room we had. Lots of water pressure. There is a soaking tub off the lobby that could be booked privately for a fee as well.
