Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent a very relaxing and sociable 5 days here followed by a stay in Granada. Emma & David were warm, hospitable and knowledgeable hosts, the Andalucian-inspired food was delicious, the mountain walking and views were outstanding. The rooms and communal spaces are comfortable, very clean and authentically decorated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to my friends and family and would love to return - perhaps on one of their cookery or yoga courses

Property's Favourite Review
A beautiful property in the heart of the village owned and run by Emma and David Illsley. Many local walks radiate out into the mountains with Almond, Cherry and Mulberry trees amongst the vines. Their cuisine is excellent and based on the locality and everyone there loves what they are doing.

Emma and David were amazing hosts, along with all of their staff. I went on a yoga retreat with my mum and 6 others and we were well looked after. The food was varied and nutritious, and they catered for both gluten and dairy free which was fantastic. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the views were stunning. There is a dipping pool for when the weather gets too hot and we had the best massage from a lovely lady called Julia (who works on all levels, from the physical to the spiritual). Both mum and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I was lucky to spend a week relaxing here. The owners go the extra mile to welcome guests and share their expert knowledge of the region and cuisine. Food was delicious and healthy. Transfer from Malaga is lengthy (2.5 hours) and winding to get into mountains, but as a result, the village is authentic and traditional. Breathtaking sunrises and walks in the hills. I've come home rejuvenated and relaxed - a true break from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Had a fantastic week. The owners Emma and Davis could not do enough. We were on a cookery course.learnt a lot - truly wonderful. Saw and walked in the magnificent country side. Accommodation was simple but lovely, cleaned daily to a high standard. Everything was provided. Would not hesitate to return.

Booked for three nights, liked it so much I stayed for a full week. It's a great area to do some hiking, and David and Emma seem to know every trail within 100 kms. They will provide level-appropriate advice on the trails as well as detailed descriptions of dozens of walks. They are warm, welcoming and very generous hosts. The accommodation is quite comfortable, beds are comfortable, shower is hot, internet works. Dinners and the local wine are also excellent, and are great value for the price. I've recommended Las Chimeneas to friends and look forward to a return visit.

I stayed in the studio. A beautifully cool living room during hot days, with a small kitchen and bedroom above. Stunning views over the valley from the rooftop terrace leading from the bedroom. Spacious, airy, clean, and a very comfy bed. The food did not disappoint and so I was there for every meal to join the convivial atmosphere and enjoy the delicious cooking with amazing fresh ingredients often from their own organic farm. My room was cleaned every day and I was always well catered for and made to feel extremely welcome. On walks, recent rains meant the wildflowers were out. Emma and David's thoughtful and knowledgeable recommendations for local walks were tailored to individuals. Some routes easier to follow than others but I had no trouble, I was hiking on my own, and always enjoyed the little adventures. Since I got home my friends and colleagues have said I'm not the same: relaxed, smiling. This is truly a wonderful place to visit.

We stayed here for a week from mid April. The room had a breathtaking view and it was lovely. The food in the restaurant is the best I have ever eaten and the whole week I was looking forward so much to the evening meal, wondering what the choices would be. In our building there was a communal lounge and kitchen where you could make hot drinks. I'm not sure if that is available to every room as I know they have some different buildings. David and Emma and their other helpers made sure we had any activities that we wanted to do, or we could just do our own thing if we wanted to do that - there are superb walks from the house and you can drive a few miles to get other amazing walks. We went up to the mountains and walked along the snowline one day and drove to the Alhambra one day. We went for a day to a farm and walked with the sheep (an amazing experience), visited a local weaver, and rented their e bikes one day. So we had an amazing time, very active which is what we wanted, but also incredibly relaxing. You could have just sat looking at the view all day if you wanted! As you are in the mountains the weather can be variable - one day hot, another day cold. It is wise to check the forecast - on one day I was wearing a t shirt and on another day I had to wear a padded jacket. On the cold day we put the heating on in the room and it was lovely and warm so this did not inconvenience us at all. They run activity weeks such as yoga and wild flower weeks and these all looked really good. They have a beautiful yoga studio if you are on a yoga week - the view is stunning. I would definitely go back there again when I next need a week of active relaxation with amazing food!

I went on a baking week here and was so disappointed with the accommodation. I was really cold the whole time.Reading the other reviews it is hard to believe I went to the same place. I was in a small cottage (with another guest ) which they said had just been renovated but it was really not ready for visitors. There was almost no heating in the sitting room unless you managed to light and constantly feed a wood stove. The bedroom was tiny and had hot air heating which only worked intermittently. They did bring me a portable heater but it was not very effective. I was wearing 2 jumpers and a jacket indoors all the time. The en-suite shower water went everywhere and the toilet was uncomfortably close to the bed with only a plank of wood as a door. There was not internet in the cottage unless you stood right up against the window. The cottage was not cleaned at all during my stay. The common room in the main house was also v cold despite a log fire and also made it difficult to get the bread to rise. This was such a shame because the actual baking lessons run by E5 of Hackney were fine and the evening meals were lovely. I found the walking too challenging and would have liked much more information about the level of difficulty in advance. I did catch covid on day 5 which was not the fault of the hotel but did make my visit even more uncomfortable.

Spend at wonderful week at Las Chimeneas. Particularly appreciated David and Emma's concern and practical help in getting me out of trouble when a dental emergency arose - they got me to a dentist in no time at all, along with a staff member to act as interpreter. Characteristic of the person way they run Las Chimeneas.
