Detailed Reviews
This was out first stay at Cambridge House but it won't be our last, that's for sure. I'm sure it's all been said in the other reviews, but here goes...... Sheila and Robert are wonderful hosts, really welcoming, making time for a chat, and a mine of information for walks around the area. The bedroom ("Mether" on the top floor) was simply beautiful with the most amazing view. Location about 5 mins' walk to the village centre on the Arkengarthdale road - very quiet over night. What have I missed....... delicious home made cake (mmmm) and the most superb breakfasts. Thank you so much! Peter and Clare.

Amazing B&B on the edge of Reeth, 5 minute walk to the main Square in Reeth, and a 15 minute walk to Dales Cycle Centre.
We were welcomed by Robert on arrival for our 2 night stay, who went through all precautions and process’ in place due to the pandemic, and shown to our lovely en-suite room, with views towards Fremington Edge.
Our room was spotless with a comfy bed and a tin containing cake and shortbreads alongside Tea, Coffee and hot chocolate.
We were also asked if we had booked anywhere for an meal that evening, we hadn’t, so Robert made a few calls to local pubs and booked us a table.
Breakfast is ordered the night before, you can choose from Full English , many cereals and fresh fruit salads, to lighter bites.
Tea of course is Yorkshire tea.
Breakfast is absolutely gorgeous cooked fresh, to your order the previous night and your table is pre-laid with what ever you have ordered, ie marmalade, fresh orange, cereal etc.
One complaint about the breakfast, the scrambled eggs are nicer then my own! but Shiela shared her tip for scrambled eggs, so I’m going try it.
There is secure storage for bicycles on site.
This is one of the best B&B’s I have ever stayed in.

Stayed here for 5 days recently whilst visiting various attractions in Yorkshire & the neighbouring counties of Durham & Northumbria. Very easy to get around by car & thankfully, no queues for petrol, which was a problem elsewhere in the U.K. at the time! Very impressed from the start by the measures being taken by Rob & Sheila to help combat the COVID2 pandemic….there was hand sanitiser in the room plus little extras like cake, beverage sachets & chocolates. An extra breakfast time slot had been added to assist social distancing & the breakfast choices are superb. Guests safety & comfort was of prime importance …. very reassuring. Advice was given about booking & eating evening meals locally which saved valuable time & also help on places to visit, opening times & weather forecasts. The glorious Yorkshire sunrises on occasion just topped everything off. Hope to visit again next year…an excellent mini-break!

Firstly, thank you for reviewing your early autumn break at Cambridge House from where you were able to tour not only North Yorkshire but also the North East of England. The photos are great and we’re glad you were able to enjoy the view and stunning sunrises over Swaledale from your room. We like to give our guests little extras as a welcome treat so we’re pleased you enjoyed them! Throughout the pandemic, we’ve prioritised guest safety so we’re pleased to learn that you were reassured by the measures in place. We’re always happy to help guests by offering suggestions for walks, places of interest and routes to take to make the most of your time in the Dales. We hope you’ll return next year so you can visit the places you missed this year. Best wishes, Sheila and Robert.

As tired key workers we were in need of some rest and relaxation and a getaway from city life. This was our third visit (but first post lockdown) and Cambridge House was perfect as every procedure was in place to ensure guests' safety but it was still lovely and welcoming with the personal touches that make a stay here so comfortable. Breakfast is still brilliant but rather than a communal table you have your own time slot. The room was as spotless as ever but with all the extras to make you feel especially safe including a completed room cleaning checklist for peace of mind.
Reeth is open for business so that is your evening meal sorted and Robert and Sheila are still on hand to give expert advice on local walks and places of interest. We have returned home refreshed and can't wait for the next visit. (The marmalade is still amazing too!)

Thank you so much for your feedback; we're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and were able to get some rest and relaxation after such an extraordinary few months. As our first guests post Covid-19lockdown, we really appreciate your positive comments about the measures we've taken to follow the protocol to reduce transmission of the coronavirus and that they didn't detract in anyway from your enjoyment of your weekend break. Reeth is definitely up and running and ready to welcome visitors. We look forward to welcoming you back to Cambridge House when you need another relaxing break. Best wishes, Sheila & Robert.

It's little wonder that Sheila & Robert have won "Best B&B in Yorkshire" more than once. A friendly welcome & a run through the current restrictions that are in operation due to covid. The room was spotlessly clean with all the facilities needed for a two night stay. That extra touch with cake, shortbread & sweets made us feel welcome from the start. Breakfast was excellent. The location is ideal, just 5 minutes walk into the centre of Reeth & from there you have easy access to walk in Swaledale or Arkengarthdale. We shall return.

Just returned from a lovely stay at The Cambridge House. From super bedding, a spotless room, to crisp white table linen and a superb quality english breakfast (not forgetting the delicious homemade marmalade), we couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant stay. The hosts were warm, welcoming and great hosts. Reeth was a lovely village with three nice pubs, lots to see and do in the area. Highly recommend.

2nd time here and we really enjoyed it again. The rooms are really lovely, also nice communal rooms which you can use if desired, and the hosts could not do enough, 2 lovely people, Sheilas cakes are gorgeous so dont say no if offered.
The accommodation is cosy and well appointed, nice views and quiet, the most noise you might hear is the pheasants. Its a little more pricey than the nearby pubs but absolutely worth it.

I had a lovely couple of nights stay at Cambridge House and would definitely return. Lots of care had been taken to ensure comfort and cleanliness which I was very appreciative of and I was welcomed warmly on arrival by both hosts. The food was outstanding - I particularly enjoyed the delicious lemon cake with a cup of tea in my room after a long journey and the delicious chocolates! Also, the blueberry pancakes for breakfast were both nutritious and very yummy. Would highly recommend for anyone seeking a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Thank you for your excellent review and recommendation. We really appreciate feed back from our guests and it's great to know that you enjoyed your couple of days away from the city and were able to relax in the peaceful surroundings here at Cambridge House. We're glad you enjoyed the cake even though we couldn't serve it in the conservatory as we used to do before the Covid restrictions. We hope you'll return in the future. Best wishes, Sheila and Robert.

Just returned from one night stay at Cambridge House, courtesy of a gift voucher received last Christmas and used now that the business is open again after the Covid enforced closure.Impressed by the fact that initial contact gave us the comfort that they had come to terms with what is needed to ensure a safe yet welcoming stay. This feeling continued when we arrived to be welcomed, from a distance, by Robert and shown to our 2 lovely rooms. It was a comfortable and well managed stay, e.g pre-ordering breakfast the night before ensured it all ran smoothly in the morning and staggered dining times ensured no risk of contact with other guests. The choice of breakfast , from full English to American pancakes and Award winning homemade marmalade’s set the day off perfectly.
Easy parking in the walled front garden, delightful en-suite, short 440 yard walk to village green where we had the choice of 3 dining pubs and within easy drive to Leyburn, Hawes, Aysgarth and many other attractive villages makes it an ideal place for a short break.

Cambridge House is an outstanding excellent 5 star rated Bed and Breakfast. Breathtaking views and situated in the village of Reeth. Sheila and Robert our hosts went out of their way to ensure our stay was to a very high standard. Our ‘Tan’ bedroom had such a comfy bed and pillows to ensure a wonderful nights sleep. Immaculately clean throughout the house adhering to Covid rules which was good to see.
The guests lounge was wonderful to sit in during the evening with a log fire and superb decor.
Many luxurious touches feature at Cambridge House in both the bathroom and bedroom. Wonderful toiletries along with fluffy dressing gowns. Home made cake. Chocolates, along with your choice of beverages with fresh milk stored in a fridge handy to use.
Breakfast choice and menu was second to none. All products used are mostly locally sourced and the best quality. The extra touch of ordering a picnic lunch from a great selection offered is so helpful.
Thank you Sheila and Robert we will be back. We are so lucky to have found a real gem.

Firstly, thank you for your very complimentary feedback. It’s very pleasing to hear that you found your stay in Tan to be very comfortable, particularly the bed and pillows, and that you enjoyed the Noble Isle luxury toiletries, the locally made Mocca chocolates and our own homemade cake. The guest lounge is very popular with our guests, particularly in autumn and winter when many chose to snuggle up with a good book in front of the fire. Our breakfast menu celebrates the best local, Yorkshire produce from the muesli and granola, milk, yogurt, sausages, bacon and black pudding to the homemade bread and our award winning homemade marmalades and jams. I’m also glad you enjoyed your picnic, particularly the selection available; our picnic menu aims to cater for all requirements, including gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options and includes locally sourced produce as much as possible. We hope to see you again, kind regards, Sheila and Robert.
