I travelled to the Buck Hotel in end of November 2016 whilst in Richmond. I had two dogs with me and my needs were very simple. It was very last minute but I arrived in the dark and the the Manager was very welcoming and incredibly helpful. I always worry about having dogs with me as some places tolerate dogs...

Warm welcome. Very popular hotel with good food, comfortable rooms and, the evening we were there, live music from a folk duo. There is a large function room which is also the breakfast room. Good selection of local real ales.

We stayed here for two nights and were very impressed. The room was clean, quiet and had a good view, whilst the food was excellent. The level of service was particularly high and all staff very friendly. For example, as it was November we were one of only two couples staying but at breakfast we were still offered the full...

Very good room, large and bright. Overlooked the street and outdoor bar area but not uncomfortably noisy at all. Has great wifi. Great bath with shower, soap, no shampoo/conditioner. After trekking C2C all day, bath was desperately needed. Meals excellent and host was very friendly. There was music on the saturday night but it couldn't be heard up in the...

Stayed one night in October, the hotel is comfortable and staff very helpful. The ploughman's lunch in the bar was substantial! It was easy to read, write, relax on my own, which was just what was needed. Lovely views from the bar area, and from the bedroom. The local bus service is very limited in the autumn and winter, but...

I am new to the area, so will be eating out at a different place each week until I'm familiar with my local restaurants and pubs. This was my first outing, and they have set a very high starter bar for both hospitality and food. had the most excellent whitebait starter followed by lamb cooked to perfection. Definitely gets both...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Buck Hotel is a former Coaching Inn which dates from circa 1760 and is located at the village of Reeth's main cross roads and where a turnpike was in operation two centuries ago. The C2C goes past the front door, so the Buck is very popular with walkers. The Buck retains its traditional oak beamed bar with interesting horse brasses and an amazing collection of door knockers! Plus the tour de France passed the front door in 2014 so has now become very popular with cyclists. With an excellent reputation for real ales and ciders the Buck has been awarded the 2015/16 Cask Marque [for quality Real ales] and is featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2015.There is a good and varied menu with daily specials, which includes everything from Steaks to Fish & Chips and Game when in season. If you like a whisky, there are over 50 to choose from and the wine list is very popular. Dogs are welcome and there is overnight storage for cylcles. With a roaring log fire, the Buck offers the genuine Yorkshire welcome. ... more   less
