Having just completed a 5 mile walk around the bike trail in newcastleton we decided to pop to the grapes for lunch. A lovely pub, very dog friendly, good food served by friendly staff. Recommend the fish platter, husband had steak pie, dogs given doggie biscuits. Huge portions well worth a visit.

Stopped here for lunch with my partner on way to our break at singdean. Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised! Food was delicious! I had eliots sausage and other half had fish and chips. Both plates were quickly cleared and I found room for the raspberry cheesecake which was equally as tasty. Staff were very friendly too.

I stayed over Hogmanay 2016 and found the staff friendly, helpful & very pleasant. The room was a bit tired but a lovely breakfast was served the next morning which more than made up for it. They also were having problems with the wi-fi which really needs looked at for business guests.

This was a game of two halves. We stayed 2 weeks ago for one night and it couldn't have been nicer. Nice room, great dinner and lovely breakfast. We went back last night just for dinner and my God, I don't know what happened but the food was absolutely diabolical. I ordered the same thing I'd ordered 2 weeks ago...

We stopped in for lunch with our 2 dogs. The staff were very friendly and the dogs were more than welcome and the staff offered dog biscuits. Lunch was good quality home style cooking, the sausages are very tasty and you can tell that they are butchers made and not mass produced. We'll stop there again when we are in...

I was reliably informed by my son who lives in the village that Tablet (a fudge like local delicacy ) can sometimes be bought at the Grapes. On Tuesday afternoon I popped in and was greeted at the bar by the husband and wife owners. I asked if they had any 'tablet' for sale. The answer was no and quickly...

A proper pub. Dogs welcome. Service excellent. Run by a really friendly family who were very welcoming to all of us , whilst we were on holiday in the village. Food good. Would recommend the lamb or the sausage and black pudding. The best black pudding I have ever had!

Thank Kerie H
