Reopened 1st Sep 2019: Overlooking a secluded lagoon in the northern Okavango Delta, Kwara offers the ultimate Delta experience. Its location allows access to the permanent waterways of the Delta as well as expansive dry land areas, admired for their quality game viewing. Kwara offers, within the exclusive concession in which it is located, a wide variety of activities. In addition to game drives, both day and night, the camp offers mokoro trips, as well as fishing (spinning equipment is provided but fly fisherman need to bring their own equipment). Boat trips are on a double-decker boat that visits the Godikwe Lagoon in the waters of the Moremi Game Reserve, which is known for the abundant varieties of birdlife especially during nesting season.

My husband and I traveled 2 weeks in Africa, visiting 3 different safari camps. This was probably our favorite of the 3. The camp was recently refurbished and it showed. The "tents" (really cabins) were extraordinary with just the right amount of rustic and plush. We especially loved the outdoor shower, which came in handy during the record-breaking heat spell. There was no A/C, which was a negative, but mornings and evenings were quite comfortable. It was the afternoon siesta time that was uncomfortable, but we learned to spend time either in the outdoor shower or the pool. Ceiling to floor glass allowed a fine view of the plain and we saw all manner of (non-predator) wildlife from our room and deck. After dark, you're escorted to and from your tents for safety as elephants, leopards, etc. sometimes move through the camp at night. We were in tent 1, which was the farthest from the lobby, but we loved being snug and tight as far from the hub as possible.

Mealtime was communal, which we liked due to the nice mix of visitors. Food was delicious and plentiful, but not pretentious.

By far, the best thing about this camp is its location in the midst of a private concession. Our guide, Alex, and tracker, Matt, were excellent and worked hard to assure we saw everything we came to see - and more. The only thing we didn't see much of at this particular camp was lions. They move around their territory and they didn't happen to be where we were at that time, but we saw a great many at the next camp so it was no matter to us. We saw cheetahs, leopards, hippos, wild dogs, giraffes, elephants, zebra, wildebeest, warthogs, kudu, impala, steenbok, jackals, baboons, ostriches, brief glimpse of lion cubs, and more. We didn't go to Africa for accommodations or food; we went for wildlife, and Kwando Kwara delivered big time!

We spent 3 glorious days at Kwara camp last week. From the amazing safari vehicles, to the efficient management, to the learned and friendly guides and trackers and to the excellent food and lodging, Kwara excels in all. The newly rebuilt camp is very luxurious with clawfoot tubs and amazing beds; the delicious food is a sit down communal meal with the guides and other travellers.Drinks are always flowing and the high tea overlooking grazing animals is a delight. We particularly loved the Mokoro ride and the boat ride on the Delta. The animal viewing wasn't as easy in the green season but when we did see cheetah and wild dogs and lions, it was in this magical green sea of waving grass and baby animals everywhere: uncrowded and great value at this time of year. We want to thank our knowledgeable guide Dave and amazing tracker KB for tirelessly finding animals and birds for us hour upon hour. Having a tracker is such a luxury and being the only two people on the two last game drives was fantastic. This camp and the Delta in particular are top notch and took safari in Africa to an all new level for us. Animals all over the camp made it even more special.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

After having just been renovated several months prior to the COVID pandemic, this camp feels brand new, from the vehicles to the rooms to the common spaces. The on-camp staff and guides all provided extraordinary service, and the animal sightings in the Okavango are fantastic. Would highly recommend.

The third of our Kwando camps and this is the place to finish your stay in the Delta.
Undoubtedly the best appointed camp we have ever stayed in, the rooms are the definition of safari luxury, capacious with superb interiors and with bath, indoor and outdoor showers. Each overlooking the lagoon, the 'tents' are serviced by two swimming pools at either end of the camp. We have never looked forward to going back to our tent so much! The food was amazing - hats off to the chefs - and there was no shortage of eating opportunities.
This luxury is worthless however without superb staff and service, and these guys really do knock it out of the park. From the managers Charles and Tom down through every member of staff they understand the importance of personal, friendly but spot on service. Thanks to everyone of you for making our time in camp so special.
Our guide Shime and tracker Luke are a first class team and worked exceptionally hard to find what we wanted to see and to spend time with it. Their knowledge and skills are fantastic, knowing when tracking needs to be replaced by patience for an unforgettable wildlife experience.
The environment here is stunning, but also offers its own challenges at this time of year in flood. Crossing the marshy areas to switch islands and track game is not always possible, and sightings through the long grass are sometimes a challenge. But we were treated to some very special wildlife sightings that we will never forget so it was absolutely worth the 4 nights we spent here.

We stayed here for three nights in this newly refurbished camp in the wonderful Okavango Delta, on the last leg of our 14 night safari.
The camp is beautiful, with spacious, luxurious suites & comfortable common areas. The view from the lounge over the Pan in front is incredible, with large groups of Elephant visiting regularly for a welcome mud bath.
The food & beverage offering, is superior to our other four camps, with premium drinks & 5 course dinners.
Tuelo was again our guide, after being with us at Tau Pan Camp.
At this point, the early starts were starting to take their toll on us, but our guide was enthusiastic & we had some great sighting, especially a Wild Dog hunt and a leopard called Golden Boy.
We really enjoyed our stay, the camp was beautiful, with great service from the camp staff.
My only concern is that prices may rise to reflect the additions, which although welcome, are not the reason we come on safari & my price us out of a future visit. I hope not.

I had Wago and Justice as my guide and tracker. We had a lot of fun, ‘taking it easy in Botswana’ was my motto so we were happy with what came out way each day which was invariably something beautiful and interesting. . I really needed a relaxing break after quite a long lockdown in Australia and it was so restorative at Kwara Camp, you can really get away from work emails, the depressing news cycle and focus on the beautiful Delta. I’d never been to Botswana before, the magnificent trees and birds alone were amazing to me but we saw some great animals too, including lions and wild dogs. The guides were well co-ordinated at sharing news of the animals and where to find them. Wago and Just ice couldn’t do enough for me. I was so spoilt having them and the vehicle to myself most of the time but on the couple of drives where I did have the company of other guests I really enjoyed their experiences and insights. The other guests tended to be repeat customers, some for many many years which was testimony to this camp. The room seemed brand new, so luxurious. The embroidered elephant logo on the pillowcase was charming and I would have bought one as a momento had they sold them in the shop. The food was delicious and the camp staff friendly, I just loved it when they sang and danced the “Beautiful Botswana” song, it was very moving. I would highly recommend this camp, it’s a great option for someone travelling solo especially as visiting in the low season made it affordable, and for me I saw all the wildlife I needed to. It was great to meet other like minded people, it was a total reviver to be back on safari in Africa after ten years and reminded me that it’s hard to find anything else to beat it.

This was our first time trying a Kwando property and we were really impressed with the beautiful but comfortable decor of the camp, rooms and pool areas, and the prolific game viewing. Kwando also limits the number of guests in a jeep and this is an adult only camp and we appreciated those two things! Within the camp there was a lot of game activity traveling through camp, more so than other camps we stayed. We found the food to be very good and really enjoyed the camp fire breakfast and stocked bar by the pool area which was a refreshing way to spend the afternoon.

Johnson and Eric were are guide and tracker and they gave us great game sightings. We saw mr. special, the area cheetah twice, a very active pack of wild dogs feeding, and other great sightings on land and on our sundowner boat drive.

I highly recommend this camp and would stay at a Kwando property again!

We stayed for three nights approaching mid-June & had a great time with our guide Dave & spotter/tracker Tina/Luke - other than leopard we had quality sightings with Lion, dogs & cheetah (Mr Special) plus lots of the usual game & good nighttime spotting with servals, African wildcat & genets regularly spotted. Thanks Dave for all your hard work.

The camp is lovely & Florence and the rest of the team did a great job of looking after us, you definitely don’t go hungry on safari with Kwando! - plenty of life in & around camp with kudu, vervets, warthogs & elephant seen plus plenty of hippo in the lagoon that was slowly spreading out as water levels were rising. Rooms are great too with the shutters helping keep out the cold breeze in the early June mornings.

Mokoro rides were done in front of camp & were a relaxing 45 mins followed by the usual morning drive. The wild dog den is quite close to camp but pups still underground whilst we were there so the camp was keeping visits to a minimum.

Kwara was an amazing camp to spend three nights, and I wish we could have spent more.

Having visited safari camps in Africa before, I can say the staff at Kwara are the most welcoming group of people I have spent time with over a few different countries. Of course everyone is expected to smile and make your stay pleasant, but there was a genuine feeling of acceptance among the team at Kwara and I feel this is what made our stay memorable.

We were collected at the airstrip by Stanley (guide) and Eric (tracker) who were both a little reserved, though I think once we spent enough time together they both felt that could relax, be themselves and hopefully enjoyed themselves as much as we did.
The camp staff were great as well, with Charles and Lizzie always welcoming us back from game drives, and Evelyn and Poster always making dinner fun.

The tents are the largest we have stayed in, and very comfortable. My wife went as far as to complain the beds are so large she couldn't see me from her side. The beds can be configured as twin (two singles) if required. Indoor and outdoor showers, plenty of wardrobe space, bathrobes, bathtub, all the comforts you could expect from a five star hotel. Bug spray and insect repellant is provided in the rooms.

I won't go into details about wildlife and food, as this was all amazing, but I will reemphasise the people make this camp great. Would happily reccomend and would also apply return.

Stayed for 3 days recently. The tents are the very definition of glamping. They're well spread out and private. You're actually not in the tent very much as they want you up at 5:45 and outgoing most of the day. The problem for us was, the camp was fully booked, no covid protocols, and they were not very flexible as to what we wanted to do. They have to entertain a bunch of people at the same time.

However the experience was worthwhile, the company is very professional, and we had some amazing stuff including elephants right out our door, and wild dog packs hunting right next to our tent.

For the price which is not cheap, I couldn't say that I would recommend it or not. You certainly wouldn't be wrong. The landscape around the area was some of the most iconic African views you could ever expect.

In late June there was a cold snap and we were pretty cold in the rooms without any windows or protection. Bring lots of layers

Hi Wally. Agree with comments above...though I was one of those that posted that the camp could a bit of a face lift. Go to Kwara. You will not regret the decision. Location is great, staff are really good, Okavango is pure magic, birds and animals incredible.
