Popped in with a mate for a pint and food . Great shepherds pie with veg and a generous ham egg and chips . Great portions and really delicious food . Excellent real ale - Tribute and a larger for my yet to be enlightened mate.
Service was fast and friendly.
Highly recommended.

Stayed at the Old Mill House just outside Wilton, a few miles from Salisbury overnight. This IS NOT the Old Mill Hotel, which is nearer the city centre. Old Mill House offers traditional intimate accomodation and is mentioned in the Domesday book, but remains in immaculately kept condition. The private bathroom, despite not being en suite was directly opposite and spotless. It really is the numerous little touches that made this special. The silver tray for the cups in the bedroom, the floral bedding on pine beds, the provision of a bath robe, even some shower gel (very handy, I'd forgot mine!) etc. The house is on a main road, but is secondary glazed. I selected full cooked English breakfast and had the finest sausages I had eaten in a long time and large pot of tea. Maggie, who runs the place, proudly showed me the mill workings in the basement area (also used for dining). She epitomises all that is traditionally English and makes sure her guest house does the same.

Stayed here for six days in April. Located in South Newton near Wiltshire not to be confused with the Old Mill Inn in Salisbury. We were given the entire downstairs which included a private dining area which led to the garden with a lovely pond. All this for only 60 pounds per night. Very large family bedroom and large en-suite bathroom. Very clean with many special touches throughout. Maggie, the owner, was so thoughtful and wonderful. Not only did she fix us a full English breakfast at our convenience but she cooked us three wonderful home cooked meals as well. She even did our laundry for us!!!! Location is on main road but you never knew it. Very peaceful in the backyard with lovely walking trails. First day we woke up and there was a bunny rabbit outside one window, horses at another. Sitting out by the pond in the garden was lovely in the evening. The location was wonderful for day trips less than 2 hrs round-trip including Glastonbury and Bath. Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Visited on 21/07/2021 for a special lunch. Arrived at 12.55 p.m for a 1 'o'clock booking. Food eventually arrived at 2.35 pm. No explanations as to why the food was so slow coming. When it did come the quality of the cooking was terrible. My sirloin steak was like a piece of dry old leather. The fried eggs with the ham and eggs had thick skins on the yolks and the ham looked as though it had been taken from a packet of supermarket very thinly sliced ham and rolled into tubes. The lasagne dish was overcooked and dry. The sea bass came looking as did everything else as though it had been hanging around for some time - overcooked and dried up. The gluten free roll was unappetising and the requested butter didn't turn up. The chips were fine. No attempt was made to enquire if we were enjoying our meal and to see if 'everything was alright'. The salads came drenched in a dressing. The whitebait starter was passable but the salad leaves on which it was served had seen better days. The garden furniture on which we were seated was old and rough. No cushions to sit on. The garden grass was long and needed cutting. The seating was such that our feet were on bare earth where the grass had been worn away. We should have walked out - the worst dining out experience we have ever had. Go elsewhere.

We were greeted at the front door by an overwhelming smell of dogs. Luckily this did not travel as far as our room.
The room was quite nice and the beds were fairly comfortable, but we had to cross a hallway to get to our bathroom. This would have been fine exept the small hallway had four doorways. One to our bedroom, one to the bathroom, one into the communal hall, and one into the hosts' son's bedroom. We kept running into the son in the small hallway when we were going to our bathroom and we did not like this.
Another thing we did not like was that we were not allowed a key to the house, so when we went out in the morning we could not come back until the owners came home in the evening...not very accomadating. We were also told not to lock our room as this was inconvenient for the hostess to enter. She assured us the contents or our room were safe, but there were other people staying there and they could easily have gone into our room without the door being locked.
I made one short phone call to Canada and she charged me five pounds. At the next B&B we stayed in I made six phone calls to Canada and they charged us six poinds. Five pounds for one call was very unreasonable.
The breakfast was quite good.
All in all the worst B&B we stayed in on this trip.

As a family of four, we found the Old Mill Bed and Breakfast a wonderful experience. It was wonderful for the children to see the mill's old machinery, representing real history. More than this, the owners were so gracious. The abundant English breakfast was served in a setting chosen with care. The china, placemats, sugar containers,etc...reflected the charming hostess.

The Old Mill House was in the perfect location for us and is a splendid historic building. Friendly host and hostess. My husband and I had booked (phone followed by e-mail) the twin room with bathroom opposite well ahead with all "arrangements as on your mail" confirmed by e-mail from Maggie. Also confirmed in writing is the fact that she has kindly permitted us to arrive between 10.30-11.00am so we can change following a long drive and that her house-sitters will be there to welcome us. I offered a deposit - none required - payment in cash please on departure.
We arrive at the arranged time and after a worrying wait having rung the bell, find we're not expected until later in the afternoon and our room isn't ready. This isn't a problem as we can use the room (unmade beds) and the bathroom. A motley selection of towels is hurriedly produced. At quick glance it looks like two bath and two hand towels but on further inspection one is a bath mat. We're in a hurry and don't think to ask for a key (that doesn't prove to be a problem either) and are on our way.
Back early evening we are greeted by Maggie and escorted (with key) to our "lovely twin" (Maggie's description) room and instantly asked for our breakfast requirements before we've had the chance to put anything down or find a menu. The room is a disappointment: quite basic with two pine (type) beds. One bed is pushed up against a series of cupboard doors with the other on the opposite wall leaving just enough space between for two bedside tables. This small room majors on doors: in addition to the cupboard doors my recollection is two wardrobes and two further doors. It faces the road and is well insulated against traffic noise but we don't have the lovely view that other reviews mention. This could well be due to our request for a twin room with this perhaps being the only one.
Attempts to have a bath later are thwarted as there is no bath plug. Requests for one elicit the response that the bath is not in service, I should use the shower and that I will find that most B&Bs only provide a shower. This is the seventh B&B in which I have stayed in as many weeks and on each occasion I have requested and been provided with a bath. Furthermore "bathroom" following my request for a bath, is confirmed by mail. I don't like showers.
There follows an uncomfortable night on a squeaky bed where unfortunately the mattress is not man enough to disguise the wooden slatted bed base. Additionally there is just one very skinny pillow.
Before descending for breakfast at last read the menu. I had ordered the basics of muesli, fruit juice and coffee but nothing cooked. Now see there is the option of fruit and yoghurt too: good. On the sideboard no sign of fruit nor yoghurt which, from previous experience, is normally out on a help-yourself basis but this is brought when requested (only flavoured yoghurt pots) and, oh dear, those nasty fiddly packets of butter. My husband is quite happy with his cooked breakfast.
If in the area again, we'd look at other options.

This is a clean, pretty, small B&B in a nice location, on main road from Wilton. On opening the front door, the dogs immediately rushed out but didn't see them at all after that. Maggie immediately whisked me round the place, showing me the bedroom and breakfast room without waiting for my partner to join us. A bit bewildering and completely forgettable after driving for two hours! No mention of how our journey was but a list of rules - don't take the key out, don't leave lights on. We were in the ground floor room with a mechanical toilet which we were shown how to use, sounded like an angry bear when flushed! Maybe it was trying to get out to join the teddy bear in our bedroom - the Hotel Inspector would not have been impressed! Room also smelt musty due to being next to the old mill wheel so damp to be expected. We also had to order our breakfast five minutes after arriving which we found a bit peculiar and begged the question whether food had to be defrosted. All the usual stuff in our room including a Penguin biscuit three months out of date and a nasty pink wafer.
This B&B is in a nice location although we can't comment on the views due to being in the front on the ground floor. Place seems a bit overstuffed with antiques, especially in the breakfast room. Breakfast rather plain, no choice of preserves and just a few cereal boxes. Our tea cups were awful, old antique ones with bevelled edges which were very old and worn.
Would recommend as okay for a night's stay but not for longer as far as we were concerned. It was very clean which is the main concern really although the out of date Penguin biscuit raises a few questions.

We stayed at the Old Mill House after a long day trotting around Avebury and Stonehenge. First of all, be careful as the signage is somewhat small and easy to miss. Maggie was most hospitable and greeted us warmly upon our arrival. Our room had an outside entrance facing the pond and included a bedroom and a sitting area with TV and comfy couches. It was one of the larger rooms we stayed in our trip through Wales, Cornwall, and western England. The B&B was convenient to a decent pub for dinner and the breakfast the next morning was hot and satisfying. The B&B is a converted mill with many of the inner workings visible for admiration. Overall, we had no complaints with the exception of the parking area which is rather small and cramped. Just pay attention on road or you'll miss this little gem.

Very lovely and accommodating hostess. We booked in at the last minute and felt very welcomed. Stayed on the top floor at the back of the house. Quiet comfortable room the only thing was that wifi did not work in the room, but had nice cosy lounge to sit in while accessing wifi. Close to Stonehenge. Would stay there again.
