Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really loved this place. The Clywedog room is the one with the balcony, outstanding view and bath at the end of the bed. The decor throughout the whole place is luxurious and lovely - and spotlessly clean. The log fire is cosy and there is access to Netflix and Prime on the bedroom TV which was a nice touch. Guests also have access to a lounge (with the badger cam) and can help themselves to the licensed bar. There are beers and loads of spirits and mixers - you write down what you drink and pay on departure. We wouldn’t ordinarily spend a lot of money on a place to stay as we spend the majority of time out and about but this place really is worth breaking the norm for! If you’re looking for a dark sky spot - you can drive 2 minutes up the road to a reservoir view point where there isn’t a light in sight! Let your eyes adjust to complete darkness for 20 minutes and the stars are unreal on a clear night!

First visit to Ty Capel. The owners have created a beautiful home and place to stay. The location and views are stunning. The main bedroom Clywedog had a huge balcony/terrace with panoramic views of the lake, a brass roll top bath & a log burner! The conservatory dining room is stunning also with views of the lake. They even have a badger-cam to watch the badger feeding in the garden. Breakfast was fantastic! We will definitely visit again.

Brilliant b&b! So happy that we found it and were able to stay here! Beautiful house and a fab room, extremely clean and we wanted for nothing. The owners were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day ahead. The views here are spectacular, I don't think you could pick a more idyllic location for a break away! So peaceful, a lovely nature trail that runs down to the reservoir too which was a nice place to sit and take in nature. Overall an amazing place and we can't wait to return!

Plenty of space, well furnished and laid out house, enclosed garden. Local beach is superb - 5 mins drive. We had mostly rain, but even when in the house, plenty of space without feeling cooped up. Thoroughly recommended.

The perfect stay. The Clywedog room really is incredible. The views are just spectacular with really comfy seats to sit out on the balcony to enjoy the view The room was absolutely spotlessly clean. Bed was extremely comfy and copper bath tub very relaxing. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best we’ve ever tasted. Only regret is that we didn’t book to stay longer than one night. We hope to stay again in the future and would definitely book the clywedog room again.

As it was my own fault, I will not give a less than 5 point rating. We booked the Chapel room and it was too small for us. Bed and maneuvering space not enough for us. I could have known if I was a bit more sharper when booking. I wasn’t paying attention. However the owners were so flexible to offer us an upgrade even though it had implications for them. That was really nice. We enjoyed the Hafren room with incredible views. Loved the decorations and space. It was warm so we didn’t use the fire place but can imagine how nice that would be. The other large room is also beautiful! Breakfast was nice in a lovely setting. Surroundings are stunning! Easy walk to the lake as well.

What an absolute gem of a b+b! If you are after peace, and quiet surrounded by beautiful scenery, and nature, this is the place for you. Lots of birds visiting the well stocked feeders including green & yellow finch, and a Woodpecker. The highlight however was the two Badgers that came to snack at dusk! We stayed in The Hafren room which was extremely spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The view from the window was mesmerising, looking out on the garden, surrounding countryside, and The Clwyedog reservoir. We had Teresa's grazing board on our first night, washed down with drinks from the honesty bar, delicious. We loved our stay at ' Ty Capel ' so much that we've booked again for Oct. Thank you Jason & Teresa.

This was our fourth visit to Ty Capel B&B which shows what a great experience we had. Everything about Ty Capel is top notch, from the beautifully decorated rooms to the freshly cooked breakfasts. Jason and Teresa are lovely hosts, ensuring their guests have a restful stay. The views and walks around the area are spectacular, and there is a sailing club and trout fishing nearby. There is a bbq area at Ty Capel which guests can use as well as Teresa’s beautiful sharing platters.
