Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a fantastic stay at Sorbietrees, The farmhouse is a proper home from home in beautiful surroundings. Sandy is the perfect host and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was superb with loads of choice. The room with en-suite facilities was spotless and very roomy and we also had the usage of a cozy lounge to play games or read in front of the fire. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Sandy was a lovely, friendly and super-helpful host. Her home is lovely and in an amazing location in the Scottish borders. It's very easy to get to Kielder Forest. The room we had was cosy and comfortable and breakfast was generous and tasty. Also loved Sandy's cats and dogs. Would definitely stay again if in the area. Thank you

Booked 2 night stay here as had booked a late night session at Kielder Observatory (approx 30 minutes drive) Sandy was a great host and sent lots of information which helped us to plan our stay. There was also additional information on places to visit in the room. Sandy was very accommodating with a later breakfast/check out following our extremely late return from Kielder at 3:45am! Our room was very large with an ensuite bathroom, it was lovely to have tea & coffee making facilities with fresh milk and a selection of drinks and snacks. Breakfast was amazing with locally produced items and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very remote but beautiful part of the world.

We had high expectations based on the reviews we’d read, we were not disappointed. The room and building is immaculate . The bedroom spacious , a huge bathroom and all furnishings clearly of high quality . What makes the experience here extra special is the wonderful warmth you receive from Sandy. Prior to our visit she catered for my dietary requirements , upon arrival Immediately helped with our night trip to Kielder Observatory, booked us in to the local pub for a meal and and showed me when to charge my electric car in the village. The breakfast itself was superb and again served with such care and attention by Sandy. The village itself is a very friendly place , when charging my Tesla I had a member of the public helping and explaining the system . Again at the pub very attentive and kind service from Thomas. Thanks Sandy, for a very special stay.

Beautiful home set in lovely gardens. Spacious, clean and homely. We had a sunken double ended bath in our bathroom surrounded with candles. Breakfast is chosen from a menu the night before, was good quality, well cooked and presented. The owners were helpful and accomodating to requests. Sorbietrees is located close to the local village Newcastleton to dine out or have a drink in the local pubs. There are also, plenty of good walks in the local area. My husband and I had a lovely relaxing weekend at Sorbietrees and would happily stay again.

Stayed 4 nights, excellent service, excellent room and what the owner doesn't know about the area isn't worth knowing, it is very well located for exploring Northumberland and the borders, 30 minutes from Kielder, Hadrians Wall and a wealth of other sites

We were looking for a stopping off point on our way north to the Highlands. I was looking for somewhere dark, with a view to doing some stargazing. It was a little overcast for the 2 days we were there, so the skies were a little grey, but not biggie! Sandy greeted us and fed us and regaled us with local knowledge and fun stories, for our stay. Breakfast was huge and very good. Our room was spotless and everything was sanitised! We hope to get back at some point!

It was nice to be back at Sorbietrees B&B after a lapse of several years. Our most recent visit was for 3 nights staying in a Deluxe Ensuite room which was luxurious and extremely comfortable. Sandy and John go the extra mile to make a stay at Sorbietrees a truly memorable experience. The breakfasts are outstanding with a selection of cereals, fruit and yogurt as well a wide selection of cooked items available. It is also nice to be able to chat to guests at the breakfast table. Maisie the cat was made very welcome and she truly felt at home during her stay. Sandy and John have a wonderful place about a mile from Scotland/England border and close to Newcastleton. We hope to be back again in the near future.

We visited Sorbietrees during a bad storm, but Sandy did as much as possible to not let this impact our stay at their BnB. We stayed at the William Armstrong Suite and it had everything we needed for a lovely stay! The bathroom is laid out on 2 levels and has a lovely view over the greenery. The breakfast Sandy made was delicious and very filling for the day ahead! The local area of Newcastleton has some great little food places too and it was a really good location for Kielder - if the storm hadn't cancelled our event! We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend Sorbietrees as a place to stay.
