Meryl and Chris were the perfect hosts and couldn't have done more to make our four night stay most welcoming. Bedroom and ensuite bathroom immaculately clean and comfortable. Chris made very succulent evening meals, and anything we asked for was provided for by Meryl. She didn't hesitate to bring me a hair drier and a flask of hot water for... More

We stayed at the hotel for four nights in September and we enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is set right beside the river Dordorgne where you can swim, fish or canoe or just enjoy the beautiful river and countryside. The hotel is run by an English couple, Meryl and Chris who's welcome is friendly and relaxing. The hotel... More

What can I say, I was so pleasantly surprised about this place. Booked a family room, which was large with a large modern bathroom. I expected a travel cot for the baby so was extremely pleased to get a proper cot with mothercare bedding, nice touch. We travel a lot but I have never been made to feel so welcome.... More

We were spending time in the Dordogne region and thoroughly enjoyed our stop over at this hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The location is superb - sitting on the balcony enjoying our evening meal with the sun setting over the Dordogne River was spectacular. The hosts son, who waited on our table, was very approachable and helpful... More

We decided to stop here for dinner on our travels as the location on the river was nice. Food was simple but tasty and service was good. With such a lovely location, the owners could perhaps do a little more to i prove the ambience of the terrace where most people chose to sit. Get rid of the plastic chairs... More

On the banks of the Dordogne the hotel is easy to locate, parking round the rear is well signed and lots of space. Rooms, motel style, are underneath the bar and dining area. Very plain rooms, but spacious, clean and comfortable. Huge shower room. Very quite for sleeping. Evening meal on terrace was lovely. Watching the swimmers, canoes and wildlife... More

We stayed here for three nights, as we travelled around the Dordogne region. The room was a good size ,especially the bathroom. We did have trouble with the faulty shower head, that kept falling off, but Managment fixed it promptly. The location is fabulous. Its right on the river which was full of activities to watch. Its not very far from a supermarket, but... More

Stayed here whilst attending a nearby wedding. Loads of parking & close to supermarket. The views from the terrace are fabulous and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would work well for anyone passing though the area.

This was the second time we've stayed here and everything was perfect again. Meryl and Chris are wonderful hosts and made us feel most welcome. L'Escale is in the most beautiful setting right on the river and central to all the attractions in the area. We'll be back!!

I stayed as part of a group each occupying three separate rooms. Our first impressions were good. The place is clean and the rooms are a reasonable size, with a nice modern bathroom and simple furnishings in the room. Unfortunately, first impressions were swiftly destroyed by the hostess' tone and manner when speaking to us; each party having three separate... More
