Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent food and service. Quality, varied and unusual ingredients and flavours presented beautifully. Sea buckthorn ice cream was a delight. Great value. We will not wait so long before returning next time. Highly recommended.

The rooms are beautiful, cosy and have excellent facilities. They also go the extra mile with lovely hand made biscuits, selection of different waters and coffee. The breakfast is simply out of this world and pre ordered the night before so this can be done at leisure. All the staff are attentive, polite and made us feel so very welcome even though we arrived late after a long drive. All in all one of the best hotel stays. Thanks you.

This was a real find. My room was clean and very comfortable and the food was fantastic. The Trewythen helps to train people for the hospitality sector and everyone was very helpful indeed. I needed to leave very early in the morning and their team put together a delicious cold breakfast I could eat in the restaurant at 6am. Highly recommended!

I only had dinner rather than stay but it was exceptional. An imaginative menu, tasty food and well presented. The two young waiting staff, a woman and a guy, were a credit to the hotel's training programme. Highly recommended. I'll stay at the hotel next time.

We had been walking in the countryside nearby and wanted to treat ourselves to coffee and cake. We found The Trewythen by accident and at £4.50 person we decided to give our custom. The coffee was hot. The cake was moist and delicious (plus a good selection which made it difficult to choose). While paying (cash is accepted), we discovered that this is a training venue for young people who are beginning their personal career within hospitality and catering. As one of us is a Careers Adviser, we were even more pleased to have discovered this hidden gem and know that we played a very small part in the development of the next generation. Keep up the good work.

Lovely hotel, owners must have spent a lot of money refurbishing the lovely building. We were running late and the chef kindly kept the kitchen open for us after it closed. The food was great far better than we expected very creative interesting dishes and good size mains! I have been staying in the area for many years and finally there's a good hotel in the area we will be back!

I booked dinner for three here on a reference about the chef. Discovered chef had been gone for 2 years. The appetiser salad excellent. Scallops excellent. We all wanted duck but there was only one left (on a Wednesday). The other two of us chose the lamb cutlets. They were too tough to cut, even with a steak knife, so we could not eat them. As the hostess I was not prepared o pay nearly fifty pounds for uneatable food. The manager refused to take it off the bill and offered the indifferent crème caramel free (£21). As a resident of the town I did not want a major row so I gave up the argument and am registering my dissatisfaction here. I must say the girls who waited on us were charming

Appetisers very good and tasty, 1st course we all had scallops again very tasty and good. Main course, they only had one Duck course left, so 2 of us had Lamb cutlets, unfortunately it was so tough we couldn’t eat it. Our host who had invited us was very disappointed… she spoke to the manager she informed him she was unhappy to pay the full amount of £50 for two courses we didn’t eat. Manager apologised. but was only prepared to give one dessert free.. No potatoes or side dishes offered. Very disappointed with the whole experience.
