Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

The room is very small however if you know how to manage space, it’s actually quite alright with two people. The bathroom is clean, the shower can be locked (very important for me). The place has a welcoming/homely feel to it, as there is a small lobby with different activities.

We were recommended Andon by friends and were really happy with our 2 night stay. The rooms are tiny but clean and comfortable. Loved the quirky features around the Ryokan including the artwork. The Kotatsu was super cosy and we had an excellent breakfast both days. Thank you

Dear msanjose Thank you for writing very kind comments!! I am glad that you really liked our Ryokan. We are particular about breakfast and we will start cooking after receiving an order. We also have you can eat breakfast at the rooftop, so we are devised to enjoy p morning time. Tokyo is a big city and we have to walk a lot to do sightseeing. There is a jacuzzi to heal that tiredness. If you have a next chance, please come back again. Thank you.

Dear Evelien v Thank you very kind comments!!! I`m glad that it has become a special place for you. I think breakfast and Jacuzzi are our attraction. We also recommend antique items and a rooftop terrace. The place is a very quiet area in downtown. Access to the city center is also good, so you can go to various sightseeing spots. There are plenty of charm in Japan, so please do come again! I hope that we will pick up our ryokan at that time.

how to get there from Haneda
Dear Christopher F, Thank you so much for your inquiry! From Haneda Airport(whichever terminal it may be), hop on to the Tokyo Monorail and travel towards Hamamatsucho Station. Get down at that station, and change to the Yamanote Line (JR). Travel north towards direction of Ueno station. Get off at that station and change to another line, Hibiya Line (Metro), and travel another 2 stations north to Minowa station. Head out from exit number 3. From there on please follow the map in our website (In the case that you do not have a map to Andon, there are 2 other ways to figure your way out. Check with the station master, if he is still on shift. Or at exit 3 there is a poster map of the area, Andon Ryokan is clearly written on that map) Go to our official website and check the access from the airport. We truly look forward to seeing you soon! Andon Ryokan

"The rooms provide privacy so there aren't views. The windows just allow daylight in. Doesn't matter what room you choose."
"No elevator, so first floor is better if you have heavy luggage"
