This small B&B, 5 rooms only, is situated inside the walls of the old city. The interior is rustic and authentic. The atmosphere is friendly. Breakfast is not optional, but may be ordered. We spent two nights there, and plan to be back one day. They could have signposted it better, as we had a hard time finding it, even...

On arrival we got lost in the tiny streets so they came out to find us and showed us where we could park - just outside!! As we were the only guests we were offered the choice of two rooms. Both lovely. The breakfast was fresh and a good choice. Very kind and nothing was too much trouble. Very quiet...

Castelo Inn is a charming old house with a unique location inside the old city walls in Mertola. It is within walking distance of all the major attractions and the small bars and restaurants of the town. The rooms are spacious and cool with ensuite bathrooms. Parking can be an issue but we managed to find a spot just a...

We were really impressed by Mertola with its small winding streets and quaint feel it is a real gem among Portugal's many attractions. However, the icing on the cake has got to be this little guest house with its kind owner and charming rooms. It has a very homely feel and Edith, the housekeeper, does an amazing spread at breakfast...

First of all the name of place has changed and we had a hard time finding it. There is no parking unlike they say in the booking and the streets are impossible to pass through. It would have been greatly appreciated to have been warned about this instead of damaging our rental car. The lady who welcomed us was living...

The Casa Visconde de Bouzoes is a family run guest-house with an interesting and quirky décor. It is full of little decorative pieces that are reminiscent of traditional Alentejo with others that evoke retro living. It is on top of the hill inside the old walls of Mertola. The service is very charming and nothing is too much effort. I...

Been there for 1 night, woke up at 5 pm because of people making noises, walking and talking, being an old house everything is heard. There was 2 beds in the room side to side making it one, well it doesn't work, just stick with one large bed. Breakfast was abundant but also a little weak. Parking was non existent...

This hotel is inside the walls of the castle of Mértola, a place rich with history, mixing several civilizations for more than 2000 years. Lots of monuments and museums show a bit of this rich history. This hotel maintains lots of decorative elements of several different times giving an historical touch in a clear rural taste. It has particular charm...

As said earlier, somewhat difficult to find and scarcely signposted (best is to arrive from the old bridge from the south, take the first right along the river immediately after the bridge, climb up and park the car at the first return curve, the hotel is 10 metres from this curve in the adjacent street). It's is basically a restored...
